What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy?
Re: What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy
Whenever someone states that the Cell Saga is the best written of all the sagas with a straight face and then throws a tantrum whenever I point out how broken it starts and keeps breaking more as it goes on.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

And whenever someone states that the Freeza saga is the best and then throws a tantrum whenever I point out the tropes, power levels, and especially the final fight being the longest.

That's my favorite arc but yeah, there's lots of serious ass-pulling going on with the power levels and a lot of bad cliches started there that still haunt the franchise to this day. I wouldn't say the fights long in the manga, mostly because the reader can control the pacing as he/she likes and Kai did it well enough but the original Z version definitely went way overboard.EXBadguy wrote:And whenever someone states that the Freeza saga is the best and then throws a tantrum whenever I point out the tropes, power levels, and especially the final fight being the longest.

Well at least you'd acknowledge the flaws of that sagas, as I acknowledge the flaws of the Cell saga while I still put it to a high standard. And as for the original Z overdoing the final fight,ekrolo2 wrote:That's my favorite arc but yeah, there's lots of serious ass-pulling going on with the power levels and a lot of bad cliches started there that still haunt the franchise to this day. Kind of lol, I haven't re-watched it in ages and with Kai out now I doubt I ever will. Although I have seen YT videos of it and just the entire Goku vs Freeza portion lasts a smidge over 4 hours in length, whereas Kai's is a whole two hours shorter.EXBadguy wrote:Well at least you'd acknowledge the flaws of that sagas, as I acknowledge the flaws of the Cell saga while I still put it to a high standard. That's not really controlling the pacing, that's reading it faster or slower.mostly because the reader can control the pacing as he/she likes
I don't mind the length of the Freeza fight. It's very entertaining. Kai makes it better simply because it stays on point, there aren't endless cutaways to Bulma and everyone on Earth. The only thing that is kept in that I wish could be taken out is the Captain Ginyu as a frog stuff.
I wouldn't say it brings out my irate fanboys, but I don't care for terms like "asspull". Can't we be more adult about this?

Did Kai keep that? I know there was some of that but I they didn't keep the shenanigans of Ginyu actually taking her body did they? But yeah, I'll agree that the Kai fight is better for cutting out the pointless stuff while keeping the good filler like Goku's visions in-tact.ABED wrote:That's not really controlling the pacing, that's reading it faster or slower.mostly because the reader can control the pacing as he/she likes

It kept most of it because Ginyu tries to take over Piccolo's body.ekrolo2 wrote:

Did Kai keep that? Re: What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy
Whenever someone uses the anime as a dead on, better than the manga argument when it comes to fighting strength. Just got involved in one where I said there's no way 19 and 20 are stronger than Freeza if a weakened Vegeta, after losing most of his power was still able to clobber 19 effortlessly. Now I'm being called a moron for pointing out how faulty it is to use the anime before the same guy starts throwing anime feats and what seems to be Z dub lines at me to prove his point.

Another thing that kind of annoys me is when various people come up with their own personal fanon ideas of how the characters' powers work and then claim that they are 'obvious' or 'common sense' and that everyone should agree with them.
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147
Re: What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy
I hate this. Especially when it comes to interpretations of scenes they treat as fact. Or when fanon is forced as the true answer to something that's unexplained, and they treat it as it's throws away all problems you may have, despite being fanon and not official.Polyphase Avatron wrote:Another thing that kind of annoys me is when various people come up with their own personal fanon ideas of how the characters' powers work and then claim that they are 'obvious' or 'common sense' and that everyone should agree with them.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Whenever a person uses scenes to prove a point when the same characters' statements have proven several times to be not reliable. It all depends.

Broly fans are notorious for touting their over-hyped legend as the best thing since the slice of bread; not sure what annoys me more, a dull flavorless character being acclaimed as something he's clearly not (strength-wise) or the incessant chatter pertaining to this topic flooding numerous threads time and time again.Polyphase Avatron wrote:Another thing that kind of annoys me is when various people come up with their own personal fanon ideas of how the characters' powers work and then claim that they are 'obvious' or 'common sense' and that everyone should agree with them.
Next in line, or just as equally as annoying would be GT fans nonchalantly claiming that slackers like Trunks and Goten have reached Buu-tier without any explanation or logic behind their incoherent assumptions. Pan, along with the vast majority of GT itself also gets lumped into that same category of characters that are commended for no apparent reason.

Just say that Goku lost to Mutaito in the anime when the same Goku killed Daimao.ekrolo2 wrote:Whenever someone uses the anime as a dead on, better than the manga argument when it comes to fighting strength. I doubt a lot of the YT fans know Mutaito lol. Even I had to double check to make sure if he was Roshi's master.Doctor. wrote:Just say that Goku lost to Mutaito in the anime when the same Goku killed Daimao.ekrolo2 wrote:Whenever someone uses the anime as a dead on, better than the manga argument when it comes to fighting strength. Re: What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy
I saw this in your DBZ Uncensored thread too. I'm not sure if you realize or not, but people of that time hate the phrase "another dimension" because it was used to whitewash death. To them (us) it was a cheap copout that insulted the intelligence of the audience and lessened the impact. You know, more so than it already was in a series where characters can readily come back to life.Ree wrote:people complaining about "another dimension"even though it actually exists

i do understand but Snake Way and King Kai's planet are not dub only creations
they did insult our intelligence but only in the sense that they stated the obvious in a more sugar coated manner
You can argue the original insulted it too
