Been following the 'DBZRF' hash-tag on Twitter and the reception has been overwhelmingly positive. Sounds like everyone had a fantastic time. However, like last year with BOG, it sounds as though there's been one or two technical problems.

I can't believe I'm not seeing until the 15th. Definitely going twice, now.

Just got back from our screening. I'm pretty sure I was the oldest person there followed by my wife who's almost another decade younger. Pretty good experience except for the dad who brought his sick kid a row in front of us and the two feral boys in the bodies of 19 year-olds scratching their legs and palms of their hands constantly in between nose-picking sessions.

Everyone was for the most part well-behaved, even during the trivia part.

just got back and I really enjoyed it. dub was great, defiantly felt like a 90's Toei movie but with that real Toriyama feel.
not sure if I like it more than Battle of Gods, but perhaps I will have decided after seeing it again tomorrow with my friends.

EDIT: forgot to say that the theatre I saw it at didn't show the pre-show. Did that happen for anyone else?

Like, laughing and shouting in appropriate places, or inappropriate places? I ask only because, for me, it's always fun to see a movie with an entire crowd that's feeling the energy that the movie's supposed to be giving off (like my viewing of the first Avengers movie). Of course, it can also definitely be a turn-off when it's not happening at the right moments (Toy Story 3's ending was ruined in my theater-going experience because everybody was laughing when they weren't supposed to be).
I would say it was mostly in appropriate places but to an extent to where you can barely hear the audio. Also, did anyone have the problem that the BGM seemed too quiet? Because I could barely hear the english version of Pledge of Z and other tracks.

Ah, I see.

And while I haven't seen the movie in theaters yet, I'm not at all surprised to hear that you couldn't hear the music. For some odd reason, FUNimation, when completing their dub audio mixes, has a tendency to put the music at a low volume and the sound effects at a comparatively higher volume. In my opinion, it should be the other way around.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

The score for Frieezas revival process was pretty intense. The music, dub, humor and action were all well placed in my opinion, didn't feel bored like I did with BOG. Had a great time even though I ended up viewing the movie by myself because it sold out and my friend didn't buy his ticket beforehand lol. Hell I'd watch that movie 10 more times.

My experience was awesome. I noticed that most people, especially those who were wearing a Dragon Ball Z t-shirt, had all pre-ordered their tickets. I watched as people kept going to the machines by the ticket booths to pick up their tickets. The auditorium we had was the smallest one in the theater, unfortunately, but we did manage to get it packed. We had plenty of laughs from the audience at all the good moments in the film, and everyone enjoyed it. It was an awesome experience for me. I loved it and the movie which I consider to be Toriyama's love letter to the fans. It was worth the 1.5 hour drive.

Yeah, I couldn't tell if it was too quiet or the people were too loud. I would say it may have been a mixture of both.

EDIT: One thing I have to note is that the pre-show was kind of dumb. Nearly every one of the questions (except the last one or two) were easy and I couldn't tell if the staff was dicking around or if they seriously were guessing. I mean they didn't know that Gregory was a cricket, who the final member of the Ginyu Force was, etc. It seemed more like a waste of time than anything cool. I prefer the Reddit AMA that Sean and Chris did to the pre-show. It just wasted twenty minutes of movie time.

Just got back and the movie was just disappointing for me.

Story
It's bad. It adds absolutely nothing to the universe like BoG did. Old enemy returns only to be defeated once again leaving no impact whatsoever. Whats worse is that it's Freeza, someone who has been brought back multiple times in the past only to be sent back to hell, this time is no different. This is pretty much that one scene from movie 12 but lengthened to 90 minutes.

Music
Music was good. Really had no problem with it.

Animation/visuals
Animation was pretty good. Can't really say the same for the CGI which stood out like a sore thumb...

Comedy
It was really lacking for me. Yeah, Jaco was great but other than that everything else was just meh. This was expected as half of the comedic cast had been cut such as Mr. Satan, Buu, Goten & Trunks etc. Bulma had some good scenes but all in all nothing made me bust a gut. BoG had better comedy (IMO).

Fighting
Whis training Goku & Vegeta was fun to watch. As for the fight on Earth, other than Roshi getting back into action after all these years was pretty fun to see and of course Jaco the rest of the Z-team vs. Freeza's army just wasn't that great. Before I knew it the whole thing just wrapped up, Goku arrived and we were moving on. Super will most likely extend it but as for the movie it was a little short.

Goku vs. Freeza was also pretty lackluster, it had some gems in between but the fight as a whole wasn't memorable. Kind of hard to top the original I guess.

Vegeta vs. Freeza was too short...

Dub
Pretty much everyone did a fantastic job voicing the characters. Others I didn't really care for... I'm looking at you, Schwartz..

Audience reaction
It was pretty positive, everyone loved Jaco. The fighting itself didn't get much cheer until the end with Vegeta vs. Freeza. Everyone was so happy that Vegeta would finally get payback on Freeza after all these years but when Freeza blew up Earth killing him the theater just fell dead quiet.

It remained that way for the rest of the damn movie! No applause for Goku finishing off Freeza unlike in BoG, everyone just went crazy when he fired his Kamehameha against Beerus but here, nothing. They must have been upset that Vege didn't get the kill.

All in all it was pretty bad. There was no suspense whatsoever. Piss Freeza is just final from Freeza painted gold and given the same weakness as his 100% form... And SSGSS is just SSJ but blue... Both are completely unnecessary and are just there for merchandising...

This is just a bad popcorn flick that just didn't need to happen. We already have a superior product and it's called the Freeza arc, this shit show doesn't need to exist.
It is merely filler to fit in between BoG & the U6 stuff we'll be getting.

I give this film a 4.5/10

Absolutely LOVED the movie!!

But the Cinemark here in Tulsa... show froze several times, management only made an announcement once. Show stopped for at least 40 minutes at one point. When it came back up it didn't have audio. And then the lobby music started playing as the picture was playing... it eventually got solved and they gave everyone in the theater passes to come back for free.

But other than that -- I really did love it. It's hilarious, the characters (JACO!!) are great, and it was better to have Frieza back than I thought it would be.

My theater had technical difficulties. Couldn't see the movie tonight, but the manager was a great guy. Gave me, my group, and everyone else in the entire theater tickets for tomorrows showing and a free movie pass for any film. Can't wait to see it tomorrow!

Surprisingly enough I actually agree with what IGN says for a change. Resurrection F 8/10 ! Solid Dragon Ball action movie with great fights and an as expected exceptional english dub ! Plot development unfortunately was minimal especially compared to Battle of Gods. If you enjoy high levels of action you'll walk away quite happy, but likely a bit unsatisfied if you were hoping for an ever expanding new saga into the franchise by the time the credits roll like we received last time and set up for with all the new material from Battle of Gods. We'll just have to wait and see how "Super" is able to pick up the story and take off from here.

I had a much better time and liked the movie more than I thought I would. The theater was packed and there was lots of laughs and "ooohs." Sometimes it got so loud that you could barely hear the audio but that didn't bother me. Saw it with 5 of my cousins by the way. I don't really understand how you can not enjoy an experience like this. I'll give the movie an 8.5/10.

Back from the screenings with my cousin. The pre-show was an atrocious. The movie itself was pretty empty, but a lot of fun. The jokes were funny, Jaco was amazing, and I really like the fighting. Though, there's that part of me that had an indifferent feeling because Super exists, and that'd solve the movie's problem of having absolutely no middle section.

When we came to the theater though, there was one guy in the back shouting memes, lines from the dub, and other stuff. The manager had to stop them, though. The rest of the audience pretty much laughed and cheered (especially at the ending fight), so that was cool.

This was my first time seeing a work of Dragon Ball dubbed before subbed since the original debut on Toonami with the Ocean dub...and it was a blast. I like both the original and dubbed cast pretty much the same, but I wanted to avoid watching this movie subbed online so that I could experience it with a blank slate. To be honest with you guys, it was so rewarding that I may just wait for FUNi to start releasing Super before I watch that. Watching BOG was a nostalgia trip all its own because it was the first watching substantive, new Dragon Ball material for me since I was in high school. But I'd watched BOG subbed online first, so it wasn't a complete experience for me. Not this time, Resurrection F was a blast!

I bought 2 tickets online last night to protect myself from it getting sold out today. The movie wasn't playing in my town so I had to go home to Austin to see it. The movie was scheduled for 7:00PM. I contacted some of my old friends from home but everyone was busy or working. So I ended up getting to see the movie with the person who supported my interest in Dragon Ball, and later anime in general, the most: my father. My old man hasn't seen the original series in its entirety, but did binge watch the entire Cell Saga with me once and he loved that part. He didn't watch any of the Freeza Saga with me thought, so I'm happy FUNimation included that cast interview/quiz segment at the beginning. It told him enough about Freeza for him to enjoy the movie. He laughed a lot and had a good time, so I'm glad I was able to experience it with him.

The showing was sold out. Lots of people with DBZ t-shirts. A few guys in full Goku costumes. Everybody laughed and had fun. I'm still blown away that I've got to watch Dragon Ball in the theater after being basically convinced that it would never happen back when I was a kid.

Pretty good turnout at the AMC in my corner of Phoenix. I was actually a little surprised by how full it was. No technical issues during the film, though the sound on the pre-show was low enough that people were commenting, "They're going to turn it up for the actual movie, right?"

I went by myself, since most of my friends who like DBZ don't live nearby, but a lot of the people I saw at the theater were in groups. Variety of ages, though a good chunk were teen/twenty-something guys.

I liked BoG but came in to this with low expectations based on what I'd read thus far, & I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. This was my first time watching anything DB in theaters, & it was pretty cool to watch on the big screen for a change. My biggest takeaway was, "I can't wait til Jaco shows up in Super!" Haha. But really, the audience as a whole responded very well to Jaco.

I thought the first half did a great job of passing around the spotlight & letting the supporting players have their moments. Very self-aware writing, really enjoyed the dub. I'm happy there's all this new stuff happening in the franchise, because it means more opportunities for the Funimation cast to demonstrate how good they've become with these characters.

The show I went to was definitely sold out, but it was in one of Cinemark's smaller theaters with leather recliners. I'd say there were probably 75-80 seats or so? They have several other shows this week and they are all sold out.

While a few people in the audience were kind of annoying, it was really enjoyable hearing everyone laugh and cheer during the movie. It was a good experience :)

You must have ended up in a coma reading the manga or watching the anime for the first time then.
