Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
It will be interesting to see if Super's version of F will be more similar to this than the movie.

What features does the blu-ray include?kei17 wrote:My copy has arrived.
Interestingly enough, Shisami does not exist at all in the storyboards. It's Tagoma who fights Piccolo.Spoiler:
Freeza blows out a nameless soldier instead of Tagoma, but the text says it's Tagoma. It seems that Yamamuro replaced him with Tagoma after drawing the shots and changed only the texts later. Also, it's explicitly stated that he is rescued afterwards though he ended up dying in the actual movie.Spoiler:

So Tagoma was originally meant to live and fight Piccolo? Interesting. I certainly would have preferred that, and I hope that Super goes with this scenario as supposed to what happened in the final cut of ROF.kei17 wrote:My copy has arrived.

It would still present the issue of Piccolo struggling against someone who's at Zarbon's level.Lord Beerus wrote:So Tagoma was originally meant to live and fight Piccolo? Interesting. That could retcon that line. I mean, Toei have already fucked up the SSJG Goku (6) - Beerus (10) - Whis (15) hierarchy that Toriyama himself provided by having Beerus state that he was using 100% of his power when fighting SSJG Goku in EP 12. Unless it's stated Beerus was lying, that changes the power scale quite dramatically.ekrolo2 wrote:It would still present the issue of Piccolo struggling against someone who's at Zarbon's level.Lord Beerus wrote:So Tagoma was originally meant to live and fight Piccolo? I think it was stated in the summary of episode 14 that Beerus is still hiding some power, so yes he's lying.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
This is true, however, this leads to a second problem where, if Sorbet has a Cell Jr (at least) level fighter, why does he need a chump like Freeza? Its the same issue you have with trying to rationalize Sorbet as being on Piccolo's level, it makes Freeza returning pointless.Lord Beerus wrote:That could retcon that line. I've just noticed that some pages have Sorbet's original design that ended up not being used in the movie, and チドル (Chidoru) was his original name. A few pages have this beta design with the name Sorbet, so it seems that they renamed him first and Toriyama provided the final design afterwards. In addition, it turned out that this Nappa-esque guy was originally supposed to be Tagoma. What's peculiar is that their designs change page to page. There's some pages with their final designs inserted between the ones with their beta designs. Obviously, Yamamuro didn't draw the storyboards in chronological order.
So, putting it all together:

So, putting it all together:
- Sorbet was originally named Chidoru, and they changed it to Sorbet for some reason.
- Tagoma and Sorbet were re-designed by Toriyama during Yamamuro was drawing the storyboards.
- Tagoma was first supposed to be rescued after being blown out to space by Freeza, but ended up dying in the movie.
- Shisami was newly added after finishing the storyboards and he took over Tagoma's role in the battle.

Again, it's never clearly stated that he is as strong as Zarbon and Dodoria.ekrolo2 wrote:It would still present the issue of Piccolo struggling against someone who's at Zarbon's level.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Interesting news. I wonder if Yamamuro added Shisami just so that Piccolo could have someone to fight? We do know that he added some dialogue to the storyboard, so it wouldn't be too impossible for him to added entire cuts.

Oh, so it seems Freeza WASN'T regenerated with his armor in the original storyboard. I always thought that was weird. Wonder what was the deciding factor to include it in the movie.kei17 wrote:Spoiler:

Maybe the key animator drew it in a rush and Yamamuro didn't have time to fix it for later. That or he was trying to cut down on the number of cuts and drawings used, so he decided to hit two birds with one stone.Drabaz wrote:Oh, so it seems Freeza WASN'T regenerated with his armor in the original storyboard. I don't understand why Beerus would lie about something like that. Unless he respected Goku enough not to bruise his ego or pride.Doctor. wrote:I think it was stated in the summary of episode 14 that Beerus is still hiding some power, so yes he's lying.

Re: storyboard beta designs
That's interesting just how rushed this means it was, for earlier designs to make it all the way to the storyboard.
Was there anything else weirdly out of place in the storyboard?

Crud, FedEx doesn't have an estimated delivery time for me any more. I was supposed to get it by 10:30 today, but it's still in Japan.

Thanks for this. It's actually super interesting. I really wish we had gotten this, or something equivalent, for Battle of Gods. As much as I love the current Beerus and SSG, I'd still have loved to see the beta designs and everything.kei17 wrote:I've just noticed that some pages have Sorbet's original design that ended up not being used in the movie, and チドル (Chidoru) was his original name. This is a storyboard detail that makes me happy. The armor never made any sense to me, as it's not part of his body.Drabaz wrote:Oh, so it seems Freeza WASN'T regenerated with his armor in the original storyboard. I always thought that was weird. The only way it could have been better was if he regenerated in his fourth/true form (because that's what his cyborg form is), but then regressed to avoid destroying the ship or something.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
I was wondering, Freeza didn't got a Zenkai boost after his resurrection, right? His power level was kept as 530k? I remember that he stated as a cyborg going to Earth for the 1st time, that he was stronger than before, don't know if that could influence into something...

Zenkais are only for Saiyans, so no. He was stronger on Earth because of the cybernetic enhancements.Noah wrote:I was wondering, Freeza didn't got a Zenkai boost after his resurrection, right? I got the impression he was just a bit rusty due to not having done any physical activity for so many years, rather than actually losing power (since the power he had before wasn't acquired through training). Though that's based on the English dub so maybe they changed the line.Doctor. wrote:

I don't think I've seen you go into your reasons for hating the film, do you mind elaborating?Gaffer Tape wrote:I agree. It's a terrible, poorly-informed review consisting of nothing but criticisms that are not about the film at all or even the franchise it is from. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, but this is just such a non-sequitur it's almost hilarious. "What did I think about the new Dragon Ball Z movie?
