3) Okay first off, I don't know what the hell a Adjutant is but his name in Modified Hepburn Romaji is Burakku Sanboo, which may be a play on Little Black Sambo. Sanboo isn't a common word in Japanese, but according to some online Japanese translators it means "staff officer".

An Adjutant is a staff officer who assists the commanding officer. That seems to be what Black's job is within the RRA. But I wouldn't know about the actual translation of his position.

On the DBoxes, I was a bit surprised to see that Simmons was translating Ginyu Taichou as Commander Ginyu when I'm used to captain. Having not seen a lot of the RR stuff in the anime, I wasn't sure if that meant that Red was also referred to as Red Taichou, as he's also referred to as "Commander." But now I see he's given a different term. So what's the difference? Does anyone know why Simmons preferred to go with Commander for Ginyu?

I don't have the DBoxes and it's been a while since I've seen those episodes in Japanese, but "Taichou" means "commander" or "commanding officer". "Teichou" however, means "captain" in a rank or military sense, not the captain of a football team or whatever.

Yeah Gurd is a tricky one. Usually I go with Gurd or Gurdo, but sometimes I use Gurt. Are there any problems with Gurt? Would the Japanese pronounce Guruto much differently than Gurudo?

The better latter, I evenly used this name to match close to the Japanese/FUNimation names as well as the name pun sufficiently.

Gururdo? It's Gurudo. And Guldo's just one of the possible English approximations of Gurudo. Why mix the two?

So I’ve been wanting to make more updates to the name pun guide, but I’m currently stymied by two things. First, I want to have all the info I update with included into in my posts at the beginning of the thread for easy reference, but both posts are just about at the size limit. OK, I started to use my own naming conventions close to the Japanese Names like Kywi, Jhiszu, Bautta, Reakoomu, Gulurdo, and Naizu. I somewhat use 'em for Freeza and co.'s World Trade Organization.

EDIT: I can keep em or accurately change em for the names of the members of Ginyu-Corps.
