Honestly a lot of the complaints towards the Z dub are over exaggerated and not as bad as people say. "Season 3" aka the Freeza Saga may be the dubs worse, but a good amount of the really cheesy dialouge was changed in the uncut, so idk why the 1999 dub is still being used for some examples.
It's still pretty bad in season 4, and season 3 was seen by millions who never bought the uncut dvds.

The manga fight between Vegito and Buuhan, it was pretty unepic and underwhelming.

Agreed, candy gag aside it was just a generic hero beatdown that we've seen plenty of times before.

I would actually need some verification that the uncut versions had less cheesy dialogue than what was on TV. As far as I can remember, the only dialogue changes were the insertion of out-of-place pseudo-swearing to help justify the higher price tag of the uncut tapes to the broadcast tapes.

Example: Broadcast Vegeta: "If there's one thing I've learned through this whole ordeal is that I'm an absolute genius!"
Uncut Vegeta: "If there's one thing I've learned through this whole ordeal is that I'm a friggin' genius!"

If you ask me, the TV version sounds better than the uncut release, which just sounds forced and unnatural.

Then again, maybe you're not actually talking about the uncut versions but the redubbing on the orange bricks and beyond...

My biggest DB disappointment was the Super Saiyajin God (also the animation of the movie)... and Gohan's voice in Dragon Ball Z Kai's dub (Latin America).

I already knew that "Episode of Bardock" is gonna be shit (sorry, I can't find another word). And my love for Dragon Ball (?) makes me see "Dragon Ball Evolution", but before I get into the cinema, I knew what I'd find...

I don't even have two years when GT comes out, so I didn't have the opportunity to send a letter to TOEI asking them to stop the worst thing that could ever have made to Dragon Ball.

At least the narrator for seasons 1 and 2 didn't have to say such tripe. Season 1 and 2 were bad, but 3 seemed worse.
Freeza did actually have some innuendos in seasons 1 and 2 as well. "I want to caress these balls" anyone? Also we had lines such as "three-eyed cowboy", and "uh oh, he fell right in the water hazard".

I don't recall any of those in the uncut "remastered" dub. besides "burnt toast" and Piccolo's "motivational speech." and the 3 Freeza inneundos.

I'm sure there were more than 3 innuendos (in your endo - love The Todd), but there were plenty of terrible lines but meant to be humorous and serious from that time.

It always bothered me how it just became sort of rinse and repeat... thought there should have been a little more variety in everything... especially in techniques.. instead all of them are pretty much just random ki blasts.

Also the fact that Vegeta is just a punching bag for pretty much the entire series.

It certainly seems as though he could have had a moment of triumph or two. I mean, just for the sake of listing, he gets beaten to shit by:

- By Goku, Gohan, Kuririn
- Zarbon
- Reacoom
- Kuririn (kind of)
- Freeza
- #18
- Cell
- Cell (again)
- Majin Buu
- Majin Buu (again)
- Beerus

Movies:

- Coola
- #13
- Broli
- Bojack
- Janemba
- Hildegarn

I think only Kuririn surpasses him at this.

Vegeta gets waaaaaaaay more moments of triumph than he deserves, especially in the Freeza saga.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke

Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Eh, I think Vegeta has it well.

Vegeta Vs. Goku: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Gohan/Krillin/Yajirobe: LOSS
Vegeta Vs. Cui: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Dodoria: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Zarbon: LOSS
Vegeta Vs. Zarbon: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Recoome: LOSS
Vegeta Vs. Jeice: WIN
Vegeta/Goku Vs. Ginyu: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Freeza: LOSS
Vegeta Vs. Nineteen: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Eighteen: LOSS
Vegeta Vs. Cell: LOSS
Vegeta Vs. Cell Jr: DRAW
Vegeta/Gohan/Goku Vs. Cell: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Puipui: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Goku: WIN
Vegeta Vs. Buu: LOSS
Vegeta/Goku/Buu/Satan Vs. Buu: WIN

Certainly not too bad of a record, especially compared to the likes of Yamcha and Kuririn.

"For naught"? Him killing Zarbon saved the whole Namek mission. He also saved Goku from 19- I mean he interrupted Piccolo's brilliant and well constructed master plan to save Goku from 19.

What does that matter? Who actually gets to kill the big bad besides Goku and Gohan (and Trunks)?

Vegeta's a complete asshole, he already got way more than he deserved (I think Krillin should have taken out Dodoria, for example).

Future Trunks beat THREE big bads (Vegeta, Freeza, Cell), was he the favorite character of Toriyama's editor or something?

He beat Vegeta? But yeah, he killed Freeza and Cell. I will never get over that. I mean sure it was alternate universe versions of them, but even counting alternate universes, only two other characters have done that. Oh wait, GT. Three.

Characters I think deserved more are Yamcha and Tenshinhan.

Yamcha: Have him beat Ram Fan in the 21st Budokai, I think that's more fitting since his character arc in previous storyline was getting over his fear of woman. Have him fight the Mummy to a draw instead of obvious Goku wank. I'd also have Bulma drive the helicopter so Yamcha can get on top of it and shoot Kamehameha on Piccolo Daimao's back, causing him to drop Tenshinhan.

Tenshinhan: Have his character arc last longer, perhaps to 23rd Budokai. Have him beat Goku cleanly in the 22nd Budokai as well instead of the stupid car excuse. Have him beat Drum then lose to King Piccolo easily.

That's one thing I like about the show is that those two-up and actually get something proper to do in Z.

When they were fighting in order to make sure Cell becomes complete/doesnt become complete. Vegeta doesnt think Trunks has the balls to attack him, and Trunks does. Or was that filler?

Edit: After reading the manga version of it, it wasnt really much of a fight.

Vegeta did have a lot of kills to be sure but I just wish a lot were more legit.

Like instead of saying him killing Recoome when he is already knocked out by Goku have him kill Reccome by his sneak attack blast to the face.

I don't really see how that hurts anything.. Goku still gets to come in and save Gohan and Krillin from Jeice and Burter.

Vegeta never got much glory.. he didn't have to beat a major villain but he didn't have to become such a punching bag either... especially for someone who ends up being second strongest in the end.

Yes Vegeta never got much spotlight; outside of the time where he killed all of Freeza's henchmen, beat up most of the Ginyu Froce, saved everyone from Android #19, and helped Goku take down Buu.

I mean compare that to Chichi, Chaotzu, and Yamcha. Vegeta doesn't have it nearly as bad as other people think.

He killed Cell twice. In the main timeline (he was an embryo) and in the future (imperfect Cell).

When I said "for naught" I was referring exclusively to the Namek arc. And his wins were for naught insofar that he does not accomplish either his goal of immortality nor killing Freeza, the only person that really mattered to him as far as getting the kill goes.
