Dragon Ball GT Retconned - What would you change?

So, imagine Dragon Ball Super is about to end.

You are hired for the sequel, the remade version of Dragon Ball GT.

Which stuff would you keep? What would go to sleep?

This. It won't be GT if you remade the whole show from scratch. Why remake GT when you can make your own new DB show with new stories instead? We don't need to see the same stories told over and over again.

Pilaf would still make a wish with the Black star dbs but it would be something other then turning Goku into a kid like wishing for a lot of $$$.

Each Z fighter would go after a ball and fight whoever has them.

I would keep the revenge against the Saiyans plot but I'd change Baby and limit it to Vegeta's side of the arc instead of giving it it's own afterwords.

The Super 17 arc can be cut out.

The shadow dragons would be the universe 7's guards of the dbs and would go after whichever planet missuses them in order to punish them and deactivate their set of dbs.

Ice,Nova&Sin Shenron would keep their current designs but the other 4 would get a serious makeover.

Their power levels would differ so each Z fighter would be able to fight one.

There won't be any need for a new Ssj form.

- Pilaf's wish turns Goku into a decrepit old man who has to deal with not being able to fight or train for a while.
- Vegeta continues Uub's training after King Kai informs him Vegeta was Goku's pick as Uub's replacement master should anything happen to him.
- Goten, Trunks and Piccolo go into space, I say Piccolo because he's indirectly responsible for the Black Stars existing so he wants to fix it.
- There would be a multi-side war going on in space between the renewed PTO with Sorbet leading and Shisami & the Abo Kado twins as his top guys, the Luud cult which would be sacrificing people to revive the old God Luud and Bebi who'd be leading the machine mutants as a sort of protection force to ensure no more species are wiped out like the Tuffles.
- Ledgic would join the away team and become a sort of swordsmanship instructor for Trunks.
- Goten, feeling he has no sense of his own identity besides being a "ladies man" would join up with the Galactic Patrol and live in space.
- The away team would visit Namek where Piccolo would interact with his people with hints being dropped he intends to kill himself to prevent the Black Stars from ever being used again.
- Luud would be the big end villain who'd target Earth after learning of its location. His cult would use the DBs to fully restore him back to life while the heroes use the Black Stars to restore Goku. They'd all fight Luud and ultimately kill him but Piccolo would die in the process.

Honestly GT doesn't bother me all that much. I would just wrinkle out the consistency errors, redesign Super 17 and throw in Super Saiyan Gods in with the Super Saiyan 4s. It's weird now watching GT and realizing that neither Goku nor Vegeta will ever use it in GT because of when it was written. I would probably add in the ties to Dragon Ball Heroes and Dragon Ball Online to the mix too. The year Buu dies is also the year Baby Buu was born, and Goku Jr's friend appears in the Heroes Manga along with the Shadow Dragons, so at least the manga is trying to ground GT as being canon. Still, with certain Super manga events happening recently there's still consistency errors.

Interesting thread idea. My thoughts:

• I like the concept of a galactic DB search, but since the third arc of Super will do that, would be kind of redundant. Visiting different planets and exploring different settings/environments can be awesome from a world-building/animation POV though.

• The Baby saga seemed to me to be the best executed/most well-developed of the four arcs, but I really don't like the Tsufuru-jin backstory and how it relates to the Saiyans.

• I'm not really a fan of the SSJ4 design. It's interesting that it stems differently from the ordinary SSJ forms, but I kind of like that Oozaru was left in the past as the Saiyans evolved, and became more ingratiated with humans.

• We don't know if EOZ will be retained, but if it is, I'd like Uub to be featured. Revisiting the Uub/Buu merger might be weird, since I think at this point Buu is basically just the Dai+South Kaioshins in a pink body. But I think he should be a main character, and should get legitimate major fights. Don't mind Goku training him one way or the other.

• Super 17 is fun because of the Hell elements, bringing back science, and finally having a 17/Goku confrontation. But I think that since 17 donated his chi to the genki-dama (how did he do this BTW? Odd...) kind of closes his story. The dragon fist is a fun technique though. I think over-reliance on chi attacks makes fights boring (in terms of choreography and otherwise). I don't like killing Piccolo off though, it was a powerful scene emotionally but I don't think it should be necessary (especially if the black star dragon balls plot is dropped).

• I like the idea that the Dragon Balls should have some 'cost' of usage, but il not sure what it would be. If the shadow dragons or some new iteration of the concept are to re-appear, I'd like for each of them to be fleshed out, and to have longer fights and more intimidating designs. They should appear as a threat (as it stands, the only one who did for me was the one star dragon).

• Goku and possibly Vegeta disappearing not only from Earth but the mortal plane as a whole would be good in that it would give some finality to their stories. The afterlife right now doesn't do that, maybe Sabat was onto something when he said that he expects Goku and Vegeta to be legitimate, full-fledged gods by the end of Super in some interview (nothing official I believe, just an aside in an interview or some Reddit AMA). If they exist outside of the mortal plane then the cast on Earth will have to fend for themselves.

- Vegeta would suprise everyone and pull out ssj3 against Super C17.
- Make most Evil Dragons become more interesting characters.

- Everyone would divide to fight the Evil Dragons and not only Pan/Goku:
Vegeta would Kill two.
Uub would kill one.
Gohan/Goten/Trunks (Gotenks) would kill one.
Goku/Pan would kill one.
Nuova Shenron would still be killed by Omega. And Goku would still kill Omega.

That's mainly it and I'd just change how they went about doing it. I'd Goku as an adult and have Vegeta, Trunks and Goten go with them on their adventure.

I'd introduce a better villain than Baby. Skip the Super Android 17 saga. Change the designs of the Shadow Dragons. Not have it revolve so much about Goku and give more screen time to the others etc.

The entire premise of GT (searching the universe for the black star balls) becomes incredibly pointless when we're going to be doing the same thing in Super, but in another universe. It feels like a humongous step-down in scale. If you change the premise, then it stops being GT and turns into something completely different.

It's not really an assumption. Even if the universe 6 arc ends up being the worst the franchise has seen, the scale is still huge, we're jumping from one universe to the next, that much has been confirmed already. Whether or not a sub-plot will be happening in universe 7 while the crew goes to 6 is unknown at this point, but at least we know that they're going beyond the universe.

Traveling through the galaxy or the universe is definitely a step-down, just like the Cell arc is a step-down from the Freeza arc in terms of scale.

But your assuming that they are jumping to U6 to go search it's universe for dragon balls when really all we know is they're jumping to U6 and that's really it. We know nothing of U6 and for all we know they are just gonna search U6's equivalent of earth. GT still has a more impressive scale for it's search cause it goes BEYOND Earth and to other planets.

Yes super is going to another universe but that's not really grand when you consider the fact we've barely seen universe 7 as a whole and GT at least tried to expand that universe, showing different worlds besides Namek and Earth. The U6 arc MIGHT just go "Hey! Here's U6 earth and that's....really it. HOPE YA HAD FUN GUYS!" So all and all I'd just say wait and see but this "GT and the Black Star Ball search are pointless now cause U6!" stuff really isn't adding to the conversation of the thread so I'm gonna stop there and go on topic.

I actually wouldn't change much. I'd let Pan have a more active roll, let her go SSJ.

I liked someone's idea of having Ledgic join the crew, it makes me think of Goku and Crew going across the universe picking up both a dragon ball and a crew member at each stop till we have this ensemble cast of misfits and try hards all working towards one goal.

I would change things in the Super 17 arc to let Vegeta achieve SSJ4 there rather then have it shoe horned in with Bulma's Blutz wave machine. Which reminds me! More GT Vegeta, He's the only Vegeta I ever liked because he was so...domesticated at that point. It was hilarious! Oh and let him beat Super 17 alongside 18.

I would let others have a shadow dragon to fight and make each dragon's wish personal to that person. Like Krillin's wish to remove the bombs from 18 and 17 comes back to bite him in the form of Haze Shenron or something.

Things I'd ditch though...ugh...Daltaki. Daltaki and Zunama. That's really it, they were really creepy almost rapey characters and I just....no. *shivers*

Why wouldn't they? Toyotaro's manga basically confirmed that already. It's extremely unlikely they won't at this point.

Going off Toyotaro's manga which is already deviating from the Anime (And remember the manga is supposed to be an adaptation of the anime, not the other way around.) doesn't confirm anything. It's merely speculation. Until U6 happens...nothing is really confirmed.

2. SSJ 4 For both (Vegeta and Goku) and the fusion as well.
3. The grand Universe tour remains but Add Mr. Satan.
4. Vegeta's mustache.

Out the door:
1. Oozaru Bebi can't overpower Goku SSJ 4.
2. Do not lend your strength to Goku SSJ 4, He is fine.
3. No Kid Goku or Change his Tan and make him to resemble his original skin color.
4. Gogeta SSJ 4 can't last just 10 minutes.
5. Pan should not help Goku in the fight against the Shadow Dragons unless she turns SSJ in the process.
6. Don't kill Piccolo, just kill Yamtcha Again.
7. If you're bringing Cell and Freeza back, make them fuse so they can become a real threat. If not, remove them completely.

New things:
1. SSJ 5
2. SSJ 4 Gohan
3. Make the other Shadow Dragons aside Omega, more appealing and more dangerous looking just like the two twin dragons.
4. Mr. Satan goes with Goku, Trunks and Pan to space.
5.Bring Goku back to life for a new threat years later after the Shadow Dragons.
6. Bills and Whis are a part of GT too.
7. The most powerful form of the SSJ God is SSJ 4 (Make it happen)
8. Bebi kills Bulma
