Also "Pistola Gálica".
I don't really watch any Portuguese dubbed or subbed anime let alone anything else 'cos it's crap, but I've made an exception for this for the sake of hearing how Kikuchi's music in the early episodes of Kai was placed.

If Dialectus would've subtitled Dragon Ball Z Kai I wonder if they'd done a more professional job than PSB Studios, whom instead of translating the uncut subtitles translated the dubtitles to Portuguese with grammar mistakes.
Oh they wouldn't do a better job beleive me, if you have watched Naruto here in Portugal subbed or Bleach dubbed you would know how terrible the transalitions are specially when they translate attack names which IMO I don't think it should ever be done.
Though I don't care for Naruto, I did watch the first half of a single episode of it when it aired after Kai, and the translation in the subtitles seemed like an actual translation, as opposed to what we see in Kai. So yes, it would've been an improvement.

Who the hell hires those unskilled translators for shows/films that are going to be broadcast on TV and released on BD/DVD?

If they don't seriously care about quality then we should just get all anime subbed and dubbed from Spain, which, there they do a marvellous job and I love their dubs so much.
In all fairness, and although I'm not familiar with those dubs, if the translators were given the dub script to work with then they should be judged based on that script and not the original one.

About attack names being translated or not, I also prefer them being untranslated. Having said that, maybe Naruto's attacks are more meaning-based than Dragon Ball ones and that's why they translate them? I wonder if using a literal translation at the top of the screen like fansubs do would be a good idea...

What grammar mistakes were you referring to, dbboxkaifan?

Actually, the Portugues subtitles for Naruto aren't based on the Japanese script. More likely from the American dub as well.

Regardless of what they were given, the "subtitles" are atrocious, the dubtitles that appear sometimes run too quick, add dubtitles where the Japanese audio didn't had any dialogue and the grammar mistakes.

Let me check my ImageShack pics.. Oh, here ya go:

Just one example.

PSB Studios, when referring in plural to more than one Saiyan, for Lord's sake write Saiyans, one less mistake they could've fixed all along.

Certainly these Dragon Ball Z Kai Portuguese version subtitles are the worst English to Portuguese subtitles I've seen so far from Portuguese TV, and I don't even watch it that much, or any. Rarely nowadays.

Here's one from today's episode "Krillian".

Also on the previous episode they translated Solar Flare into "Sinal Solar".

Just caught the re-run of the episode where Tenshinhan dies. I finally know what it feels like when dub fans turn the subtitles on. Dialog doesn't match, timing doesn't match. Argh...damn it.

Also, "Os Três Raios"? Wouldn't that be something like "Raio Triplo"? Oh, well.

I'm not really sure but I strongly think they messed up the Kaiou-ken as well.

"Kaiou-ken x3" becomes "Kaio-ken ao cubo" *facepalm*

Not sure if ashamed they wrote "ao cubo" or proud they wrote "Kaio-ken"....actually, neither. Laughing from how ridiculous that sounds together

I've honestly stopped watching this "sudubbed" as it barely ever makes any sense or are timed within the Japanese voices.

Regardless of how turdy a PT dub of this would be it'd still be better than this sudubbed version.

Subbed & Dubbed (subs based on a dub) - Sudub/Sudubbed.

I think you're referring to "dubtitles," but I don't speak Portuguese so I don't know if it's just the dub script.

Yeah, they're literally dubtitles. It's taken from the uncut english dub of Kai.

Subdubbed or Dubtitles who gives a crap the "subtitles" in this piece of turd uses the script from the English dub, it doesn't even make any goddamn sense to be using the English dub dialogue with the original Jap audio, seriously who came up with this bull!

PSB Studious is a piece of shit they don't even return feedback or do a decent subtitling job. < Why I don't watch dubbed or subbed Portuguese stuff, except for this one time.

The widescreen version that SR broadcasts is just a cropped 4x3 to 16x9. Why would anyone ever think Toei Animation would handle their original Japanese Kai broadcast to a country that makes mediocre anime dub/subs.

It was quite obvious the promotional video was using the replacement soundtrack & 4x3 AR.

It is the same broadcast version as Japan. Japanese broadcast was cropped too.

They use FUNimation's Z Kai sets, the eyecatches don't just say "Dragon Ball Kai" but "Dragon Ball Z Kai".

SR shouldn't be promoting the show as "Dragon Ball Kai" but "Dragon Ball Z Kai" it's just misleading advertisement.

That's to do with the TV channel's bitrate, nothing to do with the source.

As I've said many times, the "Z Kai" logo has nothing to do with FUNimation. It's Toei who replaced Kai with Z Kai.
