I got this game never having bought Xenoverse. Do I miss much story wise or does the game provide a recap, assuming it's picks up from the first game? Or do I need to search videos in youtube to catch up?

The story of the first game does not heavily weigh in on this one outside of the fact that the previous game's protag is present and that one mission of the story mode has you go back in time to the first game. Only thing you really need to know is that Towa and Mira were defeated in the previous game and that those with God Ki cannot be affected by their magic.

THough, one thing to mention is that Dataminers have found data about the 'Legends Patrol' stuff in the game data, which is a DLC that allows you to replay XV1's story in XV2 that has currently only been on the switch.

It doesn't look like any of the in-engine cutscenes have been extracted yet, so the last we see of him is that animated cutscene where [spoiler]he kills Dabura and decides to keep helping you so he can get energy.[/spoiler]

From what i saw, he isn’t “on your side”. He’s just chaotic neutral.

I kinda expected this in some way. XV3 would have the time patrollers, the time breakers, and Fu would just be a wild card that does what he wants.

I dont think this is the end of Fuu being an antagonist. In Fu’s bio for db wiki, its says that when he meets Mira, he will be greatly affected. So far, he doesn’t want to be a fighter but he still has saiyan cells in him. I’m still suspicious...

So, I redact my previous comments regarding Super Saiyan Blue in-game. Up close the differences are obvious, but from a far it clicks rather nicely and matches the other Super Saiyan Blue characters (as my male Saiyan will model below)

And I will say, the form does somewhat bring me back to the days of Xenoverse 1, when regular Super Saiyan ran out after the ki bar was depleted.

This update has been straight hype. I will say I'm disappointed at the current state of the mentor/partner customization (namely putting everything behind TP Medals, as well as how bizarre some of the coloring choices turned out. Like how we can't color Vegeta's under-armor, just his armor) but overall this has me very excited for the DLC

Watch him end up wanting the role of Supreme Kai of Time. He’s basically doing the job. He has the power to travel through time and change it to how he wants. Whether to fix the timeline or change it so that its a happy or sad ending. He may not be a threat (yet), but I don’t think the Supreme Kai of Time would allow Fu to run free. And I'm still determined that Towa and Mira will come back SOMEHOW.

HECK, maybe Mechikabura will be the villain of XV3 since Fu seemingly isn’t bad.

Well we know it's not the end of an antagonistic Fu as far as the franchise is concerned since the new trailers for Super Dragon Ball Heroes Universe Mission show Cooler breaking up a fight between him and Super Trunks. Of course it's not clear whether that Fu and this one are the same individual so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Does playing as the custom mentor on expert missions fill the gauge?

Gotta say, Bardock has to be my favorite mentor to customize. He has probably the best pool of moves, can go up to Super Saiyan 3 (which is satisfying to see in his default outfit), and hearing him say "Kamehameha!" while firing one off is so awesome to hear.

Is the Switch version missing content compared to the other consoles? It's hard to find info but I'm hearing they're only NOW getting free DLC content from pack 4. Sword of Hope was one of my favorite moves from when I last played and I'm hearing it's not even in the Switch version yet.

We also have Jiren's English voice (not 100% confirmed who it is, but I'm pretty sure that's Patrick Seitz), and uh...hmm. Feels like another case like with Goku Black (and Hit to a degree) where they recorded a bit before they really knew what the character was like. Cuz this voice (and especially the dialogue) puts me more in the mind of Toppo than Jiren.

On another note, what happens when you fill up the new 'partner' meter for a mentor? Does it only make the dual Ultimate stronger, or does it do anything else?
