I mean, which kind of law could be troublesome because of going to ISO?
Would this also go for let's say high quality AVI on CD or just for "real" DVDs?
Just being curious about it ^^
We're distributing THEIR FOOTAGE in a format would could thusly be burnt to DVD.
I'm reasonably sure you can piece together WHY FUNimation would be upset about that.

to be honest the quality of the MP4's off of youtube don't look that bad on a HDTV through a WII or a PS3 (componant or HDMI) so the cancelation isn't that bad really
I'm sure many of you could find other means of watching these episodes other than on a computer screen
if i can be bothered sometime i could just upload a MP4 and subtitle set if anyones actually interested

Yeah, true indeed.
But then again, like other people said, it's not that the youtube MP4s would have bad quality (so burning these to DVD or putting them together as AVI doesn't really seem any different to me).
Like I said, it's not that I'm bitching about it, I really respect your decision.
But perhaps I don't really get the logical thoughts behind that whole thing because I am not a lawyer xD
(The same thing goes for poor episode 1 that had to be taken down)

I'm no lawyer but if someone in the UK were to upload the files to a UK server, FUNi can't touch them can they? Because it will be nearly impossible to check the origin of the footage, which means it could be from the Ocean Dub, which is not licensed over here any more. So you aren't really affecting the copyright are you? And users in America will be downloading it through third parties, which should bypass the copyright.
I'm unsure whether any of the above makes sense and/or is factually correct.
DragonFlick Z 2.0 in the works.. if you are a Dragonball Youtuber, feel free to get in touch.

Except that it is pretty obvious that the footage is from the season sets... Even if FUNi has no standing licenses in the UK, the footage is still owned by FUNi, so it's up to them how the footage is distributed worldwide. I'm no expert either, but from what I know, there are some holes in this plan, both legally and morally.

Beat me to the punch. I fully agree, and since you're not gaining a profit... What's the problem?

The problem isn't that you're not making profit, its that FUNimation isn't from this. People can watch the footage for free on DVD without having to pay FUNi to buy them.
Sure, technically its not true, but that's FUNi's point of view.

But it doesn't matter what FUNi thinks, they have to obey the law, and if the law allows it they can't allow it...but the system is crooked so

FUNimation has the right to have TFS's videos removed from YouTube, by law. And since the great guys at TFS made this series for that purpose (being viewed, mainly one YouTube, and not for fan-made DVD releases), they're not going to jeopardize that for a minority of their fans. FUNi has agreed to let them post their videos on YouTube, but they wouldn't be OK with distributing DVD-ready versions, and would use that as reasoning to have the videos removed on YouTube. It's a trust agreement.
