I still don't know whether to believe they genuinely mistook it for something else or if they just spilled the beans a bit early

Sadly, it seems like they knew what they did wrong. https://twitter.com/FUNimation/status/6 ... 0552480769BlackCatScott wrote:I still don't know whether to believe they genuinely mistook it for something else or if they just spilled the beans a bit early

They're getting a bit of abuse on twitter now ha... https://twitter.com/FUNimation/status/6 ... 6128876545
Re: DBZ Level Set Revival?
That or Kai which isn't surprising cause it won't make sense for them to re-release Z this soon for 2 reasons :Haseowolf wrote:Seems to indeed have been a goof. I am sad.https://twitter.com/FUNimation/status/6 ... 4250947584
1- They just released it on Blu-Ray.
2- They have 2 completely new products they can release instead that will probably make them more $$$,Kai&Super.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Thats a huge shame. I was really looking forward to it. They should just pull a SHOUT! and release the footage as is (given to them by TOEI)

Okay, this is the second time I've seen this in the past 48 hours. Could someone elaborate? When was this revealed? How? I need details on this, please!ShadowDude112 wrote:I won't get my hopes up, but it's possible FUNi saw the backlash from it being revealed that they ignored that survey
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Metalwario64 linked us to this tweet a little while back in the discussion thread for the current BD sets, which is from a former Funimation marketing director: https://twitter.com/lheiskell/status/623695483081351169Gaffer Tape wrote:Okay, this is the second time I've seen this in the past 48 hours. The "widescreen or fullscreen?" survey was ignored in favor of the "Digitally Remastered" "Season" sales over the "Dragon Box Z", which of course could easily be chalked up to advertising as opposed to informed purchasing.Gaffer Tape wrote:Okay, this is the second time I've seen this in the past 48 hours. The interview from this site, from a year or so ago, I think, has a mention of this.

What a major let down... Well I suppose the upside is that all Twitter users, we could use this situation as an opportunity to tweet to FUNimation our support for a 4:3 Blu-ray release of the series, as well as the other series too.

I was just thinking this. We should flood all of FUNimations social media pages about wanting a 4x3 release. I was just revisiting these againsumpter360 wrote:What a major let down... Re: DBZ Level Set Revival?

If this actually did happen, there's a very good chance I would forget all about Buu Kai and just hold out for 'seasons' 7-9 in Level sets. It's what I planned to do back when Kai was originally canceled and the Level sets were just coming out anyway.

I'd love a see the Level sets make a return. I'd drop my interest in Kai 2.0 if that happened. But I know it'll never happen.

See, I look at it like this. The orange bricks sold so well because they were all of Z released in a good collection and consistently from start to finish. Not widescreen. If they had kept it 4:3, I believe they could have sold just as well. Could have been the same shitty DVNR but in a 4:3 frame. The widescreen DBZ only caught on cause FUNi was pushing widescreen so hard. If it was 4:3, I doubt we'd get those Blu-ray season sets today.huzaifa_ahmed wrote:The "widescreen or fullscreen?" survey was ignored in favor of the "Digitally Remastered" "Season" sales over the "Dragon Box Z", which of course could easily be chalked up to advertising as opposed to informed purchasing.Gaffer Tape wrote:Okay, this is the second time I've seen this in the past 48 hours. Re: DBZ Level Set Revival?
It is painfully obvious the orange bricks sold way better than the dragonboxes because they were
1) way better marketed. Dragonboxes and level sets recieved next to no fanfare and came nearly immediately after we had just bought all the orange bricks.
2) It was the first consistent and affordable release of the series we had in America
3) Had all three audio tracks people wanted.
It had nothing to do with aspect ratio whatsoever. If anything I'd guess it'd hurt sales.
