This post doesn't even make sense.

I'm assuming you're referring to Castor's post. He got it from Amazon Japan. There's a link. The DVDs are region 2, like every single other DVD from Japan.

It's from Tanooki Kuribo of this forum. He already mentioned it in another thread.

Are they only going to re-release these movies or are they going to re-do the whole series as well? I heard that they will be doing the entire thing, is that true?

I also heard Funimation is going to be bringing the re-done series and movies over here as well and re-dubing and subbing them.

Aw I seriously want that, but I'm having enough trouble trying to afford a laptop, the new animation looks so great and no more fuzzy 80s audio I'm guessing. Lucky you!!!!

I have a question now that mine has arrived, better late than never.

Has anybody translated Akira Toriyama's fore-word from the "Dragon Book" that comes with the box set? It can't be missed; it's right at the front, with a sketch of Gogeta done by Toriyama. (omfg~! )

I got an email from Amazon Japan telling me that the movie box is now 50% off. Which is like $220. In case anyone's interested.

This is a region 2 DVD release by Toei/Pony Canyon. The entire thing (DB, Z, GT, every episode and their specials) have been released in seperate boxsets. This is the only Region 2 DVD release of these movies that have been publically made available or planned at this stage.

I also heard Funimation is going to be bringing the re-done series and movies over here as well and re-dubing and subbing them.
The Movies Box is not a FUNimation release and has nothing to do with them. They are bringing new prints of the series over, however that is rife with their own problems and you should consult a different thread for the answers you want.

Buy a laptop. The novelty of a movies box wears off pretty quick, depending on who you are. They're also not translated, which in itself is not an issue, but you may not want to risk spending that much on untranslated goods.

It's not new animation, it's the same animation as before. It's just the quality of the video that is different this time around.

I don't get the last part, about the DVD releases being publically available. What, were the other Dragon Boxes only available in limited supplies or what?

Yeah. The DB/Z/GT boxes were advertised as 'Pre-order only' LE items. Basically, they did pre-orders six months before release to determine quantities, then released them. Retailers ordered a small surplus, however it would appear that either Toei isn't making the movie box an LE release or they made a larger surplus than the previous boxes.

I recently received my Dragon Box: The Movies set, and I know that before I got them I loved it when new pictures were uploaded in this thread, and so for those of you who still don't own the set I've taken the time to upload a few. OK that's a lie I've gone a bit over the top but whatever:

I also recieved my copy of the dragon box a couple of days ago. My god, the dragonball movies are amazing. The sound is just unbelievable as well as the picture quality being top notch. It makes me want to buy them all but i doubt my bank balance would hold out.

Oh man boult, those look fricken amazing!

Could you get a shot of Goku's face in Movie 5, the close up right after he transforms and is shown at the end of the credits?

Congrats on getting the set.

There ya go. I don't think that shot is anything special personally but whatever. Also I forgot to include the second one last time round, but its pretty cool so I've uploaded it this time. I'm not taking anymore requests though guys because this thread is already overloaded with my pictures.

Thanks for those. I love that first shot of Goku. Movie 5 is my favorite and probably the only one that tempts me to buy the Dragonbox.

Congrats again.

Yeah movie 5 is easily the best movie. Great Toriyama-styled animation, and the whole "Freeza's brother" thing always really interested me, although gimmicky as fuck, because the Freeza arc of the series is easily the best and the most well written part of the show.

But very poorly animated. A big reason why I love Movie 5 instead.
