Was Stephanie Nadolny Really That Bad As Gohan?

Listen to Colleen's performance that she did for "Teen Gohan" her vocal not only is it high-pitched but annoying and unsuitable for Gohan.

I have listened to it, and never had a problem with it. Nadolny is way more annoying to me. Colleen's voice isn't. Nadolny's Gohan and Goku laughs just bug me. It's like a cross between Woody Woodpecker and Krusty the Clown.

Even if I agreed that Colleen always sounded angry, I'll take that over Nadolny who is a terrible actress. She might have Gohan sound happier, but it sounds like someone trying to make their character sound happy.

I'm dead.

Hilarity aside, I agree with the above sentiments. Glad that Nadolny was replaced. She just wasn't fitting to play the part at all.

I actually agree with this. It's difficult to get a good voice for young boys. Either you get a young boy, but you run the risk of the voice changing which happens frequently, or you get a woman whose voices are higher, but still don't doesn't necessarily sound like little boys.

I thought she was fine for the Freeza to Cell sagas. As others have noted, it's in the redubs that Nadolny especially stood out. Her cries and laughs are a bit annoying, and the Saiyan saga had plenty of each. She just wasn't right for Gohan at that age. I like her best for his pre-teen years, and I do miss her in the role, but there have been better Gohans before and since. Saffron Henderson has always been my personal favorite in that department.

Nadonly always made Goku and Gohan sound like they smoked constantly. At least Clinkenbeard makes them sound natural. Even Saffron Henderson sounded better than Nadonly. Nadonly was just not a good fit for the roles.

I liked Nadolny. I didn't really like her as Gohan early on in the Namek/Freeza arc, but at this stage in my life, I know why: I didn't like the majority of the characters' portrayal. I think that she did a good job during the Cell arc, especially the Cell Games. I liked what she did with Goku. He did sound innocent and goofy, which is what they were going for.

Gohan's voice was a bit more raspy, but I never found anything wrong with it.

I'm in the minority here, but I think that Colleen Clickenbeard's Gohan sounds pretty nauseating. It reminds me of Axel's voice from Mega Man X-7, actually. I don't see Gohan any more innocent or "cute" as a 4 year old with Clickenbeard's performance, and I don't find him any more badass when he turns Super Saiyan 2. For me, it was a pretty useless replacement because they had the chance to cast someone that could bring out the cuteness of little kid Gohan and that's just not what happened. I still claim that Saffron Henderson's performance as Gohan (and Goku, I guess, though in 14 episodes and a movie, it's hard to see if it really was good) was the best version, outside of the Japanese one of course.

For Goku I think Stephanie is fine in the role. Gohan on the other hand she doesn't fit until after he has gotten out of the Room of Spirit and Time just before his fight with Cell. I can't take 4 year old Gohan seriously with Stephanie's voice. I think Colleen did better there.

She's great as Gohan during the Cell saga. Sounded a bit too old during early DBZ. But overall, she'll always be my Gohan.

I thought she was good, not as good as her Goku, but still great. At the very least, she's a lot better than Colleen Clinkenbeard and Jillian Michaels.
