By the looks of it the information got out a bit early. More info at MCM Manchester:

That is good news but I'd be surprised if there was a showing near me. I have two major cinemas by me though so maybe I'll get lucky.
I'm kinda surprised because it never seemed all that popular here. We were all into Pokemon but nobody ever mentioned DBZ.

That's true. I've seen a Pokemon film in cinemas too. There's no doubting its popularity back in the day. That was a long time ago though and since then Manga UK have released all of DBZ and DB on DVD as well as Battle of Gods. They must generate a fair amount of sales. I'm sure it will do well.Bullza wrote:That is good news but I'd be surprised if there was a showing near me. I have two major cinemas by me though so maybe I'll get lucky.

It is kind of weird; I missed a lot of my generation's pop culture as a kid for various reasons, and got into DBZ on the Internet as a teenager...then casually mentioned it to my classmates a couple years back, and it turns out they all grew up with it on TV XDBullza wrote:That is good news but I'd be surprised if there was a showing near me. Pokémon was really big here. I also went to see the first two movies when I was a kid. It was a big fad though, it really took off after the game came out at the end of 1999 and then within 2 years it had died off considerably. That's true. I've seen a Pokemon film in cinemas too. There's no doubting its popularity back in the day.
That was the same for me in a way. I watched about half a dozen of episodes when it originally aired on TV, I think that was in 1999 too then I just didn't anymore and got into it in 2007 once all the anime sites starting coming around.I missed a lot of my generation's pop culture as a kid for various reasons, and got into DBZ on the Internet as a teenager
As a kid and young teenager, I knew of people who watched Digimon and Yu Gi Oh and even Beyblade but never DBZ.

I will be floored if this film gets a widespread limited release in the UK - but incredibly, incredibly happy!

If Resurrection F gets a widespread release I'll be over the moon, but even if it doesn't I'll go see it wherever it is. It's not every day something like this comes to the UK.

Man Super Cyan just doesn't look good to me when its cerulean/teal. It needs to be steel blue for me to like the look.

I was totally different than that, I caught DBZ when it first aired and it stuck with me from that point, and when I spoke about it to other people they had also watched it. It seemed as popular as Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh and Digimon judging from the way people spoke about it.Bullza wrote: That was the same for me in a way. So Jerome really did jump the gun with the announcement of 'F' coming to UK cinemas. It wasn't supposed to be revealed until MCM in Manchester next week.
Here's a little bit more from him:
"It took ages to execute the license agreement with Fox. And we only received materials this week. We don't have masters yet and we are waiting for exhibitors to give us a slot. It's not because we have been sitting on our big fat lazy old butts!!!! Brit fans are very short on patience and quite cruel sometimes. It makes me die a little inside every time @MangaUk gets hate-twitter.
"
I must admit I'm one of the ones he refers to. I've tweeted Manga I don't know how many times, I like to see it as giving them a little push in the right direction
The reason they're getting those tweets though is due to them falling totally silent on it after the initial announcement 7 weeks ago. I admit to being impatient and, to quote Guardians of the Galaxy a bit of a dick.
They could still mess this up though. I'm hoping they announce a number of showings and dates across the UK. I guess I should have a little faith in them.
Edit: He's removed the tweet now but Jerome also said yesterday they had some of those small Freeza figures to give away when you buy your ticket.

Even if they just go for the big cities, that will suffice. London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle etc. I wonder if it will be dub or sub? preference is dub, but I'm so grateful we're getting it, that I'll be delighted to watch the sub.BlackCatScott wrote:So Jerome really did jump the gun with the announcement of 'F' coming to UK cinemas. Newcastle would be great for me. And if they announce a few days of screenings I'd definitely see it a few times. Dub would be preference but it's not like I wouldn't go see it if it was subbed. I'd still jump on tickets!DBZ_Lee wrote:Even if they just go for the big cities, that will suffice. Maybe we'll get dates announced next week at the comic con then. I imagine the DVD would come out around the same time as last year in November so perhaps a limited release in September?
