Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
Since Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' are a good successful films, why not throw in the final God-based film to complete the God Trilogy? Maybe Freeza or Cell returns as in the Bio-Broli type clone? The trilogy isn't complete without one. Maybe it should be set between the five year gap of Z and GT

If Toriyama worked on it, then I would be all for it. I love the two movies we have now, and it would be good if we got another one. However, I would want it to not be canon, as I don't want to know the entire plot of another super arc.

Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
I'd prefer a retro DBZ movie, side-story written by Takao Koyama over another one by Toriyama, tbh. Fusion Reborn and Wrath of the Dragon are still my faves... by far. Or give Toyotaro a chance to write his first movie using all the elements introduced so far (god ki, universes, gods of destruction, etc).
Personally, what I'd like to see from a DBZ movie is a final chapter. Basically, set at the end of the series, but it can be an alternative universe (think The Dark Knight Returns).
I wrote this before:
"Alternatively, I would have loved a third movie in which a tournament of this magnitude takes place (no groups here), and Goku ends up being matched with Vegeta. From a business and fan perspective, how awesome and lucrative would it be to center a movie around a rematch between Goku and Vegeta (one that is NOT interrupted)? The marketing would use trailers similar to those advertising boxing super matches. The movie itself could be structured in a way where it emphasizes on Goku and Vegeta's training, downtime with their families, and feelings towards each other (as well as flashbacks to their previous battles) before the match, as well as Vegeta's overall growth since he met 'Kakarot.' Not to mention, a few other brief tournament matches along the way (Krillin vs Tenshinhan?!). Build up, build up, build up until... bam! The greatest fight ever."
But it can also be set in the far future where Goku is dead again (Why? Who cares...), visits, and Vegeta is, unknowingly or not, at his end (dying of natural causes). They may actually bail from the tournament and fight. I only vaguely remember, but this is similar to what DBO has written in its timeline, if I recall correctly.
Of course, this sort of story idea just simply can't work for Super or modern DBZ. Not to say I would want this to be overly serious and bleak, but, I mean, you have subjects like Beerus being the initiator of Planet Vegeta's destruction treated as a gag instead of a source of genuine tension between the two characters. Everything nowadays is just so... toned down and, for a lack of a better word, kiddy.

Bring Shampa and the 6th Universe as the third and last movie (that maybe will consist of two parts...SilverPlaqueVII wrote:

I'd like one, but now that we have Super I don't think we're gonna get one because of how thinly spread Toei is right now. I mean that could always change, but who knows.
On hiatus.

I think that having a Champa/6th universe movie to close the series with 20 movies would be better than starting Super, but what's done is done.

I'd like another movie, but I don't want future films to share content with Super via more retellings.
They can include the content in Super's continuity and work the series around it (like we assumed Super would in the first place for BOG and "F") or they can return to the same alternate continuity method as movies 1-13 (maybe continue BOG and "F" in a different direction). I would prefer the former, but I don't care too much. The material should remain exclusive to the film though,...and preferably still have Toriyama's involvement, if at all possible.

Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
If Super is still running then I'm not sure how they would go about it. It's important that Toriyama writes it and its canon to the series though as that's why the last two were so successful.
Maybe it could be a story that takes place during the timeskip between two arcs in Super.
RoF was for the most part a standalone story unlike BoG so to have something like that where it's an interesting story but one that isn't going to have much impact on the future of the series would work.
Why not have the next movie involve them going to Universe 3 for example?

Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
It think they'll turn the u6 arc into a movie and release it under the Z brand cause it's the most popular out of the 5 series and they can market it using Toriyama's name.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
God I hope not. For the simple reason if we get another movie we know that'll just be adapted into Dragonball Super for another 14 episodes.

I think based on both the domestic and international success of RoF, there will be another film, it's just matter of when. RoF was rushed out of the door, but Toei's plate keeps growing bigger with things like Super, and with a One Piece film currently in development (which is a much bigger property domestically for them) it remains to be seen if the next Dragonball film will be fast-tracked again like RoF was.

Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
With how successful Resurrection F was internationally I am pretty confident there will be another movie, but it will probably be entirely new content that won't appear in Super as I can't see how rewriting another story would be good from a business perspective. Hopefully it will be a story that can fit into Super's timeline somewhere but that fans won't be entirely lost if they don't see.

Before they do another movie they should wait until Super has ended. I'd like to see how Super ends before I make my mind up on any more movies, mainly because I wouldn't know where else they could go with another movie until I see how the Uni 6 arc ends.

I would really love another film next year. But it will probably be a Super film, and I expect, like the originals, a non-storyline related one. But a Toriyama one that is canon but wouldn't get retold in Super would be cool too.

Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
Possibly but I might be a super film. I want one by the guy who made the first 13 films. They were much better to me. Take that story of the legendary super saiyan from the GT perfect files and make the first GT movie. OR let toyable make a AF move, after all he works for dragonball and there's no reason they can't.
Any post before 8/7/2016 isn't mine. This account was a gift from someone who thought the account was already banned. Saved me the trouble of making a new one haha XD

Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
I'd like it if Toriyama focuses on Super, and we get a "non-canon" movie from someone of Toei's staff. Takao Koyama has retired right? So maybe, like fadeddreams5 suggested, Toyotarou can do something alone. There's no need for a movie that continues the storyline now that Super exists, so a side-story would be the best option.
I'd like to see the original BoG, to be honest.

Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
As much as I would love a trilogy, at the same time I feel conflicted. I liked Battle of Gods but it was too humourous for my liking and less serious. I heard Revival of F was amazing, but seeing as it and Battle of Gods are being retconned already into DB Super, I see no point in actually seeing the movie. To be honest, I like how DB Super is telling the story as opposed to the movies. I feel that even the extended version of Battle of Gods was very rushed, and I would probably say the same for Revival of F even though I've not seen it. I prefer the traditional method of story-telling in Dragon Ball- dragging it out over a new manga or anime series. I prefer longer stories rather than getting everything all at once. It keeps me interested and on the edge of my seat. Sure I know how BoG ended, I saw the movie. But I honestly prefer how it's being told in Super. Vegeta felt very much out of character in the film, acting all goofy to distract Beerus from getting pissed off. There's none of that in Super at all, and that's just how it should be. There was too much focus on the comedic aspect of BoG and it kinda ruined the action-based parts of it for me.

Re: Dragon Ball movie XX in 2017?
Honestly, I think the immense success that Dragon Ball has been in the last 2-3 years has made a movie in 2017 movie very unlikely. I mean, the resurgence in demand for more Dragon Ball put Toei so off-guard that they haphazardly decided to create a new Dragon Ball anime for the first time in nearly 20 years. If a Dragon Ball movie in 2017 is gonna happen, it's only happen if Super by about this time next year bombs in terms of merchandise sale revenue, because Toei will most likely want to try to regunivate interest in Dragon Ball and what better way to doi than it a movie? I mean, it worked the first time round.. And besides, even if the movie was going to made, it would still be rushed because Toei are poor at planning. I mean, the entire storyboard for Resurrection F was done in just one month, for crying out loud. And the production of Super... yikes. What a rollercoaster that has been so far.
