Just got back from seeing the movie. Was it just me, or was Krillin's ringtone the theme from One Piece?

It is. It's "We Are", the first One Piece opening theme.

Was the "common laser" line from the dub actually in the original script?...

I mean, the whole "contingency, super ultimate, laser" theory was hard enough to swallow... but suggesting that it's on par with the lazer roshi tanked... Holy freaking balls... How "off guard" could he have been?

I mean, that...just can't be right. If that was how it worked, Piccolo's surprise kick on Namek should've torn Freeza in half, same for Vegeta smacking SP Cell in the back of the head with a ki blast...

I know, but Vegeta deliberately lowered his ki as low as he possibly could; it's not really the same thing at all. If Goku fully powered-down he wouldn't be transformed any more.

I'd say the people in the examples I gave were just as "off-guard".

It was going with Whis' statement that it was Goku's biggest weakness, that a mixture of his overelaxation and overconfidence can make him drop his guard. They still have relatively normal bodies (normal for Saiyans), so if a hole drops in their ki defense, it can be deadly. Goku felt things were done, so he dropped his guard and it hurt.

Goku learning from his mistakes in the future...er...past...uh...whenever is a nice touch. Didn't bother me personally.

Was nice to finally see the movie in theaters.

I almost have as hard a time believing that frieza would use a "common laser" as a contingency plan, as the fact that the plan worked ...

Anyways, was it just me or did Frieza say that he'd reach a power level of 1.3 million? That's even lower than he was before... Did he say "billion"?

Million. Maybe he meant for his first form, which would more than double said form's power. He could have simply been underestimating both himself and Goku, but it ended up working out anyways. Or Toriyama meant Billion and wrote Million in the original script, who knows?

He said 1.3 million. I don' know for sure but I assume it's a dub line. Like how Beerus said normal ki doesn't effect gods in battle of gods. Pure dub line. So either Toriyama/Toei messed up or Funimation did because 1.3 million is below his 3rd form. It might be below his 2nd form.

No, that line was in Toriyama's original script, and somehow it seems nobody caught on to the obvious flaw there. How did it even happen at all? Maybe Toriyama heard the song, with its "Power-level 530 000"-line, forgot that this was the power of his FIRST form and not his final one, and decided that "Okay, now after this training his FIRST form will be twice as strong as his final form used to be!"?

Oh, and Beerus's line on how "ki doesn't work on gods"? Also there in Japanese, though FUNi may have misinterpreted it, as in context he seemed to be talking about how ki-sensing didn't work against gods.

Billion seams to small as well. We gotta wait till the DVD comes out to see if it's a dub line or not. I know battle of gods made A LOT of errors in the translations.

It's already been explained that it's in the original Japanese dialog as well. These dubs are adapting the line accurately.

It's a pointless line that doesn't make sense,but it doesn't matter because the movie was still amazing! I honestly think it's over 100x better then battle of Gods.

He didn't say it was for or not for any form in particular (both in Japanese and accurately dubbed in English... and from what I understand, also in Spanish). He said it while in his first form. That's all there is to it.

I'm sorry you don't like it and I'm sorry it doesn't line up with your math, but that doesn't change anything about its accuracy.

Ehhh I suppose it's true that he was completely unaware of what he was capable of accomplishing and if he genuinely believed that Goku only beat him the first time because he was caught off guard, then maybe he genuinely believed that Goku was his inferior and that he couldn't have become more than twice as strong as he was since they last met.


Also, we need to remember that frieza can't sense ki and no scouter has ever been able to reach anywhere near a million so maybe. he doesn't have an accurate understanding of what "1.3 million" really translates to in the big picture...
