That's great! I got the message and have a reply typed, it just won't submit right now. I keep getting some annoying firewall block by something called Sucuri Cloudproxy - whatever that is. Once I can message again I'll get my reply over to ya.

Sorry to double post!

NitroEX, sadly nothing seems to be working with my messages. If you feel comfortable doing so, drop a message with your email and I can shoot over my reply. Only if you're okay with doing so of course.

Well I have even more Ocean Kai news, this time back to Cole Howard, and it isn't exactly good.

I was talking with his girlfriend today, who told me Howard was up at Ocean this weekend and his Reddit account usage came into question again and they wanted a look at it because of his recent leak of the Z Kai role. He apparently had talked to several other Reddit users about his Z Kai role through private messages, which Ocean read. Long story short, Howard was asked to delete the account and refrain from further discussions of any roles he gets through them in the future without consent.

This was his Reddit account, which has now been deleted:

Google's last archive for the account is on September 6th, so my friend's story does check out.

Ouch! Tough times for Mr Howard :| I seem to be noticing that the NDAs seem much stricter for main character roles than the extras, mainly the Blue Water cast.

I wonder what he told those Reddit users…

If anyone at Ocean Studios is reading this, you MUST release this dub. This topic is now 161 with 163,289 page views, it would be an awful waste if nothing were to come from this dub considering the HUGE fan support!

They did; it's called getting paid. :P

They're not entitled or obligated in any way to release this dub to the public, but maaaan, we sure would like to see it.

I don't. Because then I'd have to buy a Goku costume and have a friend record me pretending to fly. :P

In all seriousness, it's been 5 years. I think any chance of this dub ever seeing the light of day has passed, sadly.

It's highly, highly unlikely, but as I've said before, a lot of things have happened with this franchise that I never thought would happen. If there's anything that the Dragon Ball franchise has taught me, it's that the phrase "never say never" really is true.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I still think it has something to do with the Buu arc. I think they wanted to wait for FUNi's dub to be done and 1/2 way word of Buu Kai came out which surprised everyone and jammed thing ups again. Now who's behind this is rather confusing. I'm pretty sure FUNimation has something on this. I want to argue it's a similar situation that the Android arc and on had back in the early 2000's. But thinking about it too much gives me a headache lol

I'm sure I've said this a billion times, but i don't understand how anyone will make money from this. Is the Canadian network that airs it(YTV? Teletoon?) going buy the show from... FUNimation(?) on a per-episode basis or in a package of chunks of episodes? Are the TV ratings going to benefit... FUNimation(?, seriously, are they funding this?)? There's apparently a replacement score, so I guess someone will be picking up royalties for whenever it plays on TV.

I just don't get it. Is their plan to shove it on Canadian TV, collect whatever meager revenue that will achieve, and chalk it up as a loss? Is there any chance of a home release for this? Canada already sells the FUNimation dub in whatever stores still bother to house anime; are they going to be right next each other?

Haha! Yeah!

But have a read through it. It's basically someone pretending to be Lee Tockar and claims as of 15th July that the dub is airing somewhere in the world.

Of course though, just loooook at that thing! I can't see it being real at all. But I found it fascinating, if it is a charade, that it went on so long and was as elaborate as it is (as elaborate as a cheap knock-off facebook page can be). I mean, first post is 2011 and then it picks up again in 2014. Hmmmmmm :/

I've received some amazing information :) I'm just a little wary about posting about it in case I cause trouble :/

To summarise as much as possible:

There is a focus on doing the original justice! Although the product will still be a different take. In one instance, there was a notable use of a pun and it's hoped this was a one off thing.

Also, the new score is apparently, 'phenominal'. I know people aren't for a new score, but to me, finally, we'll have something new for this show, something consistent. It was likened to scores composed for 'DC stuff'. I dunno what stuff exactly.

I've asked more questions and hopefully I can get some in-depth answers :)

No sadly, we're still at the mercy of whoever is dealing with distribution I guess.

Buuuuut, there's now a possibility I can get an update as to where they are at in that process. It seems there is still a chance we will see it. Inquiries have got to be made and I dunno how long that could take. It seems like such a big project, there's no sense in letting it go unseen now.

I imagine the battle is in finding a channel who want to air it. I have read that showing anime has declined in Canada. Which channel aired Death Note? Maybe they should try that one.

But I'm very happy to have gotten some of those details :)
