Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

The manga takes precedence, though, and what Saiga quoted was Herms's very own translation of that part of the manga, no?
If Herms really did give the translated subs for Kai a 9/10, they're not perfect. That's probably just a 1/10. Or an anime-only line. The possible explanations for the discrepancy are endless.

Birus is the only one ever specifically said to have this super-special un-sensible god ki (Super Saiyan Gid Goku is implied to have it, since Kuririn suddenly can't tell how powerful he is). But this kind of ki is constantly referred to as what "gods" in general have, despite it never really being mentioned before with the previous gods in the series. It does seem like it might explain a lot if we assume Kaioshin had this kind of ki all along. On the other hand, shouldn't Goku have noticed before that, say, Kaio or the prior God of Earth had special ki he couldn't sense? And are we supposed to assume Dende has this special ki now too?

But it wouldn't imply that he's above "Ultra" Super Saiyan Vegeta, since Vegeta was actually holding more ground against his Cell Jr. than Piccolo was.
I admit I'm kinda lost as to what this argument is even about, but are you interpreting this line as Piccolo saying he's more powerful than Cell? If so, I'm pretty sure that "more powerful" is referring to Piccolo being more powerful than he, Piccolo, was before. That's what the line in Japanese says, and I'd say it's the most natural interpretation of those English subs.
If that's not what you were thinking, then I'm not sure what significant difference there is between these subtitles and my translation of the line.

I think your confusing what Vegeta I'm talking about. I nowhere said he beat SSJ Vegeta at the Cell games.
EDIT: In the anime one Piccolo is implied to be > USSJ Vegeta. He asking if he could beat Cell is implying that.

Vegeta is a good singer, then again his voice actor is Ryo Horikawa. I so can't wait to meet him in person
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

Yeah sorry about that, we as debaters love talking about strength.
Also why is Goku skinnier as SSJG. I don't really like him getting skinnier, seems like as if he failed and became something like what Gotenks does when the boys fail fusion. I'm not expecting bulky, but to get skinnier is an odd choice.

It's been posted multiple times on the thread, I can't remember the exact wording and reasoning but it's just getting simpler for stronger, such as Frieza's true form and Perfect Cell.
