I think Cole was more than decent, he was excellent. I like Sabat and think his voice is natural sounding, but Cole's is even more so, and I think he's a better actor.

Absolutely, positively not. She was absolutely awful. Granny Frieza was single handedly the worst example of character assassination in dubbing history, bar none. Completely awful in every sense of the word. That androgynous, raspy voice, that ear piercing cackling, those hoarse grunts. Just....ugh. Terrible.Singh is King wrote:Was Linda Young really that good as Freeza?

Re: Was _ really that bad/good as _?
Linda Young is the worst Frieza ever
She did not sound the actual gender and just made him into a grandma that smokes too much
Let's say Frieza WAS a grandma alien that smokes: the acting is still bad
Was Kyle Hebert really that good as the narrator?

Duncan Brannan was fine as Babidi. He could not sound more different from Yanami, but both voices work.
Young is awful as Freeza, enough said.
Hebert is an awful narrator. He doesn't have a narrator's voice, especially not DB's, which should sound evuncular.

It means kind and friendly towards younger people. It just means the narrator shouldn't be all "cool", it should be a guy telling a story to a child. Perhaps the better term would've been "grandfatherly".

He's good in Kai, but prior to that, not really: sounded like a variant of his Goku.Draconic wrote:Was Sean Schemmel really good as Nail?

Dobson's performance was much more natural than Schemmel's early on.
Are you? Apparently Guldo can't sound whiny, but the narrator can sound like a monster truck announcer.I'm open to different interpretations.

Guldo isn't a deep multifaceted character, that's a legit version of the character.Ree wrote:read my posts again, I was complaining because of flanderization.

We do know what the tone of the story is, and it's not a monster truck rally.

is ANYONE deep in Dragon Ball? no but you can capture their personality without flanderization.
and thats why he sucks but I'm more open to different interpretations of an unseen character than one that can be seen.
does Jim Conrad sound like a grandpa or Joji Yanami? not really but hes good.
Oh and from what I heard of Sean Schemmel Nail his acting is stilted.

Re: Was _ really that bad/good as _?
Many characters have more depth than Guldo, such as Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo, Muten Roshi, and even Goku. It also depends on what you think "depth" means. You keep saying Guldo was Flanderized (Flanders actually has layers), but you never say what other traits he has. And who cares if some character is Flanderized? He's only in the show for 3 or 4 episodes.Ree wrote:is ANYONE deep in Dragon Ball? no but you can capture their personality without flanderization.

You keep bringing up look as if that's the determining factor, the narrator is unseen, but his voice needs to match the tone of the show. This has nothing to do with being a grandpa. You seemingly missed the point. The narrator should have those qualities in his voice of someone older and wiser, almost telling a story to a grandchild.

Re: Was _ really that bad/good as _?
Yes but i dont consider them "deep" because in the end they're pretty simple.
Maybe exaggerated might be a better term instead of flanderized.
I know what you meant and my point still remains.
Jim Conrad doesnt really sound like that but he tries his best and is GOOD/

Was Masako Nozawa that bad as Bardock?
I think her in-between (not too happy as Kakarot, but not too dark as T-u-r-l-e-s) voice for the character was generally cool.
