"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Could it be possible that they will take a break for db super so toriyama gets time to write more plot? Quite a few animes have taken breaks before introducing new seasons...
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
They take everything into account, not just what has Super in it's name.Chuquita wrote:
How much merch have they really been putting out for Super yet? Or are they waiting to put out the bulk of it once Uni 6 starts? I might just not be looking in the right places, but I haven't seen that much merchandise for Super online.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Dragon Ball Super is going to run for as long as they want it to be, as long as merchandises sell. There's no reason for them to cancel the series this soon.

Monster Hunter will replace One Piece.
Toei needs to take a hiatus from One Piece, because they can't slow the pacing more than already is.

Toriyama doesn't want to feel pressured anymore.

Its possible. These BOG/ROF retellings also work to give him time to write the U6 arc.sangofe wrote:Could it be possible that they will take a break for db super so toriyama gets time to write more plot? Quite a few animes have taken breaks before introducing new seasons...

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
On that note I seriously doubt Toei would make a new show take the place of "the show that comes before One Piece" when it has been the Shounen Jump hour for the past like 5-6 years.
This really sounds like baseless speculation

Wait we don't know the studio? I thought this was based around that it was already confirmed as being a Toei anime. You mean they haven't said the studio yet? I'm pretty sure if it was a Toei show, they would have said so. Toei isn't shy about saying new acquisitions. No offense but this sounds like one of those rumors that starts and spreads around the net like wildfireChibiGoku wrote:The only thing is we don't know who the studio animating this is, as that doesn't seem to be announced.

They didn't say what studio yet? This may have nothing to do with Toei then. I feel better now.garfield15 wrote:On that note I seriously doubt Toei would make a new show take the place of "the show that comes before One Piece" when it has been the Shounen Jump hour for the past like 5-6 years.

Okay, thanks to a friend of mine, I wanna apologize for the commotion I caused on here.
According to this article that Fuji TV put up, Monster Hunter Stories will indeed be getting it's own time slot, which it's been 10 years since Fuji TV has opened up a new time slot for an anime. This is actually significant, because Fuji TV has not had a new time slot available since 2006, once One Piece moved to Sunday mornings at 9:30AM.
So either way, I caused a panic for no reason, and for that, I apologize.
(To explain real quickly, I was going on the opinion Fuji TV wouldn't open up a new time slot for Monster Hunter, but it seems the network sees it significant enough to warrant it's own slot, which makes sense. Just didn't think they would do it. Again, once again, I apologize)

I figured that would be the case, but no need to apologize. That kind of speculation always comes up when relevant new shows are announced.ChibiGoku wrote:Okay, thanks to a friend of mine, I wanna apologize for the commotion I caused on here.

The problem was how it was derailing to "oh no, Super is flopping and will be cancelled" when there was no time for any kind of reaction even if that was the case. Or "Super was planned to be short", when i don't see how anyone involved would benefit if 70% of the new show was a movie retelling.
They're starting to put the "Super" brand in quite a few upcoming merchandising, from cards to different kinds of action figures and even food, but i believe nothing is out yet. Or maybe only the last item.sintzu wrote:They take everything into account, not just what has Super in it's name.Chuquita wrote:

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
That actually makes sense why you were getting annoyed. I don't think I had intentions to make it out to be that, as sometimes time slots can be planned quite far in advance, as well as a shift in what a company had originally planned in that slot, which isn't always a reflection of how well the product is doing. Plus, it's too early to even gauge how well Dragon Ball Super is doing, overall, since we're only about 3 months in. Actually, on that note, I was checking Bandai's reports and it does seem like there's been an increase in profits for Dragon Ball in this year, compared to last year. Not sure if it's due to Super or just in general a bigger push for the Dragon Ball franchise. Either way, people don't have to worry about that for awhile now.Araki wrote:I figured that would be the case, but no need to apologize. Wow, it's doing better than Precure, and Precure's the one that seemingly gets first dibs on Toei's good action animators.
No correlation between good action animation and toy sales, I guess. o_O

And holy shit, did Yokai Watch explode in popularity in the last year and half or what? I mean... damn.

It was mostly because of the anime. It's dying down a bit now, though.Lord Beerus wrote:And holy shit, did Yokai Watch explode in popularity in the last year and half or what? I mean... damn.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm more shocked that Super Sentai has completely fallen off that list and Dragon Ball has bumped Kamen Rider down. I am not surprised though that Gundam is still top of the food chain but I guess with an endless product like Gunpla it's not that hard to see....maybe if they brought the MG figurise line back...I'd build a Goku.Lord Beerus wrote:I'm more shocked that Dragon Ball is outperforming One Piece.

Going on hiatus. Too much stuff in RL to deal with for me to keep up with posts here for now. Was fun, hope you all have a nice day and future! Volt signing off.

The mere fact that Piccolo is in there gives me hope he will play a big role in the U6 arc.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It has not. Bandai always calls Sentai "Power Rangers" in their charts, it's one of their biggest properties too.voltlunok wrote:I'm more shocked that Super Sentai has completely fallen off
As for Dragon Ball, it's not just increasing its profits by a good margin in 2015, but we can see they're expecting a steady rise for the next year, and to keep that going in the 2nd half. I think that probably confirms they're not planning to end DB Super anytime soon.
