James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Any opinion on my list using Freeza's 1.3M as correct?

Nope.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:So... you are basically picking what you like & treat you assumptions as facts in order to prove your point.h0kuten wrote:Feats of the finished material over-ride the script, which is subject to change, which has and will continue to happen to Mr. Akira Toriyama.
Things that happened in the script didn't happen on screen It's common fact Toei doesn't use all of Toriyama's ideas, that is 100% fact.
Eh?Doctor. wrote:Any opinion on my list using Freeza's 1.3M as correct?
That sounded weird... Anyways, I enjoyed the list, but try and do it with the Daizenshuu's list of Goku being at 150 mill and Frieza at 120 mill. You'll see why I personally believe it to be impossible. Anywways, I'm going to try and do another one, so I'll be back shortly.
Re: The Official Unofficial Power Levels Thread
Jaco turned down a senzu for plot-related reasons, so that there'd be one left for Goku later. There, bickering over that topic can be over now.

Re: The Official Unofficial Power Levels Thread
Fun fact: the introductory page in volume 25 of the manga outright says that Goten and Trunks are stronger than Piccolo.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

So that would be the last volume by normal standards?RandomGuy96 wrote:Fun fact: the introductory page in volume 25 of the manga outright says that Goten and Trunks are stronger than Piccolo.
Though it may not be the case in the japanese version, I can see why the editors at Viz would think that.

Nah, the last is volume 26. I don't really see any reason to doubt Viz for the moment. Aren't those little introductory bios and summaries just made up by Viz? I'm pretty sure the original manga volumes don't have equivalents to that. But I don't own any of the original 42 volumes in Japanese, so...RandomGuy96 wrote:Fun fact: the introductory page in volume 25 of the manga outright says that Goten and Trunks are stronger than Piccolo.

Nope, it's impossible, I can't do it. I've even got these:
Even by turning the bloat unto maximum proportions it's impossible to make Frieza's 1,300,000 number work. I guess it's best to ignore it at this point and assume he surpassed his own expectations
@Randomguy26
Goku didn't see Vegeta die in the afterlife or Gohan, he told his friends specifically that they were dead BEFORE he returned to the afterlife.
You're also aware Viz states that Fat Buu is superior to Gotenks Ssj Pre-ROST?

No, they don't. I've seen that argument and it's based off a very poor understanding of the English language. Even if it did say that, which it doesn't, we have Herms' translation of the original line.

Because, until I see the Herms line or proof that this page doesn't exist in the Japanese manga, I have no reason to doubt it. It's not really important anyway, the manga already shows and states who's superior, I just thought it would be fun to bring up.h0kuten wrote:So... why are you using Viz to make a point...RandomGuy96 wrote:So?h0kuten wrote: @Randomguy26

Re: The Official Unofficial Power Levels Thread
Here's the page in japanese:
As we can see it doesn't have mini-bios on Mr. Satan, Kaioshin, Elder Kaioshin and Majin Buu, so it might not correspond completely to the story summary either.

Frieza says he should be able to reach 1.3 million in 4 months but piccolo says the wish was nade almost 6 months ago, what I do is assume he ment 1.3 million times stronger.
Also if a person punchs 170 balloons while running and dogging they'll still get tired.
Finally Jako ran and used his laser gun to fight which is why he wasn't as tired.

Refraining from wiping out all thousand lackeys at once was probably counter productive in terms of conserving energy.
Frieza getting 1.3 million times stronger sounds about right.

Re: The Official Unofficial Power Levels Thread
You guys need to see the movie again gohan and piccolo don't look tired at all they took the beans for pure plot reasons.
Goku back on snack way was running at hypersonic speeds for nearly 2 days near max speed
What human do you know can exert themselves for that long without dying of exhaustion
It's like saying Beerus would lose energy from flicking 100000 emperor pilaf around
Are you seriously comparing a z warrior stamina to a human? Also if a person punchs 170 balloons while running and dogging they'll still get tired.

What human do you know can exert themselves for that long without dying of exhaustion
That makes no sense at all why would heavily supressing your power to defeat foes who are more than likely thousands-millions of times weaker than you cause you to lose energy?[Refraining from wiping out all thousand lackeys at once was probably counter productive in terms of conserving energy.
