SSJ3 and SSJ2 are not prerequisites of SSJ4 and SSJG. At least, nothing implies they are. I don't think SSJ is required for SSJG either, considering there's that original SSJG legend. Being a SSJ, however, opens a path for SSGSS, which leads me to believe SSJ4/Oozaru and SSJG could also be combined into something new. There are three paths:

Why was SSG chosen over SSJ4?

"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

Interesting idea! New ssj forms could simply be stronger Or larger gateways to increase the levels of God powers one can store in their body.fadeddreams5 wrote:SSJ3 and SSJ2 are not prerequisites of SSJ4 and SSJG. I'm starting to see ssg as a power that depends on a person's own personal power. The weaker you are, the pess godly powers you can store. The stronger you are, yhe more god powers you can store.
Ssgss is simply Goku mastering ssj to allow it to also open a gateway to store more godly powers(like the original ssg, the blue hair is a side effect of storing godly energy while in ssj)
those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it~ Edmund Burke (at least that's what Google says)

Hard to agree on that. Most of the movies held much more contained lore about their settings than RoF. Even Broly's first movie provided a wider context to the form of events. Wrath of the dragon probably had the most mythos to itself among all the movies. Remember BoG is just another party for bulma where everything just happens, because plot-convenience and a villain's 1-track goal and 10-day-waiting cell- level of patience. The movies may have had ass-pull to formulaic endings but they weren't predictable. RoF was from start to finish.Bullza wrote:RoF may have been predictable and lacking in world building but it still makes all the movies look like shit in comparison except for Battle of Gods.

If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.

SSJ4 already appeared in GT.
but i also read somewhere that there is only one super saiyan transformation. the rest are just different versions of it. that is why the characters used to call it 'ascended ssj' before ssj2.
i also read that Toriyama wanted to finish the franchise with SSJ3 as the epic transformation.
