Why no 2d game for PS4/XBoxOne?
While I enjoy Xenoverse I always ask myself, why they never release a 2d fighting game as Extreme Butoden for the next gen systems.
I'm one of the people who are absolutely in love with 2d fighing games as Street Fighter, Guilty Gear or BlazBlue... And I really would love to see a game made by Arc Systems with graphics as GG Xrd with DragonBall.
What do you think about it?

Because they're probably not as popular as the 3D titles.

Because they have been so much DB games released in 2d ever since SF 4 has brought back the 2d era to liveDoomieDoomie911 wrote:Because they're probably not as popular as the 3D titles.

They've only just gotten started with their transition to the current gen consoles. It's not like there's a track record of 2D-based games being neglected for these latest systems yet. We'll still need to wait a while before we see anything new come about, as it hasn't been that long since XV's release. I imagine it'll probably be quite some time until we see any major shift for console titles, though. Considering XV's success and end tease, they will most likely focus on pumping out additional installments of that label in the coming years. A more traditional fighter might have its turns afterwards, if not in-between some of those releases.

SFIV's "revival" of fighting games has nothing to do here since DBZ as video game franchise doesn't have many hardcore fighting fans.

Cuz everyone playing games as SF or Mortal Kombat, which went back to 2D, are hardcore fighting games...Zenkashuu wrote:Kishido wrote:Because they have been so much DB games released in 2d ever since SF 4 has brought back the 2d era to liveDoomieDoomie911 wrote:Because they're probably not as popular as the 3D titles.

I didn't unterstand the "which went back to 2D" part. Are you saying that SF was once a 3D fighting game?Kishido wrote:Cuz everyone playing games as SF or Mortal Kombat, which went back to 2D, are hardcore fighting games...
This genre requires much effort and patience, spending hours in training mode etc, things that casuals players dislike (button smashing ftw(?)). If DBZ's video game fan base was so into it then games like Super DBZ would sell tons. What I learned from them is that quantity > quality.

I was talking abotu Mortal Kombat going back to 2DZenkashuu wrote:I didn't unterstand the "which went back to 2D" part. Are you saying that SF was once a 3D fighting game?Kishido wrote:Cuz everyone playing games as SF or Mortal Kombat, which went back to 2D, are hardcore fighting games...

And lol tons of training at Mortal Kombat... Street Fighter maybe if you want to play hardcore. But you can easily change gameplay around making the game easy in terms of gameplay.
Maybe you won't like it but I personally prefer 2d fighting games cuz you could make more out of the fighting than the DB gameplay.
Just look at Hyper Dragon Ball Z (Mugen game) So loves... Same goes for Extreme B. for the 3DS
Re: Why no 2d game for PS4/XBoxOne?
The majority of MK's fan base is casuals (gore porn), you can see that by the number of players that entering tournamets. MKX started changing things a little bit, balance for example, but its online its still trash. The same can be said for DOA games, many casuals love them for the obvious reasons.
Don't get me wrong, I'ld love to see a new 2D fighting DBZ game or to be more specific 2.5D on current gen but sadly our opinions don't represent the majority of this fanbase, as it seems.

How can it no represent the majority if we never got a 2d fighting game on next gen consoles? So dunno how you already can say.. it wouln't draw the casual dragon ball fansZenkashuu wrote:The majority of MK's fan base is casuals (gore porn), you can see that by the number of players that entering tournamets. A fighting centered manga in a true "casual friendly" fightign 2D engine could draw a a lot in my eyes. You just have to try it besides doing the same "style" all the time.

Cause everyone screams "3D DBZ games" (I've lost the count of how many times I read about BT4) or they're the vocal minority. You choose.

I am OK with that. When I want to play 2D fighter, I go for Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat or Injustice.
Dragon Ball doesn't interest me that much as a 2D fighter, as for me it's just a franchise game
and the characters aren't that refined as in a standard fighter and work the same.

Super Dragon Ball Z, Budokai 3 and Burst Limit disagree with you there.MCDaveG wrote:I am OK with that. When I want to play 2D fighter, I go for Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat or Injustice.

They can disagree with me, still I don't consider them on par with my favorite fighting franchisesLord Beerus wrote:Super Dragon Ball Z, Budokai 3 and Burst Limit disagree with you there.MCDaveG wrote:I am OK with that.
