The anime didn't have that much filler but it's the fact that it took roughly one chapter and stretched it into one 20-minute episode which caused the pacing problems. Personally though, I prefer a fight being extended for 2-5 (or whatever) extra episodes, and occasional filler segments (bar Goku vs. Freeza) than choosing to dodge a risky bullet of breezing through manga material then paying for it by having to write something-odd episodes of straight filler garbage later on. Naruto (2001-2007), and Rurouni Kenshin being prime examples, as they were cancelled prematurely because of their filler arcs.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Naruto wasn't canceled. It ended, and then it was followed by its sequel series, Naruto: Shippuden. Exactly like Dragon Ball was followed by Dragon Ball Z.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Okay, wrong use of words. Although Naruto's sequel was meant to be a sign that Filler Hell has been lifted. Shippuden is still pretty drawn out though, in fact I hear it went from taking 1.2 chapters per episode to exactly 1 chapter per episode.

Yes... "Filler Hell" is the best way to put it. I stopped watching Shippuden for the same reason. They started creating miniarcs that screwed with the continuity of the manga far to much for my liking. :|
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

Usually about 2-3 chapters per-episode, with at least 1 chapter per-episode, and at max 4 chapters per-episode. They do a canon arc the first half of the year, followed by a filler arc the second half of the year.

Well...Filler Hell isn't necessarily filler material that you dislike. It's widely panned segments of filler that is so bad it's unbearable but to only the most devoted of viewers. Likewise Fake Namek, Bulma's various misadventures on Namek, and the infamous 5 minutes also fall under this category.

Then again, that's just my definition of it.

I agree. A lot of Dragon Ball (no Z) filler seems to be much better received than DBZ filler, possibly because the series was slightly less about "I fight this guy now, and then this guy, and then this guy".

Well, I wasn't referring to DBZ filler in general. Just particular segments of it.
