In this context I'm talking about the kiss, not him standing around in fear of being injured and knocked out with his pals. The kiss, if it were me, would have made me be the bottom in the equation. It wouldn't have been anything romantic. After seeing my team get thrashed, that kiss wouldn't even be called romantic. It'd be like the bully giving your best friend a pat on the back after the bully kicked your ass while your best friend watched on. How Kuririn then takes this completely out of this idea and turning it into some romantic invitation / open door for a romantic interest is stretching it.BlazingFiddlesticks wrote:Conveniently ignoring the paralyzing fear of watching them demolish two Super Sayains. What kind of writing is that?Gaffer Tape wrote:And if you really want to hone in on either of the two ducking out, let's not forget Kuririn's cunning strategy of "standing paralyzed with fear while two Artificial Humans beat the crap out of my comrades."

Well that's a pretty nice take on it actually. Like I said, I thought it was sweet and their relationship is the only official one I enjoy so it's nice to think it's more substantial.Bussani wrote: I think the relationship itself was more based on Kuririn sparing her life and then removing her bomb. You could argue that those actions happened because of that kiss, I guess, but...I'm not sure I think that's as bad as a lot of people seem to. Maybe that's an unpopular opinion from me!

It's not any dumber than Goku marrying Chi-Chi because he thought marriage was a food.
Let's face it, the only romantic relationship that makes any sense in the DB world is Gohan and Videl.

I already said Goku/Chi-Chi was probably the dumbest couple in the series.
As for Gohan/Videl, they're alright I guess. I just don't really care enough about Videl as a character to think much about it.

Do you think Vegeta/Chi-Chi would have been better? I could imagine how it would be:
-They would spawn a very dangerous child
-Half of what Chi-Chi does to Goku would have her chris browned by Vegeta...and maybe vise-versa
-The arguments will be more explosive and angry
But the sex would be marvelous and added to the fact that Vegeta doesn't wander around about like Goku.

I don't know about comparing those two techniques but I wouldn't write off Yamcha's performance in that tournament as nothing much. After he got hit by the Sokidan, Kami serioused up and rushed to finish the fight because he couldn't afford to lose in that round. That only proves that he had underestimated Yamcha and couldn't risk staying in the ring with him any longer.Saiga wrote:Kurilin also surprised Piccolo Jr with his own techniques, and we know Piccolo Jr is a lot stronger than Kami. He impressed everyone there, Yamcha... not so much. And the Sokidan has got nothing on the Kienzan.Attitudefan wrote:Again, his Sokidan surprised everyone. Krillin may be able to float but he wasn't incredibly strong to the point where he hurt Piccolo. Yamcha did hit Kami right in the face pretty damn hard! Krillin's got nothing on that.
Actually to be fair, I always found him asking for a necklace for his current girlfriend to be perhaps a bit inappropriate given the circumstance and to be somewhat in tune with that character trait that the anime blew out of proportion.Granted, this supposed character trait comes from a woman who, while she was dating Yamucha, tried to dry-hump a man who was attempting to kill her. Yet we never saw Yamucha behave in any similar way...
(Sorry, the whole "Yamucha is a playboy" thing is an idea so far out of left field with no in-story evidence to support it that it makes me roll my eyes. It drove me crazy how many times the Dragon Books brought it up when we never ONCE see Yamucha even attempt to interact romantically with another woman besides Blooma.)
While I'm not necessarily defending Bulma here, I kinda doubt Vegeta had anything to do Bulma breaking up with Yamcha. Given how little she seemed to actually care for him in the Android Saga, I doubt she would end such a long relationship for a guy for who her feelings could be summarized as "meh".
The way I see it, Yamcha was just enjoying female attention and Bulma was way too jealouse and considered that being unfaithfull. Still unfair on her part, but that's the most I can picture happening from Yamcha 's side.
Unpoppular oppinion? I would love to see Yamcha win one over Vegeta. Not in a fight, mind you, I realize the power gap beween them it so huge that it's feels ridiculouse even as a fan idea, but in another way.

I like to think Yamcha isn't that stupid. There is no way in hell I would ever mess with Vegeta. He seems to know when he's been bested. That's why he wears a suit and stops fighting while Krillin is willing to fly off with everyone to go face this new Babidi threat.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

I think I've mentioned once before that I've always thought Yamcha and Chi-Chi had an affair after the former was dumped for good by Bulma.

I don't think he did, though. The only time he was really showing an interest in her Android-side was taking her body off the battlefield when Cell and Gohan were beam-struggling. I think he was purely thinking with his dick then. He was reluctant about deactivating #18 with the remote control, and there was a little thought bubble which showed #18's kiss, and rather than, I dunno, save it for later deactivate her and then destroy the remote (if that works)/hide her somewhere, he fucking destroyed the remote that Blooma had worked so hard to create. What a kick in the crotch that is.BlazingFiddlesticks wrote:I don't think he did, though. And then #18 mistakes his shitty little wish for compassion in one of the most half-assed love stories ever (but it's Toriyama, so it's to be expected) and fucks off. 7 years later, they're inexplicably married with a sprog.

Chichi does have more moments and scenes of dialogue with Yamucha than she does with most other characters in the series.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
That's what I'm trying to get at. Kami knew, if he kept fighting it is possible that Yamcha COULD have won. Could, not will. Piccolo, maybe because he thought he was a badass, didn't treat Krillin the same way. Piccolo toyed with Krillin's attacks while Kami took Yamcha's Sokidan very seriously. It's too bad the fight was written more for Kami to build this character up at Yamcha's expense; however, I am sure if Yamcha took the fight seriously earlier on, we would have seen a match just like or maybe better than Krillin vs Piccolo.I don't know about comparing those two techniques but I wouldn't write off Yamcha's performance in that tournament as nothing much. After he got hit by the Sokidan, Kami serioused up and rushed to finish the fight because he couldn't afford to lose in that round. That only proves that he had underestimated Yamcha and couldn't risk staying in the ring with him any longer.
Yamcha was not a playboy. He was quite loyal to Bulma until she cheated on him. It was Yamcha who proposed the ideo that it was his kids and Bulma was the one to be more hesitant.
Yamcha seriously could have beat all the Saibamen, as his power was well over 1000.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

I won't deny he wasn't; I just refuse to believe he destroyed the remote because he was horny. He knew #18 would have no idea what just happened, so trying to gain anything from her by doing that would be pointless- only #18 somehow asserts that he could have destroyed her with the device.Piccolo Daimao wrote:I think he was purely thinking with his dick then. Hmm. Looks like I do have a real off opinion. Not trying to stop the discussion there.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
How 'bout this for an unpopluar opinion?
I think Goku was a good parent to his kids. Not a perfect parent, but better than most dads in the real world. While Goku did leave his family for long periods of time to either train or fight evil strong guys, I think he did it for good reasons: to get strong enough to protect his family (and to test his limits, as well....and protect Earth.) Those who seem to criticize him for it, or make emo fanfics that place him as the bad guy aganist his own family, they seem to ignore the big and more generous picture of his actions. (Probably gonna get burned for that comment)
Here's more unpopular opinions of mine:
1. Goku/Chichi is my favorite pairing. Maybe because I'm into the old fashioned "idiot husband/sensible, but naggy wife but still quite loving" type of fictional relationships (Homer and Marge is a good example) A close second is Krillin/#18 (also into the "hot chick/kind of unattractive dude" type of couples, too.)
2. Vegeta is my least favorite character. He has a few good moments, but he just doesn't seem worthy enough to be Goku's rival in my opinion, probably because he constantly has his head up his ass and whines about not being better than everyone.
3. Dragon Ball is better than DBZ. Reasons: It's funnier, humans get to do stuff, more fanservice, and fighters actually fighting instead of just using ki attacks and talking about power levels.
Well, good night everybody
