Art for custom transformations. I was a kid when I started looking them up and I used to think they were the coolest thing ever. Now, I think most of them look hokey and too focused on looking cool instead of practical and evolutionary.

- SSJ3. When you have lots of them it's hard to tell who is who. I blame Heroes for this.

- Android/Cell Saga. It's already been talked about in this thread.

- The original Z anime with filler. I didn't read the manga for the longest time. I was surprised at what wasn't in the manga that I assumed would be (driving episode, the entirety of the Pikkon arc). The manga was also a whole lot more concise and easier to re-read multiple times.

- Gotenks. I thought he was inventive and then I watched his arc in the Buu saga and hated him.

SSJ Vegeta: "Bitch, I'm adorable."

Would the orange bricks count? "Wow they made the footage look all shiny and new and in wide screen too!"

I was all about those Dragon Ball video games as a kid. I would buy entire systems and handhelds just to play the latest game the day it was released. I took a pair of pliers to my SNES to play the Butoden series and Hyper Dimension. I imported a Japanese Sega Saturn to play Legends and Shin Butoden. I bought Sagas twice just to make sure it was bad on every console! Much to my chagrin I can't really stand to play a lot of these games anymore. The ratio of good to bad is easily around 1 to 5 in my book. The biggest realization of this came in the form of Budokai 3. Everything in that game just drives me bonkers now. I cant stand how you enter a red spot on the map, watch a couple cardboard cut outs say 3 lines of dialogue to each other and then immediately get booted out to the map again. This sometimes happens multiple times in a row. Combing the overworld for Dragon Balls is so slow and tedious. Dragon Arena makes me want to kill myself. I know everyone shits on Dragon Rush but it truly is a stupid mechanic. The fight is constantly interrupted so I can play keep away from an impending "rock, paper, scissor" match that can lose me a fuck ton of life. I can't stand to play more than 10 minutes of what was once my favorite video game in the world.

Hmmmm I don't really know about this one. I can't say there's been anything. Linda Young as Frieza, I didn't exactly love but I was perfectly fine with it at the time but now it's distracting to hear.

If something ever happened to my Dragon-boxes and the new Bluray season sets, I would rather go back to VHS tapes of the series then go back to the orange bricks. Glad I gave em away for free to my brother. lol Yeah...I know the new season sets are cropped and the colors has been messed with but it looks less crappy and at-least stuff on the screen don't get deleted lol
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Two things: First being the funimation dub. I use to be obsessed with it and hated the original, I thought funimation was accurate. However since I started watching the original I realised how much the dub butchered the show and so I developed a distaste for it.

Second thing: fake namek filler and the children on that ship. Use to love these two as a kid, but now I find them to be incredibly boring and a waste of time.

Super Saiyans Transformations..the original Super Saiyan is one of the coolest things in a cartoon EVER! but as time went on some puny human cyborgs were able to destroy such a legendary thing and then it was further degraded by the fact that kids could use that transformation without ANY effort and the fact that it has "levels" and now its just hair colour change.. like WTF? this is getting stupid.

Goku:I REALLY liked this guy back when i was a kid but now i just realized how shallow&lackluster his character is and the fact that he hogs 99% of the spotlight just annoys me to no end.

For me, this would be the character of... Vegeta. Oh yeah, everybody's going to have a fit over this. Allow me to explain.

When I was a kid, I liked Vegeta and pretty much hated Goku. For some reason, I was always drawn more to secondary characters over the main characters. I would love Vegeta because he was a "bad ass," which is the kid thing to do. But over time, I started to sour on him. Vegeta's "bad assery" waned. When I thought about it, there's nothing cool about constantly being negative, rude, and disrespectful. As I got older, I was more interested in those who are good-hearted. I hated Superman as a kid, but grew to like him for the same reason I started to like Goku. There's already so much negativity in the world and it is uplifting to see someone with a positive attitude. It's uplifting to see someone who is selfless and saves someone for the sake of saving someone, not for a reward or personal gain. Vegeta did everything for personal gain. He was selfish and brash, but only because he thought he was the greatest thing ever. When faced with a situation where Vegeta was outmatched, he quickly became a sniveling little back-paddling jackass. There really is something to be admired about someone like Goku, who doe not give up, who does not quit, and who would do everything in his power to overcome evil. Upon battling Reacoome, Vegeta sat back and did nothing. Vegeta tried against Freeza, but for most of the fight, was just sitting back and watching as Gohan and Kuririn fought a monster who was seemingly infinitely stronger than they were. Any time something gets too hard for Vegeta, he just gets upset and stands around. Goku, on the other hand, keeps going until he can't go anymore. That's all the difference. Goku is a much more positive character and I know that's why people are drawn to Vegeta, because they can't relate to the ultimate "good guy" who never gives up. But that's the thing - you're not supposed to relate to him. He is the perfect hero which people should strive to be. Of course he's not perfect at all and he has his own selfish reasons, which is one of the things that soured me a little on Goku later on when I realized all of that, but still, he is a much more positive character than Vegeta ever was and I like that. I like a happy person over a miserable one. I like someone who sees the positive in everything, not just someone who's always negative. I like the person who will never give up over the one who starts trembling every time something doesn't go his way. I like someone who does things for others, to save others, to help others, than someone who does everything for himself only.

Basically, I liked Vegeta as a kid because he was "bad ass" and "cool." At that time, everyone loved Goku most and thought I was crazy for preferring Vegeta over Goku. I'd do the typical kid thing, trying to find ways in which Vegeta was stronger than Goku. I would imagine a story past Z where Vegeta became the most powerful. Then, I realized that I'm more drawn to Goku's positive nature (I'm a pretty positive person), and actually started seeing the series for what it is, mainly that Goku being the protagonist, is more powerful than Vegeta for nearly all of it. How freaking ironic that now, I'm one of the seemingly few who prefer Goku over Vegeta (there even being the fan term "Goku fan boy") and now Vegeta is starting to get some rub in the new content. It's kind of funny.

I've never understood this criticism of Goku, because he is kinda the main character. Now with Vegtea I can kinda see why somebody would have this criticism but not with Goku.

I think we really need a sticky or a good thread to go back to so that when people have this argument it doesn't have to be rehashed a thousand times.

Side note: I also think he's a shallow character but that's just me.

SSJ3 Transformation. I initially loved this transformation because it was unique to Goku and Gotenks but eventually everybody started to be SSJ3
A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years :)
