The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
Now I know there's no official statement or anything, but for years people have been debating on whether or not Cell can go SSJ. Which got me thinking. If he actually can go SSJ, what else could he do? Could he go SSJG? Could he fuse with Namekian's, become a Great Ape, transform into Golden Cell, like Freeza, transform like Coola go SSJ4 etc?
Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
He's made out of different races, but because he is none of them (only a bio-engineered creature), he posesses the traits that made him what he was at the time.

Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
Cell doesn't have a tail so he can't become an Oozaru. And he only has a fraction of Piccolo's DNA, which specifically only grants him the trait of Namekian regeneration. And the only trait he gained from Freeza's DNA was that the ability to survive fatal wounds and breath in space. He cannot become Golden Freeza because Cell only has certain bits and pieces of DNA and inherited traits and features from many different warriors.

Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
Wasn't Freeza's mutation inherited by Cell, instead of the "will" to survive? I know it's met with certain conditions (i.e. absorbing the androids), but it's mutation unlike any other nonetheless.
Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
Because Cell doesn't have a single origin, it's quite likely that he isn't privileged with certain race-exclusive abilities (SSG, Golden Form, Namekian Fusion, etc.) that his counterparts were shown flaunting. He may appear superior to them on paper, but his power, along with his skill sets are probably prone to stagnating at a certain point.

Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
Well, here's what we know Cell got from his various sources of DNA...
[*] Physical features of Namekians (green, stretchy limbs -- his tail at least), Freeza's race (similar body structure overall, the whole "armor with crystal parts in some places" thing especially in perfect form), and "various other lifeforms" (insectoid features, like his bug wings and the way his larval form molts and Imperfect Cell comes out of the shell)
[*] Various techniques used by Goku, Piccolo, and Freeza (...maybe others too? but off the top of my head I can only remember him or the Cell Juniors definitely using Goku, Piccolo, and Freeza moves; others may be filler)
[*] Naturally high power (from all combined)
[*] Regeneration (from the Namekians)
[*] Ability to create children that resemble smaller, mutated versions of himself (presumably from the Namekians?)
[*] Ability to survive in space (from Freeza's race)
[*] Ability to survive absurd amounts of body destruction (from Freeza's race)
[*] Physically transforms into other forms to become stronger (similar to Freeza's race, though Cell's are higher transformations rather than his weaker forms being suppressed ones)
[*] Near-death boosts (from the Saiyans)
[*] Golden aura identical to Super Saiyan when powered up; can upgrade to a stronger but slower bulked-up form at will, and then even further to golden with lightning after he's pushed past his normal limits in battle (so presumably, he inherited something like the Super Saiyan forms, considering that the various auras and bulked-up state match up pretty much exactly with the different Super Saiyan variations used during the Cell saga)
So... considering all that, it wouldn't be surprising at all if Cell could do various other Saiyan/Freeza/Namekian things that he just didn't have the opportunity to do during the series. I figure he at least has the potential for a SSJ3-equivalent beyond his "Super Perfect" SSj2-like state, even if he can't go Oozaru-Cell or anything like that (his tail doesn't really behave like a Saiyan tail after all; more like Freeza's tail but with the addition of being able to eat things with it.) Maybe his version of Namekian fusion would just be eating a Namekian -- maybe they'd make him stronger than eating anyone else (short of absorbing the Androids of course) would. Super Saiyan God wouldn't be a possibility due to the "righteous/pure-hearted" requirement of course, but maybe something like Freeza's golden form might be a possibility.

Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
Toriyama seemed apt to give Cell whatever abilities fit the plot, so, for example, if he was introduced Post-RoF, I think he could become SSG or gold like Freeza.
It's also important to note Cell has techniques that we never see, but he can oddly still use. Take the genki dama, for example.

Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
Agreed. Until Cell got a zenkai most people would've said that he couldn't get them... and then he gets one, even though he's already a high-level SSJ... even though it's stated that once Saiyans go SSJ zenakis become extremely small.Pantalones wrote:Well, here's what we know Cell got from his various sources of DNA...

His regeneration is also greater than Piccolo's so it seems that not only does Cell has the same powers as the races he's made up of but his powers are actually made better. Meaning that he should be a bigger "prodigy" than Freeza, get Golden faster, be able to be SSJG for longer, etc.
Good thing he didn't train before the Cell Games haha.

Giant Golden Saiyan God Cell 4 would be a nightmare

Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
I've always figured Cell's higher-level regeneration isn't just a "Cell does everything better" thing so much as a combination of his Namekian and Freeza traits. It's partly because of the way Namekian regeneration gets better as you reach higher levels of power, since it does consume ki to use (compare Nail and Piccolo being weakened just from the energy required to grow back an arm earlier on, to Piccolo in the Buu saga regenerating from just his head and upper torso when the kids accidentally broke his statue) and partly because Cell also has Freeza's "can survive virtually any injury" thing (Freeza still trying to fight after being cut in half; then surviving a Goku blast and the planet blowing up on him while in that cut-in-half state. Also, being revived in the form of cut-apart chunks of meat in Resurrection F and still technically being alive in that state.)His regeneration is also greater than Piccolo's so it seems that not only does Cell has the same powers as the races he's made up of but his powers are actually made better. Meaning that he should be a bigger "prodigy" than Freeza, get Golden faster, be able to be SSJG for longer, etc.
So due to his higher level of power Cell'd naturally have higher-level Namekian regeneration just from that power advantage... but then he also can withstand much more serious damage to his body due to the Freeza traits, so he doesn't need to have as much of his body intact to regenerate as Piccolo would.
Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
Cell can be anything, or nothing. Freeza was outta fucking nowhere something, which no one would have bought if it was written on deviantart or fanfiction.net, but buys it now since it's official. Cell could outta nowhere be something incredible, or he could possibly one day be stated to not have the same potential of the cells he has. No way to know for now.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: The possibilities of Cell's DNA.
The only thing Heroes can do with Cell is what Dimps already did back in Budokai 2, give him a Majin state. Or... A Baby possession (like Janemba).

I supose at the very least Cell would now have rage boosts thanks to Vegeta's cells.

Goku too. If only Cell could quiet his heart, he may be able to get the blue SSGSS aura, right?GogesusSSG wrote:I supose at the very least Cell would now have rage boosts thanks to Vegeta's cells.
