Holy cow, I cannot make a coherent paragraph on the internet. Forgive me, forget I was here.

Nice episode as always. This series is great. For years I tried to explain to people that Tenaichi was more complex than most people wanted to believe, specially in defensive maneuvers. I really wish you did the same with Tenkaichi 3, even though for the most part it will be very close to one another.

I again notice a few differences with Tenkaichi 3 :) throw countering works a bit different on 3. If I'm not mistaken the counter done on Tenkaichi 2 by pressing circle is just done by using a throw as well on 3. I think I prefer Tenkaichi 3 version of this myself. It leaves circle as a block/teleport button only, and it's also closer at other fighting games like Soul Calibur in which you counter throws by pressing the same throw.

Keep the videos coming, I want to see how you handle ki based attacks with melee. And also if you can give some uselfuness to the change of direction of supers that can be performed on Tenkaichi 2.

Well, the main goal is to enlighten people on the depth that exists in Tenkaichi games, regardless of which game is being used in the project. As much as Tenkaichi 2 exhibits in the world of technical game-play, there are MANY differences between T2 and T3. The project I'm presenting has been extremely condensed so as to not drag out too long. Incorporate the details of Tenkaichi 3 would turn the project into a monster that even I would be too exhausted to finish. I'll leave that up to a Pro Tenkaichi 3 player to take on.

I don't believe I cover the change of direction in supers simply because changing the direction of the super blast is only used against opponents that are attempting to dash to the side in attempts to avoid the blast. As a neutrally directed super blast holds connection with orientation upon the release of the attack, a side dash will always prove viable (unless other circumstances prevent it; e.g., Ki Blast distraction or "Step-In barrier"-based movement restrictions). Acknowledging a character as dashing to the left would indicate a better directional placement for blast execution. In other words, if an opponent dashes to the left to avoid the blast, direct the blast to the left to meet him. As each character and circumstance will vary, directional blasts may still hold little viability, for directing a blast at 10 feet will be far more effective than at 100 feet.

Don't worry though, I'm sure you'll enjoy what I've got in store. The Super Blast aspect of Tenkaichi 2 can be very effective, especially when regarding the technical approach supporting one's executions (offensively and defensively).

Another cracking episode.

People really do underestimate how unique and complex Ki can be, not just in the Tenkaichi series, but in the franchise as a whole.

Great series, loving it so far. I've always found it that a great majority of people who criticize the BT series for having no depth, haven't really spent a large amount of time experimenting with the game's combat system and simply call it a game without depth based on the AI's skill alone. Kinda like the people who say Pokémon doesn't have any depth in its mechanics just because the game is easily beaten; the depth in these two games can be found when you put two skilled players against each-other, not when you fight against the AI.

Anyway, keep 'em coming

This is something that honestly just hit me when I started playing Xenoverse, Ki Blasts in the Tenkaichi games (and Raging Blast 1 and 2) are just as important as normal melee (if not more) in their own way. Coming off Xenoverse where the only things Ki Blasts do is act like a normal punch and both you and your opponent are stuck in both recovery animations, here it's so versatile, you can use them with every movement option (besides dragon dash), cancel into it trough melee attacks, cancel out of it trough supers, specials and movement, and it makes for great zoning as well, specially in Raging Blast 2 where you can cancel out of them into almost everything, it makes for a great escape option if you are in a pinch.

This episode, and the next ones are the ones I was waiting to coment about because these are what I'm waiting to have my eyes open about. Awesome stuff in the other episodes too, compared to Raging Blast 2, things like movement are much more broad (and better) here. Keep it up

This is a really interesting series, but I have to ask--why do you always use the same rotation of music tracks? I don't mean to be critical, but watching them back to back is a bit jarring with more or less the same track throughout. :eh:

These were the only tracks that seemed appropriate for a tutorial-esk video. The other songs seemed too quick paced and would distract from the video. Also, when I was making the videos, they were built upon the same construct... something I guess I never considered would be an issue. My main task was ensuring the information would fit the video. The background music was my attempt to keep the viewers from falling asleep to my voice. A bit disheartening to find out that the music is doing the job, lol.

Thanks for the feedback though.

I am surprised that you concluded that rush-chaining works because the act of transformation eats up the cooldown time between rush attacks. I had always thought that it worked because transformation loaded a new character in the neutral position, thus with no blast cooldowns in effect.

Everything in these videos is a reflection of my own understanding of how the game works. You may actually be right, because this would also explain it. No matter how it is explained or understood, the important idea to take away is that the cooldown time is removed from the equation via transformation. Good to know you guys are still watching. I stopped posting links because I didn't want to keep flooding the boards. Once everything is uploaded, I'll provide a link to the playlist.

25 videos total, explaining (through my own perspective) the depth of Tenkaichi, and how it compares to the traditional fighter.

Just watched every episode, and I have to say, this was a fantastic series. You've made me realise there was more depth to the Tenkaichi series than I was willing to credit it for.

Amazing work, ZeroAnnihilated.

I hope you can one day do a Depth Of Budokai series some time in the future because I would love to see that. :P

I would expect something like that to come from a Budokai master. *cough, SaiyanJin, cough*
