Agreeing with this, even though I honestly think this project is a big ball of fall-apart. Giving it a new name when there's already a servicable one is kidna redundant, especially when every name thought up is pretty awkward.Kirbopher wrote:I vote for keeping it "Tree of Might". I think even those who're fans of the Japanese version generally accept that title anyhow.

I kinda like that idea. We'll allow another day or two for people to suggest names, and then I'll pick out the best ones and hold a vote. That sound good?chibi_goten wrote:I think we should do a vote for the name just like we did when picking the movie.
...And for anybody who's wondering; No, the project is not dying. I've just decided that it'd be best to hold off on doing any major work on it until after the holidays, since I'm sure everybody's busy. I know I am. Once New Years is over with, I'll start getting things rolling again. I'll get people back to work on the Script, Footage, Sound, and such, and Rick, Kino, Jack and I will get cracking on going through the Auditions and starting callbacks. So everyone, just sort of pause with the project and enjoy the holidays.

Phew, this works out for me! I'm going to my parents' house for the holidays so I won't have my desktop with Adobe Premiere to work on anything. It'll give some time for everything to be sorted out too. Good call Kaboom!SSj Kaboom wrote:[I've just decided that it'd be best to hold off on doing any major work on it until after the holidays, since I'm sure everybody's busy.

Sounds good to me, although you saying New Years reminds me that I start classes around the 15.. ugh...
I just feel bad for anyone that tried out for Puer or Chi-Chi; I gave you no chance.

This was more or less an experimental thing but..
I decided to try and see if we can really do what Kino mentioned about us doing our own version of Head Cha La. So I got the instrumental version (Thanks to Timo for his website!), ripped Mr. Announcer's vocals from the YouTube version...and voila! Cha-La Head Cha-La
I also decided to take it one step further and add it to the original animation, to see if it worked. Here are some issues with all that..
Audio: All right, although the vocals were off by a few seconds by the last verse (Right before the 'ai-yai-yai!'), but they go back on track for the end. I wasn't able to edit that in any way so yeah =P Pretty good job though.

I recommend you get the vocals first, then try the video afterwards =)
Enjoy

Okay, so I've been experimenting too.
I'd like to know your honest opinion on the final ten minutes of the movie, so it can be improved. Tell the truth, and don't use euphemisms.
It can be either:
- Excellent
- Okay
- Shit
- Abysmal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckFCjnMUbX0
Compare it to the Japanese version, in terms of the BGM.

Eclipse, that was good! I think Mr. A's voice needs to have an echo to it though, and needs to be blended in.Eclipse wrote:This was more or less an experimental thing but..

Neat. Sounds good. So good that actually having one of us attempt to sing it is actually starting to sound like a good idea! (Not to bash anybody, but I just never pictured most of us as the singing types... -_-;) But honestly, it looks and sounds good.Eclipse wrote:This was more or less an experimental thing but....

Yeah, he's right. The voice stood out a bit much in comparison to the BG audio. Either blending somehow or somehow finding a higher quality version of the BGM would fix that. Ditto on the (slight) echo, too.Teven Perry wrote:I think Mr. A's voice needs to have an echo to it though, and needs to be blended in.
...Um... what? I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be giving an opinion on. Are you asking me to compare the UK dialogue ("Big Green" what, now?) to the original Japanese for some reason?Steven Perry wrote:Okay, so I've been experimenting too.

I think what he's trying to say is he doesn't want any "buttered down" reviews. He wants one of these words to describe how you felt about the job: Excellent, Okay, Shit, or Abysmal.

But what job? All I see is a link to a scene from the UK version. I don't understand what it is he wants an opinion on.Mr.Piccolo wrote:I think what he's trying to say is he doesn't want any "buttered down" reviews. I thought it was okay but there was a bit too much around 2:10 into it. As for Eclipse's "experiments", I also thought it needed an echo, seeing how the original cha-la had an echo too. It'll probably blend together better (the cha-la instrumental and Mr. A's voice).Any other thoughts, guys?Steven Perry wrote:Erm... the BGM.SSj Kaboom wrote:But what job? Yeah, the blending thing was more or less my fault. I made Mr. A's voice louder than the BGM since you can barely hear it when it's at the default level. Oh well, I'm gonna fix that now.
Glad you all liked it, I myself didn't think much of it (the audio was cool, but the video was horribly synchronized)
EDIT: I'm doing this right now in Audacity. The echo thing isn't working well (Basically you can hear another vocal right after). Plus, when both the music and the vocals are left at 0 gain, the vocals are barely hearable! Can anyone help me on that?
BTW, Kaboom, this is probably the best instrumental out there. There's a higher quality version that sounds more or less 'normal', but that's the one with the melodical playing (Or however you call it)
EDIT: A couple of hours later, I've fiddled around with the settings. I've done two more versions, improved and synchronized and all.
Although if anything, the last one shows my inexperience with audio editing. Since Kaboom suggested getting a clearer instrumental, I did so. However, the instrumental was the one with the melody playing, and in full size. I did my best to trim it to TV size, although there are some parts where it skips (That's my attempts to cut and trim parts of sound and all), but otherwise it's average. The first is a simple one.
And I doubt I'll be able to do anything with these vocals, considering they are mono (I did rip them from YouTube, after all). They can only really blend in if Mr. A re-records it. But yeah.

Hi there, I'm a friend of Kirbopher's, who directed me to this site.
I couldn't find actual audition lines in the thread, but I'd be interested in trying out for female or young male parts.
I played Bulma and Chichi in this flash:

Also, here's my generic "voice demo reel" if it helps any:
