Resurrection F Box Office - $64.8 million Worldwide
Re: Resurrection F - $51.1 million Worldwide - BoG surpassed
It is good news and I like that they're saying it'll be released in a substantial amount of screens (theatres) too. In UK a 500+ theatre count is the norm for blockbuster movies and 400+ for the smaller blockbuster movies.
I'd expect maybe 100-200 for this perhaps?
Oh and if anyone is wondering why there hasn't been a box office update for a bit it's because nothing has been announced. It's week tomorrow until the US release so it'll pick up again then.

Australia also have it released around the US time too, do we know how much BoG made over there?
Re: Resurrection F - $51.1 million Worldwide - BoG surpassed
Box Mojo have it listed at making $117k as of August 31. It was supposed to have run in a few places after that so it would have made more than that but probably not by much.
This one is looking like it'll do a good amount more going by the info Super Saiyan Swagger has given.

Re: Resurrection F - $51.1 million Worldwide - BoG surpassed
Resurrection F's final official box office total for Japan has been given.
It made ¥3.74 billion ($31.1 million) with 2.81 million admissions.
The last estimate that was given had it at ¥3.67 billion so actuals went up ¥70 million.
Compared to Battle of Gods it made ¥750 million ($1.2 million) more or 25% more.
It is the 6th highest grossing movie in Japan so far in 2015.

It did well in Japan, it ended a bit shy of it's goal but it's still gotta be considered a success, right?

I would definitely say that ROF can be considered a success in Japan.Sora Saiyan wrote:It did well in Japan, it ended a bit shy of it's goal but it's still gotta be considered a success, right?

I'm sooo happy for my UK Dragon Ball loving friends! This is awesome! I hope lots of people will see it!
Re: Resurrection F - $51.1 million Worldwide - BoG surpassed
Certainly, it was only supposed to have a budget of $5 million and it made over 6 times that much in Japan alone. It didn't reach their goal but it did make 93.5% of it's goal.It did well in Japan, it ended a bit shy of it's goal but it's still gotta be considered a success, right?
On a side note RoF is the 21st highest grossing anime movie worldwide ever so far. I'm interested in seeing how high it can actually go.

I'm actually keeping my eye on where it is in the highest grossing anime films of all time. Just hoping it makes some serious money now.
Re: Resurrection F - $51.1 million Worldwide - BoG surpassed
Looks there was a Box Office update after all, the first in two weeks actually. This comes from Box Office Mojo where they have it at making $51.63 million worldwide. That's about $530,000 in the past two weeks so it's about to come to a close now in current markets.

Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $51.63 million Worldwide
The movie should do well when it comes out in the US. It's not going to break the Top 10 since it's a limited release, but I can see it doing just as good as BOG did last year.

Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $51.63 million Worldwide
On http://www.movietickets.com MI5 accounts for 31% of all tickets sold in the past 24 hours then RoF is #2 with 20% of all tickets sold.
BoG sold 11% of all tickets sold the day prior to release and though it's not an apples to apples comparison it seems like a good sign.
It releases today in US though we'll have to wait till Wednesday to see how it's done as it's always one day behind. For reference BoG made $1.07 million opening day.
I have no idea how well this will do but anything less than $4 million would be disappointing.
When considering it has 200 extra theatres, 5 extra days in release, more promotion, much more awareness and that it's being released less than 4 months after it came out in Japan as opposed to well over a year by which point most had watched it online then it really should be making at least $4 million.

Did China got this movie?
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

No it didn't. It probably won't either as they have a quota on how many non Chinese movies are even allowed per year.
Anywho as for the US gross, still waiting. All the other grosses have been given so just like last year it's gross will be given hours later.
I have seen a "credible estimate" from someone who gives daily estimates and he has a good track record and the rest of his estimates for today were spot on.
I don't want to say what his estimate was, I wanted to wait for the official number before I posted anything but if it's accurate then it's good, it's more than I expected and people will be pleased.
I'm going to bed now so it'll likely be put up before I wake up so check Box Mojo and if you see it then post it on here.

They didn't get BOG, so I kinda doubt that they will. They are a communist government, so they are strict on what movies get release over there. If ROF does get release in China then it should make a good amount of over there. The reason why DBE barely made back it's budget (just barely) because of China. A lot of movies make a lot of money from the Chinese box office for years. Movies like The Mummy 3 and Transformers 4 had a Chinese market in mind from what I can remember.

Transformers 4 was the blatant case of pandering to the Chinese market ever. Screen Junkies summed it perfectly. But, in the end, it paid off big time.Hellspawn28 wrote:They didn't get BOG, so I kinda doubt that they will. Yeah I've heard they have to shoot some of the movie in China for it to automatically get a release over there, and if not they pick an choose which movie air there.
According to Boxofficemojo it looks like it made $1.967 million on Tuesday.

Holy crap. The film has made $1,967,626 on its first day in the U.S. according to http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?pa ... ionoff.htm making it the 6th highest grossing film of the 4th of August. It's behind Pixels... Fuck that movie.
Re: Resurrection F Box Office - $51.63 million Worldwide
And it made the most per theater, which in some ways it should've as it the newest, and in the fewest theaters.
