I've learned the hard way being a jerk about an opinion is no way to act, and it will catch up to you one way or the other.
Already has caught up with me, and it doesn't bother me one bit. Thing is, I don't take this sort of attitude into real life matters because the chances of me debating the differences between cartoon DVDs is so fucking slim that it's totally not worth it

Move on.
Gladly.

I'm looking forward to seeing the artwork on these DVD's like most everyone else, but my pre Z era Dragonball needs are encompassed in 16 books and 2 movies (Mystical Adventure and Path to Power) so I've no real interest in buying any series DVD's one way or the other.

A curious question...

Do all of the DBZ R2 DVDs have cover art drawn by the same artist? Or are they drawn by different artists?

Also, do you think that DB's R2s will be drawn by the same artist?

Just a little heads up that "release" was spelled wrong on daizEX's announcement of these DVDs.

Call me crazy, but I got the idea that you speak english. From what I can tell, he was saying "We're all DB fans that speak english" hence "English speaking audience".

Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru has done all the DVD packaging art, including the Dragon Box art. He has some history with doing character designs for the series, and I believe he works on One Piece now.
Also, do you think that DB's R2s will be drawn by the same artist?
I don't see why not.

Haven't seen FUNi's releases, saw part of the dub on CN way back in '01 or whenever they aired it, still fault FUNi for the first 13 episodes not being out considering I believe they're trying to wait-out Kidmark when they keep renewing their license.

My stance? I can't judge FUNi's releases positively or negatively. All I can say in favor of the Japanese releases (aside from the obvious video quality arguments) are...well, they're out. Or they will be. FUNi hasn't nailed down a release for the first 13 episodes of DragonBall, so they may be out next week or they may be out (in widescreen) in a year :P

Summary: Buy whatever the hell you want ;)

Barely.
And my point was that I couldn't care less about US DVDs of a Japanese series. To each his own.

Then you shouldn't care about this thread and thus not waste forum space by making pointless comments.

How hard is it for you people to not act like a complete load of jackasses over a nice little bit of Japanese DVD announcement news?

Thanks.

*shakes head* Boy you really have a need to always have the last word don't you?

My point was, if you don't care about the US DVDs, then why make a pointless and arrogant post concerning them in this thread? Just talk about what the original subject is and let it go. Would it kill you to do so?

Pointless and arrogant? Why, thank you! I wuv you too!

Let's pretend for a while that we can communicate like normal people, okay?

Conan the SSJ said "I'm not trying to say you guys "must" buy FUNi's releases of original DB, just that they're the most logical and wisest choice IMO. Especially considering we're all part of the English speaking audience" (and something about the North Pole).

While I do agree that Blitzen's been a bit harsh when criticizing Conan the SSJ's posts, I'm with him when he says "we all know the pros and cons of each" (Japanese DVDs vs. US DVDs).

And no, I don't consider myself, for instance, to be "part of the English-speaking audience". Let's say you're American and can understand German. Would you really consider yourself "part of the German-speaking audience of Dragon Ball"?
So "most logical and wisest choice"? Well, "to each his own."

That was my point, pretty much.

You're not taking the hint. Please. Take. The. Hint.

Olivier Hague, Jerseymilk, Blitzen, etc. C'mon. Get a god damn clue, already.

Haha, nice one.

Justs respect what eachother thinks about the release and their views. You don't have to agree, just respect.

That *was* my point. "Certain members" weren't showing respect by the way they were forming their posts.

Please explain how my posts in this topic were so "irrespectful" you just had to intervene. Unless "to each his own" was a popular nazi slogan at some point, I think they were pretty tame.

(and you might also want to read your own messages again with that same critical eye, just in case... "waste forum space"? "pointless and arrogant"?)

Hey. Take this bullshit to PM already.

Now to -hopefully- put this back on topic, this looks pretty cool looking. Although I'm not into buying big Dragonboxes or individual R2's, it'd still be something I'd watch (if someone I knew had it) since I still need to get into Dragonball.

A very nice find.

Respect is earnt, not just given. I don't respect opinions, merely put up with them. The problem with Conan's post (which my response was considered too harsh, and maybe I agree, but I still think it was fine) is that it would be the exact same problem as someone coming into a Funimation thread and giving people lip about not buying the Japanese releases, or, infact, going in to (something different for comparison) a Transformers Alternators thread on a TF board and continually harping about how you should buy Binaltechs. This happened on a forum I was on ALL THE DAMN TIME and its pretty annoying.

What we could do, from now on, unless it's dire and relevant (IE the video comparisons), don't mention either release in different threads (dont mention US vids here, dont mention JP ones in US threads), because all it seems to do is create drama between people for all kinds of different reasons.

People could also cut this whole "PROUD TO HAVE US DVDS JP ONES SUCK" and "DRAGONBOX! I OWN DRAGONBOX! I AM BEST!" crap out of their signatures too because I don't see how that could even possibly help the situation in any way, shape or form.
