Doesn't Kai have 159 episodes?DBZ_Lee wrote:Tobi555 wrote:well do they record the show by episode? like 99-167 or do they do it all out of order to save screaming as a whole for last?
As far as I'm aware, they don't necessarily record in episode order. I guess it depends on availability, and what the VAs can record.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Japanese Kai is derivative of the international version so put simply the japanese version has a smaller episode count due to having to fit the show on tv within a years time so certain cuts were made to the international version for the japanese broadcast. So technically there are 167 episodes of kai produced and the international version created by Toei is the original version.

Do those 8 additional episodes consist of filler? What are we missing if we stick with the original 159?Tobi555 wrote:Japanese Kai is derivative of the international version so put simply the japanese version has a smaller episode count due to having to fit the show on tv within a years time so certain cuts were made to the international version for the japanese broadcast. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Filler yes but it helps with pacing of the International original version. The japanese version of these episodes which are the first couple are horribly paced all around the international version is much better for the price of more episodes and none of those episodes are entirely filler except for episode 165 aside from the first 10 seconds. Technically the 167 is the original
just better pacing and music placement except for that one filler episode I mention. The Japanese version fixed 2 things that the international version didn't which are: correcting super buu's eye color to red instead of white and changing bobidi's blood color from red to purple.

Hmm. Interesting. I wonder if FUNimation is dubbing those 8 episodes to be included in the Boo saga.Tobi555 wrote:Filler yes but it helps with pacing of the International original version. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Yea they more than likely are dubbing the international version since they have been dubbing since before the Japanese edits were made the version they have is more than likely the same one the rest of the world has. I doubt Funimation would waste they're time asking for the Japanese one and I doubt Toei would hand it over to them. The international version has the original opening, ending, episode recap, and episode preview music also.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Oh okay, so the international cut on Blu Ray and the one FUNi is probably including likely won't have that fix??Tobi555 wrote:From when super buu was revealed up until gotenks punches him in the face in the hyperbolic time chamber
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Exactly but those 2 things are hardly a let down because in practically every other area our version is better however people do debate whether the international opening and ending are good and the japanese altered opening and endings.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I hope they decide to have Toonami air it after the Cell Saga.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I doubt that's going to happen anymore since Super is something that Funimation is trying to acquire. Maybe at one point toonami was what they wanted to air it through but imo I think they're going to go straight to a home video release to give as much focus to super as possible. Honestly I think people would lose interest in buu if it was aired on toonami because it would air in 2017 years after supers introduction. I believe at this point it would be wise to release it as soon as possible with Super being something that Funimation wants.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Kai is a ratings machine for them right now so I feel like they'd need a pretty decent reason not to air those episodes at some point.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
So do you think that they'll release buu kai after toonami then funrush?

That just sounds like the typical "stay tuned!" response that social media managers always give out without confirming things one way or the other. Don't get your hopes up.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Schemmel already confirmed months ago that they are in the process of dubbing the Boo saga and currently where Gohan/Goku say goodbye to each other before he goes off to fight Boo. We are now in Augest, many months later. It's happening. 2016 at the latest. For all we know, they are preparing to air it and release the Blu-Rays and are about to start Super.Tobi555 wrote:I doubt that's going to happen anymore since Super is something that Funimation is trying to acquire. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I don't know about that, I'm just saying from a business perspective not airing Buu Kai at some point would kind of be a dumb move. I think they'll probably release it before it airs on TV though, seems kind of pointless to delay 2 years. Might as well get those out of the way before releasing Super becomes a concern. If Super got onto Toonami before then, they could just push Kai back in the schedule and make Super the opening show.Tobi555 wrote:So do you think that they'll release buu kai after toonami then funrush?
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Does anyone know if Funimation is allowed to make edits to the footage like how Toei did. For example, could Funimation correct Super Buu's eye color in The Final Chapters release or are they not allowed to make those kinds of changes?

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Do we really want to back to the dark ages where dubbing companies make edits footage, though? I understand that this would be for a good cause, but Funi altering the footage (aside from OP end ED text and title cards) just wouldn't be right.Tobi555 wrote:Does anyone know if Funimation is allowed to make edits to the footage like how Toei did.
