I preordered the DBZ Kai Blu-ray Boxset over axelmusic for 38,45 $ incl. shipping costs and taxes etc.
The warehouse for Europe is according to axelmusic in Germany.
My thoughts for the upcoming DBZ Kai releases are:
DBZ Kai Part One: 1-13 (13 Episodes) / Son-Goku as Boxart
DBZ Kai Part Two: 14-26 (13 Episodes) / Piccolo as Boxart
DBZ Kai Part Three: 27-39 (13 Episodes) / Vegeta as Boxart
DBZ Kai Part Four: 40-52/54 (13/15 Episodes) / (Freeza???) as Boxart
If I calculate right, the Freeza Saga ends in DB Kai most probably with Episode 52.
And this would mean that DBZ Kai "Season 1" end with DBZ KAI Boxset Part 4!
After this i am sure that the dbz kai 4.th boxset will have freeza 1. form as boxart !
my intentions for 5.th boxart is either ssj goku or future trunks with his sword !!!
The word "KAI" means in the old North Germanic language Frisian "Kämpfer engl. Fighter" respectively "Krieger engl. Warrior"!

Bad news. If someone already posted, my apologies.
Amazon has the DVD version listed as Widescreen.

Eh, I'm okay with it. It was to be expected, as that is how the original Japanese releases where as well, so it's not so bad in my opinion.

FUNi stated before that both the DVD and BD are 4:3.
I guess I better Tweet FUNi a question and wait for Monday.

Was it ever in an official statement though? I mean, they had reps who had said that the GT sets would be in 16:9...

I thought something official was said about it, though. Oh well. We'll hopefully know for sure within the next month with a trailer or something.

The FUNimation reps that announced (Z) Kai at Katsucon weren't too sure, and just speculated it would be in 4:3. Here's what I reported back in February:
FUNi Announces Additional Kai Details wrote:We have
no official confirmation on the following, but according to some sources that attended the panel, FUNimation representatives did indicate all releases of
Dragon Ball Z Kai (DVD and Blu-ray) will be in a 4:3 fullscreen format. The representatives also speculated that each release would be comprised of 13 episodes. Again,
this is unconfirmed, and some
details may change before the release date. However, this information does seem to be fairly reliable and in line with FUNimation's current release practices.

Well, if that's the case, good thing we're bugging FUNimation about it again just to make sure what's what. I'd hate for someone to buy something thinking it's in one aspect ratio when, in fact, it'd be in another.

Not only the DVD but the blu-ray version has it listed as Widescreen
also :/. Although it says the aspect ratio is 1.33:1 which is contradicting.

I barely trust Amazon at all in this respect. I was living with my gran when I ordered my first orange brick back in 2008, and was convinced that I'd have to hack her (remoteless

)dvd player to play R1 discs, seeing as Amazon had them listed as R1 only.
As we all know though, the sets were R1, 2 and 4. I assumed the same would apply to the DBoxes but, alas, no.

Thank you for this. You just made my day. I was beginning to get worried there. Had it been cropped widescreen, I would have waited for a future release or just bought the R2 releases.

RightStuf and I aren't agreeing right now, could you plop a link down? I don't distrust you, but I'd like to see what else is coming out. Thanks!

Really? September? That seems a little longer than usual. I guess it's to be expected since the show is still in production.

It could also be attributed to wanting the impatient to get Nicktoons and watch it there.
Although...I'm not sure how well that'll work in there he'uh parts.
