Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
I must have watched BoG with some really bad subs then. In those, Kaio said that there is a God of Creation, higher than Kaioshin, and opposite to him is the God of Destruction.

He said something like this:"In this world there are Gods who create new planets and new life-forms, like Kaioshin-sama. And in opposition there are Gods who kill and destroy, just like the Hakaishin."Fizzer wrote:I must have watched BoG with some really bad subs then. Also, you should watch the Extended version, where Kaioshin specifically discusses the creation of planets.Fizzer wrote:I must have watched BoG with some really bad subs then. In those, Kaio said that there is a God of Creation, higher than Kaioshin, and opposite to him is the God of Destruction.

Anubis is a dog though, coincidencial appear.Luke Groundwalker wrote:You know since Beerus is clearly based off Anubis, maybe the other gods of destruction will be based off Egyptian gods as well? It would fit the theme imo. Though if they're tasked to do the job of destroying planets perhaps they also have someone above them.
Zephyr wrote:The fandom's collective fetishizing of "moments" is also ridiculous to me. No, not everyone needs a fucking "shine" moment. If that's all you want, then all you want is fanservice, rather than an actual coherent story. And of course those aren't mutually exclusive; you could have a coherent story with "shine" moments! But if a story is perfectly coherent (and I'm really not seeing any compelling arguments that this one is anything but, despite constantly recurring, really poorly reasoned, attempts to argue otherwise), and you're bemoaning the lack of "shine" moments as a reason for the story's poor quality, then you're letting your thirst for "shine" moments obfuscate your ability to detect basic storytelling when it's right in front of you.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
I finally got to see the Dr. Slump '99 movie; the animation is so beautifully fluid and consistent, not to mention loads of scenery variety (if I have one gripe it'd be the GT-esque late 90's color palette) even the cgi is brief and used accordingly (for airships, for magic-effects) as opposed to replacing the hand-drawn characters for certain scenes.
What's this got to do with DB15? Answer: I'm wondering how many animators (high quality) Dr. Slump '99 had on its team compared to BOG, and what the likely team for DB15 may be in terms of size and quality. The ANN page for Slump '99 tells me nothing: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=3638 and I'm left wondering if they just used to have a bigger budget back then or if this is something more closely related to the director, animation director, general staff.

Your really worried about the Animation Supervisor aren't you Chuquita?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
I am, but I don't think it's funny. I think it's a legit concern; I know Toei can do better. I've seen them do really nice stuff (recent OP movies, portions of recent Precure movies) and really poor quality stuff (Kai opening and ending sequences) recently, and I'd rather they do the best they can instead of phone stuff in. A good script still needs good animation to be able to take full advantage of the story being presented. Even though I really enjoyed BOG, I wished they'd had more time to work on the animation. Knowing DB15 gets an extra two months is a good thing, but the quality of the animators involved is also important.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
When did we get the first real trailer, not teaser, for Battle of Gods?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Didn't we get the official poster before the actual movie trailer?
Personally I'm more worried about, and hoping this movie is more epic in story, and power. Yeah we know Goku and Bills are incredibly powerful, but if they don't actually demonstrate anything we haven't seen before, as far as in battle... what's the point. And I realize the Tsunami at least from what I've heard, was a big reason to ignore mass destruction, but still, I just hope they do something interesting this time, where the characters don't look so... um underpowered.
But then again, why worry about something you cannot control.

Ehm, you can find it on illegal means with subtitles.... before it is released by Funimation, if they will release the extended version of course.CordonBloo wrote:I was not aware the extended version was available to watch online?MCDaveG wrote:Also, you should watch the Extended version, where Kaioshin specifically discusses the creation of planets.Fizzer wrote:I must have watched BoG with some really bad subs then. Does anyone know who was in charge of the Redone RB2 OVA Plan to Eradicate the SSJs? I remember the animation was pretty fluid.

Looks like there's a lot of names listed for key animation and 2nd key animation as well.Art Director - Shōji Tokiwa
Director - Yoshihiro Ueda
Character Design / Animation Supervisor - Tadayoshi Yamamuro

The beams were pretty great on that special. Hopefully we get something similar.

I hated the beams in the RB2 special. So wobbly and unfirm. Really ugly, especially Son Goku's Kamehameha.

Ah, the Alpha and the Omega. As all life was created from Chaos...so shall it be DESTROYED!!!

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
The beams with a little bit more detail could look absolutely stunning, imo.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread
Yamamuro's lack of social media is a real pain at a time like this. It'd be nice to know if he planned on handing the animation supervisor role over or not.
Ueda Yoshihiro was an episode director for Dragon Ball. He directed many, many episodes of the first three television series.
The animation was pretty bad. Even Shida Naotoshi. Ootsuka Ken, and Sugie Toshiharu did not have enough drawings and free reign to do their usual quality work. Shida did everyone's final attack on Hacchi-hyack.
Ignore art director. That role is for designing the backgrounds and has nothing to do with the animation.Chuquita wrote:According to http://www.kanzenshuu.com/movie/db-ptetss/Doctor. wrote:Does anyone know who was in charge of the Redone RB2 OVA Plan to Eradicate the SSJs? The final attack was what I was talking about when I said the animation was good.
