I think a main female villain could be awesome if it was done right. I always imagine a witch for a main powerful female villain for a DB movie.

My own silliness aside; I actually would like to see some villains with magical powers. Magic is one of the few things that can compete with the main cast post-Buu without seeming too outrageous.
And I do like that we have a female villain in Towa from DBO (though I've read somewhere makaioshin are genderless?) it'd be nice to have more female bad guys.


I also want to second the One Piece style of "everyone gets their own fight where they get to beat one of the bad guys". That's one of the many things I like about One Piece. Also I think that could count as "modern flavor".

True, assuming "she" really is a Makaioshin (since we don't have solid confirmation). The whole Shinian race is genderless though, including the ones appointed to Kaio(shin) and their Makaio(shin) equivalents.

I do wish there was more clarification about Towa; I feel like it's been ages and ages since we've had any plot-updates from DBO. I'd like to know more about her and Miira (along with any other possible lead bad guys). I agree it's possible she may not be a she at all, or that she may not be a makaioshin at all either. Information about Towa's character is kinda vague.

But, TMQ8 should be coming soon, maybe next month. The developer updated their Facebook page earlier this year with a computer screen featuring SS Goku's incomplete model, and then just the other day posted a new image of the logo with SS Goku character art that is used during cutscenes for TMQs. We just got Papaya Island added to the game, and a new dungeon on the island is going to be added in the next couple weeks (unsure when exactly they said). TMQ8 will probably be the focus after that, because it has been a while since we had any new story added.

Really? Good to know there's some new plot coming some time soon for DBO; I haven't forgotten about it, even if I don't play the game. That is refreshing to hear; Towa and Miira are the most interesting DBO villains to me atm.

On-topic: has anyone here seen any of the previous work of the director or writer of the upcoming film? If so, does it give you a bit of an idea about what there may be to expect? I know the director has done a few episodes of Z among other stuff I've watched (there's some Sailor Moon episodes listed under him), and I'll probably go back at some point later this week to watch a bit of his work with this knowledge in mind.

Not too fond of the "magical being" aspects of the series. It created more plotholes than DB usually had. Don't really care for any Lords of Worlds, Lords of Demon Worlds, Lords of Lords of Worlds, or Shin Lords of Kings of the Oh, or whatever you wanna call 'em. Don't want any Androids either. Or any time-travelling nonsense. Or aliens, like Freeza. Or remnant Saiyans like Turles and Broly.

I don't consider that talking brain to be an android. He was a mech. To me, at least. The thing about Dragon Ball movies is that ... other than ripping of the manga story elements, they don't feature much. World's Strongest was one of the more original films, though.

Not Uiro. Correct me if I'm wrong, but while not related to Gero's line of course, I do believe Kochin, Kishime, Misokattsun, and Ebifurya were classified as Jinzoningen. The rest I mostly agree with, as a good number of the films are based on certain arcs and their villians, just sort of reimagined. More often than not, they don't even try to hide it.

Someone with Ice mans powers, gabriel from supernatural, borg robots, shinigami, someone with Aizen level hax with his shikia capable of forming illusions, Dr. Manhattan like being, more powerful version of Guldo, power rangers, someone with flash powers and abilities, Sorcerer supreme Dr. Strang like foe.

At the level they are, the only thing that can be of some kind of challenge for them are magic powers and illusions. Something you can't kill physically. I wouldn't mind a female sorceress playing with their minds, with the usual group of minions to beat up before she unleashes her true powers.

Dragon Ball, to me, was never about limiting one's imagination. One of the biggest draws for me is how Toriyama always managed to surprise me with the next instalment of villains. I think we've been a little disapointed with how unimaginative GT was (literally recycled the Tuffles, and Android 17), but I do have faith that they'll do a good job this time around. The idea for the Evil Dragons was great though; maybe we could get a good version of that finally.

By the way, does anyone else think that FUNImation will release the dub of this film , along with "Yo Son Goku and his friends return" as a double feature DVD/Blu Ray? It seems to me that this is what they're going to bank on in the near future.

If Funimation does renew their rights to DB next year then it's possible but I won't count a dub of the 2008 Jump Special since they seem like that they can't grab the rights to it.
