Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
SSJ2 Gohan vs Cell. Oh wait, we're talking about actual fights. I would probably say Jackie Chun vs Manwolf, that fight was boring and lasted too long in the anime. Throw in Kid Goku vs former champions/martial artists in there as well.

Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
Hmm majority of the old movie fights after the first Cooler movie fights were pretty ehh. Broly's fight in M8 is a big contender, so was Gogeta vs Janemba (although I guess you can't really call that a fight). Main series (not counting GT since I can't remember anything from that) wise, I enjoyed all of them to some degree none come to mind as the boring or the worst maybe Gohan vs Buu if it had to pick one.

EP 5 of DBS, everything was terrible, from the art/drawings, animations, the fight choreography. Awful.
Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
Growing up, I always wondered why he never just did that. Once I finally saw that fight I thought that moment was super cool. That's the most interesting part of that fight for me.Lord Beerus wrote:Two words: Super Kaioken.DBZAOTA482 wrote:I agree. I thought Goku and Freeza's fight in Z dragged on too long. I used to really hate the fight with Ginyu but now I don't mind it as much. I guess that fight in episode 5 of Super is in my bottom tier, not just because of how gross the animation is but Goku just randomly flinging himself at the ground was just eh.

SSJ Goku vs Frieza. Shit, it was really hard for me to say it, cuz I did put it as one of the best fights ever back in the day, but now that I realized how long it was, now I put it as bad. I'm even starting to think that's where the "it takes 15-20 episodes to finish off a villain" joke originated from. I still like parts of the fight, though.
Second place is Stupid Stale Godawful Sucky Saiyan Goku vs Goldilocks Frieza. Third place is....well...all of the fights in the Black Star Saga.
Don't worry, I'll back you up.

I think that Goku vs Freeza in F was disapoint in plot, but not so in coreography and animation. Also they referenced Bruce Lee(that was good).Doctor. wrote:Goku vs Freeza in F. Disregarding how terribly Freeza even gained such power in the first place, the fight didn't live up to its hype, it wasn't a worthy successor to their original fight, the animation was terrible before their transformations were revealed and, after that, the fight was plagued with absolutely awful CGI and uninspired and slow fight choreography. The finale was a bunch of BS, too.
I don't think that was an excelent fight, but I think there are worses in other ocasions.
Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
To me it was, 1/3rd of the actual choreography is terrible CGI and the rest is Freeza punching Goku into a mountain, then waiting for him to come out, then Goku doing the same thing. Or Goku punching, Freeza dodging, Freeza punching, Goku dodging, along with the classic zoom-out shot that shows all the shockwaves their blows are producing. There are like two interesting bits of choreography in the entire fight, the one inch punch and the bit where Freeza and Goku are clashing in mid-air and Freeza flips him around, and that's it.SaintEvolution wrote:I think that Goku vs Freeza in F was disapoint in plot, but not so in coreography and animation. For all the hype that was built around it prior to the movie's release, the fight is not good at all.

Yamcha vs everyone, except Tien and probably Goku (in beginning of series).

Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
I would have to go with Battle of God's version of the Gokū vs. Beerus fight. The reason I'm going with that one instead of Super's version is because, although the animation is a lot worse, they do show a lot more. I don't even know if you can consider BoG's version a fight.

Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
To be fair I don't think in both instances it was supposed to be a fight per say, moreso showing how strong Beerus is without doing much, in that regard BoG wins hands down it was short and sweet and down the point whereas in Super it was literally Beerus just dodging Goku idly while Goku goes through forms in isn't until SS3 Beerus starts doing something and even then he is still blocking Goku and when he is about to attack he doesn't because Goku moves back (which was pretty cool), Super unnecessarily dragged this whole scenario out.DoomieDoomie911 wrote:I would have to go with Battle of God's version of the Gokū vs. Beerus fight. The latter half of the Piccolo vs. #17 fight, especially in the anime.

That's an interesting pick. Do you mind elaborating?Cipher wrote:The latter half of the Piccolo vs. #17 fight, especially in the anime.

Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
It's the worst of the series' literal back-and-forth fist-fight combat. After Piccolo's scattered energy attack, there isn't another notable beat in the fight (and there isn't much creative or exciting happening beforehand either). It's been a long time since I've looked at the manga version, but the anime (and it's an Uchiyama episode) has them literally tossing each other into the ground one after another, and several back-and-forth punch-each-other-so-hard-the-impact-is-seen-on-the-other-side shots which is maybe the most embarrassing scene in the franchise.Kid Buu wrote:That's an interesting pick. Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
Easily the animated version of Goku vs Freeza. Actually, make that a tie between the one in FNF, and the one in the Namek arc. Soooooo much boring filler, and I'm not even talking exclusively about the kind you think I am. I haven't seen Goku vs Beerus yet, but it sounds pretty close to being as bad. It depends on how long it is I guess.
I'm also not a fan of Vegetto vs Buu. Vegetto smiles and punches Buu, Buu tries to do something that would make the fight a little interesting, Vegetto smiles and counters somehow with little effort, Vegetto punches Buu, rinse and repeat. I'm not sure which is worse between the anime and manga versions; on one hand, the anime version has Buu trying out more tricks, which was the only interesting part about the whole thing. On the other, it's sooooooo long. I think actually having a proper fight for the strongest villain in Z (or at he was, before movies 14 and 15) would've been better, rather than using several Deus Ex Machinas to make him look like a putz.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
Most of the fights in the later Boo saga, mostly because they all got cut short or weren't really resolved to a satisfying extent. They all just kind of seemed to stop without a sense of "finality" to them. Specifically:
Goku VS. Majin Vegeta - Cut short due to Boo's awakening
Super Saiyan 3 Goku VS. Boo - Goku was only fighting to buy Trunks some time.
Gotenks VS. Boo - The fusion ended. I get that it was a totally relevant plot point of the fusion itself, but just seemed anticlimactic.
Gohan VS. Boo - Manga fight was like 4 chapters tops before Gohan got absorbed.
Vegetto Vs. Boo - Vegetto was mainly playing around until his chance to get absorbed and rescue the others.

Re: Worst fight in all of Dragon Ball
Gohan vs Cell, Goku vs Freeza or Goku vs Majin Vegeta. All three have crappy hand to hand combat and drag on too long due to the characters screwing around with each other. Another i dislike, but don't hate, is the second fight between Vegeta & Zarbon. It just felt like it was going through the motions after the great first fight between them.

Goku vs Cell - too dragged out, i saw this fight in Super Butoden 2 first, and i expected it to end fast, but it went on and on...
