Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
And he almost lost the battle against Kid Buu thanks to using it.
SSJ2 or SSJ1=died immediately.
SSJ3=fighted on par.
USSJ: Wasted energy,decrease speed,increase strength
SSJ3:Wasted energy,increase speed+strength.
WHich one is better?

Did ya miss the little behind the scenes video? Def worth talking bout.
Nope! Watched it earlier on. Kinda felt like it was pretty covered from the screenshots that we got yesterday, though. Good to see them in motion, at least.
I always find the contrast between the huge, polished final product and the cluttered, small production office absolutely crazy.
It's a far cry from the very spacious, homely looking Studio Ghibli offices, that's for sure!

Is having other users describe and discuss these vague posts really contributing though? A little context goes a long way. On top of that, one line, one word, or single image posts are highly frowned upon. You're here to discuss! Tell us what you think about whatever it is you're posting.

I don't think you want Korean-to-English Google translations being used as "discussion". Mike already gets "upset" with us for trying to use it to decipher some of the Japanese content for the film before you guys get around to your own translations, and Google's Japanese-to-English translation skills are better than the former.
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.
My personal "canon" and BP list. (Coming Soon)

Sure it kept him alive but it still nearly cost him the battle which wouldn't have happened if he trained his Ssj2 in the way he did Ssj1 in the Cell arc cause even though he probably would have still lost he at least wouldn't lose all his power and would be able to do something later if they came up with a plan.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Oh wow, I had no idea Freeza's new "evolution" will be revealed soon (I really should book mark the main page lol) I dunno, feeling quite apprehensive and excited at the same time, hopefully it is like SSG and they don't change too much of Freeza's design, I am quite fond of his final form.

Without SSJ3 he would have have lost as easily and as fast as Vegeta did and he would then be too weak and hurt to do anything, like Vegeta was (couldn't even turn SSJ). Which would end the battle.
Abel Taylor wrote:If I could ask, why does Ti-en become Tenshinhan, but names like Krillin remain as written?
I don't know, the filter was set up on the forum years before I even began posting here, let alone became part of the staff, so I didn't have a hand in deciding what would or wouldn't get filtered. If I had to guess, maybe it's because "Krillin" is still a straightforward way of transliterating the kana for the character's name (クリリン/Kuririn) even if it doesn't match the name pun (栗/kuri, "chestnut). Whereas "Ti'en" completely ditches 2/3rds of the character's name, and uses the Chinese reading for the first third rather than the Japanese reading. It's complicated though, because using the Chinese reading arguably fits the name pun better: he's named after the dish 天津飯tenshinhan, which means "Tianjin rice" since it was supposedly made with rice from Tianjin, China ("Tian" and "Ti'en" are both ways of spelling the Chinese reading of the character 天 in the city's name). So arguably the only real issue with "Ti'en" is how it ditches the "shinhan" in his name, and even then Funi has been using "Ti'en Shinhan" as the character's full name for years, even if most of the time they go with simply "Ti'en". Of course, to me "Ti'en Shinhan" looks really weird because it's mixing and matching Chinese and Japanese in a way that doesn't quite make sense, but that's not necessarily the sort of thing that warrants having a word filter to change (and anyway, the filter changes "Ti'en Shinhan" to "Tenshinhan Shinhan", which is obviously worse).
Sorry, that was a bit rambling, but it boils down to "I don't know, but presumably it seemed to make sense at the time".
Thanks Herms, and you too kei17.
In regards to the new form for Frieza, I would lle if it was very similar to his final form, but I would also like it if he got a cool new form.

In addition to what Devils said, I also don't think you want "power level" thread in this all-about topic for the new movie, even after VegettoEX himself asked them to stop with this, again, as you can see among those texts. Sure, I am here to discuss about the movie, ocasionally "power level" or "canon and filler" might eventually appear but... Let us not make them be the main discussion. But one might reconsider what I said and ignore it if that, somehow, offended or if one thinks it is not contributing at all.
I would like to see Gogeta in a future movie but hell no... I can't imagine Gogeta x Freeza for god's sake... I cannot even accept a fight like SSJ3 Goku x Freeza, imagine Gogeta?
I would like to see a SSJ3/SSJG Gogeta x Beerus and Whis, it would be a pretty damn fuckin ass fight
I second the creation of a separate "F-related power levels" thread. It's overwhelming going through multiple pages of power level convo in this thread looking for news updates.

Yep. That's what I tried to say too...
Agreed. It would clean up a good chunk of dupe news posts and consolidate meta discussion into one place. In-universe chat should remain in the designated section.
Currently, it's just reams upon reams of hypotheticals and numbers. It is taxing for those of us who could not care less.
TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Anyone else feel like Toriyama forgot that Freeza's "4th" form is supposed to be his true form? The one he was born in, with the previous three being transformations he created to restrict his power?
In addition to the whole currently unexplained not-a-cloud-spirit-has-body-in-hell-revived-in-chunks potential inconsistency thing that I really don't want to get into again right now, Freeza's body being restored/recreated/whatever into his "1st" form while in the new healing tank is a bit of an "EH?" moment for me as well.
Yep. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he did. He forgot about a Super Saiyan form, so I'm sure he'd forget this too.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

Ssj3 lost the battle because Goku wanted Vegeta to have a turn. Both saiyans say Kid Buu would have been toasted.

"Super Saiyan 2 and 3 are nothing more than powered-up variations of Super Saiyan. After the fight with Beerus, Goku realized that mastering his normal state and Super Saiyan would raise his level more and sap less strength, so I think he probably won’t become Super Saiyan 2 or 3 any more."
Is Toriyama trying to get rid of Super Saiyan 2/3 transformations? Just... why? I mean the whole point he made seems unfair. He want us fans to forget about SSJ2 and SSJ3 only because he wants? All that God-Goku absorbing powers for me is just a excuse, come on
