What If... A Final Bout remake.

Post by Magica » Wed Jan 03, 2007 11:38 am

Say if those Budokai games never existed. Say that they remade Final Bout with newer, updated graphics, fighting system and character models instead. Would you buy/play it?

Now say if those Budokai games did exist and they remade Final Bout anyway with newer, updated graphics, fighting system and character models. Would you buy/play it?

Just curious on whether or not a crappy (though I loved it) game could be made better.

So you're basicly asking what if there was a GT Budokai?

It probaly do fine on the PSP or something, but there's not a whole lot to GT, and it doesn't have as many heroes or villians as Z does, thus it's probaly better for them to keep sticking GT with the Z games.

Note this would basicly be your cast list for a GT fighting game...
Goku (Adult/Kid)
Gohan
Goten
Pan
Vegeta
Trunks
Uub
Piccolo
Majin Buu
Kibito Kai
Krillin
Android 18
Videl
Mr.Satan
Goku.Jr
Vegeta.Jr

Ledgic
General Rildo
Baby
Freeza
Cell
Dr.Gero
Dr.Myuu
Super 17
Haze Shenron
Rage Shenron
Oceanus Shenron
Naturon Shenron
Eis Shenron
Nuova Shenron
Syn Shenron
Pretty small, which is why I said it do/be better for something like the PSP, as there's not a whole lot to just GT specificly.

Yes to both scenarios, so long as you include a better character roster in that list of improvements.

A GT-centered game would be awesome, because since it's a relatively short story, they could spend more time on character customization, what-ifs (adult Gotenks, SSj4 Vegeto, etc...), and the like.

As stupid as it may sound, I would want a 2-D Final Bout remake. I would want it like with the fighting engine of the Street Fighter games. Not the same as Super DragonBall Z that was "like" Street Fighter. I want it almost exactly like Street Fighter. That way you could have better fighting, smoother graphics, and a lot of useful characters. None of that "I want Dr. Wheelo" crap either..

No, I probably wouldn't buy it. I don't like GT, and I'd rather save my money for games that don't have a bad history.

But if you're buying the current DBZ games, then you're doing just that, because their development is handled incredibly poorly, and when you really get down to it the games are overall quite crappy, ie for a DBZ game they might be fine but when you compare them to everything out there they defenitly aren't fine.

keep it like the origional

Post by blactooth » Thu Jan 04, 2007 12:00 am

I would hope the remake still has he DBZ characters I know and love, because that is what I liked about the origional DBZ:FB.
I liked being the tough Future Trunks and kicking the crap out of the new Trunks who looks scared.

But I liked the game, it was Budokai with less Ultimate and more flying to dodge waves

Ew. I would hope no one would remake it. It was horrid.

Just because it's a DragonBall game doesn't mean it has to have an insanely large roster like Budokai 3 or the Tenkaichi Budokai games. That list of characters is just about the same amount a non-DragonBall fighting game has.

It would be nice not to bog down the roster with a huge list for once, in my opinion. As much as I do like having the large amount of characters in Tenkaichi 2, I'll be honest: I don't use every character much, if at all. With a smaller cast, each character gets more attention.

I remember playing the Suikoden RPGs, which have tons of playable characters. I never touched most of them though. I even neglected most of Chrono Cross's characters, and they only had 44 playable ones.

And, since GT is smaller, maybe they could make a decent story mode for once. Sure, they cover everything in Tenkaichi 2, but it's so horribly vague. Even if you're a fan of the series and are familiar with the story, you might get a little lost because they explain so little. GT's story is short, so maybe they wouldn't back out of trying to explain it in adequate detail.

I'd be interested in a GT game, even though I didn't really like GT. But I'd still prefer a DragonBall game over all else. I'd LOVE a 3D Advance Adventure.

Eh, I'd rather just have a Super DragonBall Z 2 game with bonus GT stuff perhaps (SSJ4, a Teen Gotenks, etc?). Refine the controls a bit, crank up the quality on the models, and flesh out the roster a *little* bit, and you're good to go.

The only thing good about 'Final Bout' was 'The Biggest Fight'. You know it, I know it, the 6 forms of Goku in the game know it. Let it rest, and let us move on to greener pastures.

Also, if I have to play another new game with the Saiyajin thru Cell arcs again this year, I'm gonna bust out my .45 and go Punisher on some developers asses. The only bad thing about Budokai 3 (aside from the computer spamming Dragon Rushes all the time) was the lack of the What-If stuff that made Budokai 1 and 2 great (I miss my Tencha and Gotan :().

Crap idea for PS3 and WII. Great idea for PSP. I think that it would be styled like shin budokai. Besides, I would play a really bad DBGT game, just for the chance to play as teen goten, especially if they add his long hair and SON shirt(as in my avatar).

Not as much a Final Bout remake, as a totally new GT fighting game.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

A Final Bout remake? Hellz no...

If they should remake any game, it should be DBZ Legends... or at least a fucking english port... but that's not likely... (damn the PS3 making PSone comepletly outdated ><)

But I say before they ever remake any DBZ game, they'll remake Final Fantasy 7

A remake to the dreaded 10-year-old game, Final Bout?

No offense, but I think not...

A broken, poorly controlled fighting game with better graphics? No thanks... Budokai is enough, Sparking! NEO is enough. And if you say that they add more characters and fix the gameplay mechanics.... then well... it's not really Final Bout anymore. :P

I'd prefer they make a quasi-sequel to the Sparking! games with just Dragon Ball GT characters (with the obvious additions, like Frieza, Cell, and Kid Buu), and a full, DBGT storyline. When are we going to see Rirudo, Ledgick, the Bon Para Brothers, and all those colorful DBGT villians! ...Not to mention GT Goku, Gohan, Goten, Trunks and Vegita....

Yeah I know that's why I said it should be the PSP, ie a small game for a small platform as most would bitch and complain about a DB game on a major console that doesn't have all of what they're used, ie it's idiotic to release something small like that on the PS2 when Sparking, Budokai, and Super, are right beside it, like which one do you think people will go for?

Gee it's like I actually thought this out a head of time or something. Go figure.
It would be nice not to bog down the roster with a huge list for once, in my opinion. As much as I do like having the large amount of characters in Tenkaichi 2, I'll be honest: I don't use every character much, if at all. With a smaller cast, each character gets more attention.
Yes, I know, but you're not going to get a developer to develop something like that for a major console which (again) is why it be better off for something like the PSP.

The DS needs a better DragonBall fighter, if you ask me. SsW2 was good, but it was also such a waste of the system's potential. It wouldn't be Shin Budokai level, but the DS can handle something decent in 3D. It has the power to. Just look at some videos of upcoming games like Dragon Warriors IX ( :D ) or Star Wars: Lethal Alliance.
