I actually saw the title translated. At my comic shop in the monthly catalog, I went to the DBZ section and they had these little figures that you could order. It called the film "Rebirth of F".

Pretty much spot-on. Kanzenshuu uses "Revival of F" as the standard translation, but it's six of one, half a dozen of the other.

GT was not even close to that bad.

That's your own personal opinion. GT didn't do so hot compare to DBZ at the time. GT was market as the next big thing in the series since it came out right after DBZ ended and came out on the 10th anniversary of the original DB anime. I think everyone had high hopes for it and it end up being a failure instead.

I imagined GT didn't do so hot because it literally came right after people started growing tired and fatigued of Dragon ball in general. I'd like to think that if GT came out in 2005 of 2007 it may have been better received, especially if they got Toriyama on board to deliver ideas and stories like he does these movies.

Like I said a franchise killer is something that pretty much makes the entire series look bad. Something like Sonic 06 was a franchise killer as since then, no one can take that series seriously compared to the 90's. If GT was such a franchise killer, why are we still getting more GT content?

Ummm... Not quite, as TVtropes mentions a franchise killer is sometimes when the story of a series gets generally very bad or may even just outright suck to the point it halts production of new material from coming for a very long time (multiple years) to potentially killing it for good. In the most extreme cases, it can even take the producer/publisher down with it. However, there is hope that leaves the possibility open that the followup will be better then what came before and that this is just a blip in the quality of the franchise. This is pretty much what GT did for the series at the time. Ended all possibility for future TV series. However, like many things when enough time has passed you are allowed to give that franchise another shot to see how people respond to it.

Sonic 06 and Boom are not franchise killer as the game series is still going on and in the process or more future projects. Those are just bad games that were of very poor quality, even the best of series that are acclaimed by fans have an episode, season, game, novel, movie and etc. that's considered garbage too them, but doesn't overall kill the franchise. A franchise killer is something like Batman & Robin movie, Superman 4 movie, TMNT3 movie, and etc. So bad you killed any future material in that universe forcing a long hibernation period (Usually 8-10 years or more for terrible FKs) to get the bad taste/experience out of everyone's mouth and mind before giving it another go (Reboot or possibly continuation, potentially in a different format).

I think FnF will be a golden opportunity to explore Freeza's empire. I mean his Freeza's empire effectively create the plot for the movie. I'd love to see how it all began and on top of that, show how Freeza grew up during the empire's rise to prominence. I mean FnF is pretty much Freeza's movie.

I doubt they will explore Freeza's character and empire anymore than they did in the manga and anime. Honestly, Freeza feels like one of those characters you pretty much know everything about right from the start. Freeza is a rich spoiled petty brat who can and get whatever he wants because he's far too powerful to be remotely harmed by anyone in the universe which is why his reign has lasted for so long as he can force anyone to be his army willing or unwillingly. That's Freeza's who story in a nutshell, ain't much more to him than that.

None of the characters in Dragon Ball are deep, except maybe Piccolo. Goku just wants to fight strong guys and eat lots of food, and Vegeta just wants to outdo Goku at everything he does.

The only deep characters in Dragon Ball in my opinion are Vegeta first, Piccolo second, and Gohan third and that's probably because they have more to them the one dimensional and barely two dimensional characters like Goku and co.

Don't get me wrong, I could see boundary-pushing, intergalactic battle being kinda neat (if done well), but I just don't see it happening, especially mid-fight. I think they'll keep things slightly more confined on the action side of things. I can imagine it being done in a similar fashion to the opening of DBZ Movie 8, but during a fight? It seems unlikely to me.

As for telling Toriyama; yeah, I'll pass it to him over lunch tomorrow.

EDIT: I love how all the Z Warriors are acting like the fans, being so quick to dismiss Freeza.

I imagine Tagoma's entry will be something like this:

Let me see that! *rips it off his face, starts tinkering with it* Wow, this tech is amazing! So advanced. Just look at how it's...*continues muttering to herself as she examines the scouter*

Tagoma: ...umm, are you going to ask me questions or something?

Bulma: Nah, pretty sure this scouter is the most interesting thing about you.

The Piccolo entry today falls into the category of character interaction that doesn't really add anything new. Though it's pretty fun to see Bulma interacting with people we don't normally see her with...I can't remember a time when she has a conversation with Piccolo in the series. So I look forward to seeing her boss around every character in the series, badgering them for details about the movie!
