Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
BoG didn't really conflict with the manga's plot in anyway. Well, besides that SSJ Gohan issue, which they fixed. Only complaints prior to that movie's release were over the designs of the main villains, SSJG, and possibly, Vegeta's dance.
With FoF, people were already skeptical over Frieza returning and how he can suddenly be strong enough to compete with anyone. When they revealed how he does it, it's exactly the sort of nonsense people feared in the first place. Later, we have Toriyama and other news implying we may not see SSJ Goku or his extensions anymore, which are arguably the most iconic aspects of the series. Next, we see Gohan is a SSJ yet again. Then, we have a blog in which Gohan ponders over whether he can even transform into that. And so on and so on.
Hence, constant arguing and more pages than BoG thread. =P

"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

I disagree. I never want to hear that Old Lady Freeza voice ever again.Kakarot9001 wrote:Whatever you say man, for me Linda Young is way better than Chris Ayresdbzfan7 wrote:I keep my signature holding Chris Sabat's opinion of Linda Young as Freeza. Though I guess I'm making the assumption that her father was a child when the series was airing, which might not be the case...
(looked up their ages while writing this, they're apparently in their late teens/early 20s, so not as young as I was assuming from the comment she made that made me feel old

Personally, I've never gotten over how Toei hired that Kageyama kid from the teen idol group LAZY.

BOG's script was in three parts compared to F's five, if I remember correctly; how much text is in each of those parts on their own? And to how much time would it translate to on screen? No way to tell without having a copy I guess, right?
*Wondering how much longer than BOG that F may be.*

I'm hoping it translates into 2 hours as early report indicated.

Speaking of Frieza's origins, .... is the theory of the Arcosians being related to Frieza flawed?
I remeber seeing something that claimed Frieza and King Cold where the only of their kind, a mutant species that reproduces asexually.
Not sure how acurate that is, especially with the addition of Cooler and Chilled from the movies.

If BOG's script got us 105 minutes then this could easily get us to the 120 minute mark.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:I'm hoping it translates into 2 hours as early report indicated.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Was that for the theatrical or extended version of the film? Battle of Gods was about 80 minutes without the credits, if one part was equal to about 27 minutes of screentime then 5 parts would equal about 135 minutes though it doesn't really work that way.Chuquita wrote:BOG's script was in three parts compared to F's five, if I remember correctly
The Last Naruto Movie was 114 minutes, something around that would be nice and realistic. I'd be perfectly happy with that.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I don't expect the film to be two hours long. We'll be lucky if the theatrical version is runs 105 instead of 85.
The storyboard for the film reportedly would have had it running for two hours. The Fuji TV cut didn't add the entirety of the storyboard back, it would seem.sintzu wrote:If BOG's script got us 105 minutes then this could easily get us to the 120 minute mark.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:I'm hoping it translates into 2 hours as early report indicated.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Its not that complicated, when ever someone says canon/canonical, they are asking if it is in the same continuity as the main series, in DBZ case, is it in the same universe/word/story/ of the Toriyama-verse.Herms wrote: Just to be clear, Toei is responsible for BoG and RoF as well. They've produced every piece of DB animation. Takao Koyama wrote the scripts for the first 13 DBZ movies, so if you want to distinguish between them and these two recent ones, calling the old ones the "Koyama movies" would work much better.
(In fact, if we were to call the first 13 DBZ movies the "Koyama canon", this would be a far more traditional use of the word "canon" than how it's typically used in fandom. But this would probably just confuse people who are only used to the fandom definition.)

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
The Arcosians were made up by the old Funi dub pretty much out of whole cloth. In the original anime episode Kaio just explains about how the Saiyans got other aliens to fund their attacks on various planets, and there's a screenshot of some Saiyans shaking hands with some random aliens. That's it. The Funi dub took that and ran with it, coming up with the name "Arcosians" and all the details about them. Not necessarily good or bad (my vote: bad), but there's essentially zero chance that Toriyama or anyone else involved in making this movie is even aware that this happened, so there's likewise pretty much no chance of the Arcosians turning up in this movie or anything else. Especially not since Funi actually dubs things faithfully these days.Monkey King Vegeta wrote:Speaking of Freeza's origins, .... is the theory of the Arcosians being related to Freeza flawed?![]()
Toriyama said that in one of his more recent Q&As. This means that he made that comment years after Cooler and even Chilled came along. He might have forgotten about them, or just not care about them. He only did their character designs, at any rate.I remeber seeing something that claimed Freeza and King Cold where the only of their kind, a mutant species that reproduces asexually.

Presumably those five script volumes are what's in the picture for the 49 Days Left post. Hard to tell just how thick they are, though.Chuquita wrote:BOG's script was in three parts compared to F's five, if I remember correctly; how much text is in each of those parts on their own? Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I have to wonder if those five books for the script are basically the same length as the scripts for a regular TV episode. If so that would put the movie at about 100 minutes, give or take a few for fight scene length and any additions made at the storyboarding and layout stages.

The 18th movie Detective Conan: The Sniper from Another Dimension ran 10 minutes short of 2 hours. It's not unbelievable that any anime movie can last up to 2 hours, given enough budget. By your logic, Battle of Gods would have been 65 minutes just because the script book each is equal to about 22-minute episode. Judging from the picture provided, the script looks pretty thick. Just saying.

Budget has nothing to do with it. The movie can be any length on the budget it was given, the quality is determined by the staff's talent and the time they have to put the film together.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:The 18th movie Detective Conan: The Sniper from Another Dimension ran 10 minutes short of 2 hours. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Site updated with today's entry:
Hey there, Bulma here!
48 days until the premiere!
Today we’ve got a comment from the greatest of idol groups, the weekend heroines “Momoiro Clover Z”! Not only are they handling the theme song for the movie, but they’re also set to provide the voices for some guest characters.
Takagi: Dragon Ball’s this legendary anime that’s been around forever…I mean, even my dad loves it!
He used to wake up every week just to watch it and then go right back to sleep, so when he found out we were getting to do the theme song he was ecstatic. I bet he’ll be in seventh heaven when he hears we’re also going to be appearing as characters in the film (laughs).
Sasaki: Just getting to do the main theme was a big surprise, so voicing angels with the same 5 colors as us was an even bigger shock.
Everyone: Yeah, it was shocking.
Sasaki: We’re gonna be in Dragon Ball!
Tamai: When our group name got the “Z” added on, I thought “oh, like Dragon Ball Z”, and I wasn’t too fond of it at first (laughs). But seeing how Dragon Ball Z pops up in so many different places, I started thinking it was actually pretty cool. Now I feel closely connected to it, in a rather self-centered sort of way.
Still, it’s such a historic anime, I never dreamed we’d get to handle the theme song. I’m incredibly thrilled to have this opportunity to do the theme song for a brand-new movie, and getting to voice a character was beyond anything I expected. I’m sure it will be a memory I’ll treasure for the rest of my life.
Ariyasu: While there are probably more Dragon Ball fans in the older generation, it’ll really make me happy for those people to find out about us thanks to this. So here’s hoping we can deliver a product all the Dragon Ball fans will approve of!
Momota: Dragon Ball is a series from our fathers’ generation, so we didn’t know too much about it. But our staff and people like that got real excited and told us all about it. It’s like watching a child: we were happy, but seeing everyone around us so happy too made us even happier!
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?
