Yeah, they were. R1, R2, and R4.
I assume the DragonBox removed the R2 because then people would be importing it to Japan. This in only case where I can actually see reverse importation being a significant consideration. I mean if you're in Japan would you rather pay a lot of money for a few DragonBox singles or get over 40 episodes of a comparable release for the same price by importing Funimation's DBox.

Couldn't they just say "Not for importing to Japan" or something?
Shameless request: If anybody wants to get rid of his Orange Brick #1 for nothing, please PM me

.
I just want the first one for the review I'll do in the Arabic forums when I'll get my copy.
EDIT: To make it worthy, I'll give my two V-Jump issues that included the Jump Special Adaptation.

It says on the box and even right on the discs themselves. Orange sets are R1, R2, R4; Dragon Box is R1, R4.

The Japanese should be smart enough to fix the region coding on their players like we do all the time. I'm sure people in Japan would jump at spending $50-$80 to import the US Dbox instead of spending $40-$80 for 2 singles.

On sites like Amazon it does say "Region 1" but the orange bricks are Regions 1, 2, and 4. When I first started buying them I thought they were region 1 but I took the risk of importing them and they worked fine for me.
Edit: Sorry it says on the back of the DVD's "Regions 1, 2, and 4".

Have you considered using a spell checker before posting? Do you realize that all that red text is manual and not automatic? Somebody is going in to every single one of your posts, fixing it, and highlighting the corrections themselves.
Try typing your post into Microsoft word, fixing the basic errors, then copying it to your post. You could also try an online spell checker (search for one on Google). I'm sure that if you don't start
trying to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation, then you will be banned. You agreed to that when you signed up.
Also, it's just super annoying to see you continue to utterly fail at it after being warned and told countless times in this thread. There are ways to fix these problems even if you don't have the knowledge to fix them yourself.

I got my set and
man, the quality is just fantastic! As others have said, pictures don't do it justice.
But really, its great to finally get the series and not think, "Man, what did Funimation screw up now?" when I'm watching it.
EDIT: Just wanted to add that after watching two episodes and looking through the Dragon Book, I just can't stop smiling.

This is actually expected if comparing a Japanese DVD to an American one. NTSC-J has an approximately 10% brightness difference from NTSC (due to slight differences in signaling levels between Japanese TV's and US TV's)
Bottom line is Funi version is correct for US, and JP version is correct for JP. If you import either way, you can turn up or down the brightness on your TV for an *authentic* experience.

Well, I give up. None of the Best Buys in my area had it early.

Y'know it would be funny if FUNimation intentionally changed the date to 7 days later, when it was too late, and shipped the boxes early. Just to create some buzz over those who got theirs in early. Creating lots of envy and fueling the fans' burning desire.
Hilarious.
PS. My Best Buy had it in early. I got to hold the package. I compared it to some of the others in the section that I own. It was really hard to put it back.

Gah... Tanooki's pictures got me all excited. Mine has been sitting at my parent's house since Tuesday, and I finally get to crack it open tomorrow. I can't wait!
Its totally the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel-o-crap this week has been.

I'm unsure why people are bitching about region coding.
If my DVD player couldn't play this
$50 Dragon Box release, I'd buy a region free DVD players as soon as humanly possible.
I mean, if you were ever going to buy one, now is the time. This is the fucking Dragon Box we're talking about here!

How do you guys have so many Best Buys near you? I'm in the center of New Jersey and there's only one near me and I would have to pass at least ten Walmarts and McDonalds on the way.
Gohan: At least he doesn't have his sword out anymore.
Kuririn: Yeah, and your dad put his finger away too.

I have three within an hour's drive from my house, and I live in the middle of Nowhere, Kentucky.

So yea, even if you do notice a slight difference between the two it's much better then comparison shots from other sets.

Thank you so very much my good sir.

Are those comparison shots of the DBox quality vs. the orange bricks'?
