I dunno, if Super has told Toei anything, it's that rehashing story-lines that are fresh in the memory doesn't go down well. They've managed to trade off of regurgitation in the Dragonball franchise to a crazy extent over the years, but to sell a movie, I think they need both the originality and the Toriyama-involvement factor; it's a proven formula for big box-office returns.sintzu wrote:I think there's a high chance the 3rd movie will be a Champa arc adaption.Hugo Boss wrote:I wish we could have a movie summarizing every relevant bit of Champa Arc.

Yeah, I could see that happening. Compilation movies or TV specials based on certain seasons of anime are very common.sintzu wrote:I think there's a high chance the 3rd movie will be a Champa arc adaption.Hugo Boss wrote:I wish we could have a movie summarizing every relevant bit of Champa Arc.

Re: Are you satisfied with the story of Super so far?
I actually think the story is better than Buu Saga (worse than Cell or Frieza Saga for sure). Buu Saga was a 6.5/10, Super is a 7/10, Cell Saga was a 9/10, and Frieza Saga a 10/10.
The animation, music and choreography have disappointed me though. In the dub the "loud obnoxious" music by Faulconer would be such an improvement. At least loud and obnoxious have life in them.

Why do people hate the Buu arc? It was ok and the fusions were fun.DragonHermit wrote:I actually think the story is better than Buu Saga (worse than Cell or Frieza Saga for sure). Buu Saga was a 6.5/10, Super is a 7/10, Cell Saga was a 9/10, and Frieza Saga a 10/10.

I don't think anyone hates it, they just don't think it's as good as the other 3 Z arcs but I've also read a lot of comments from fans who think it's the best one so it's not everyone.TheMikado wrote:Why do people hate the Buu arc ?

I'm probably in the minority that love the Majin Boo arc, and see it as one of the hight points of the series, and loathe the Android/Cell arc and see that arc as one of the low points of the series.sintzu wrote:I don't think anyone hates it, they just don't think it's as good as the other 3 Z arcs but I've also read a lot of comments from fans who think it's the best one so it's not everyone.TheMikado wrote:Why do people hate the Buu arc ?

I love it as well, it's currently my favorite arc in the franchise.
I like how it pays homages to events in both DB & Z while managing to do it's own thing, it felt like a true conclusion to the story and without it the story would feel like it was cut short.

I got into the series via the Buu Saga, so I have slight bias towards it. It's flawed yes but I love it. I'm also one of the few who really likes Goten and Trunks and would love more with themLord Beerus wrote:I'm probably in the minority that love the Majin Boo arc, and see it as one of the hight points of the series, and loathe the Android/Cell arc and see that arc as one of the low points of the series.sintzu wrote:I don't think anyone hates it, they just don't think it's as good as the other 3 Z arcs but I've also read a lot of comments from fans who think it's the best one so it's not everyone.TheMikado wrote:Why do people hate the Buu arc ?

I think that the ending of the Buu arc was really rushed. Especially in the Manga, the 'Ultimate Gohan' and Vegetto stuff is too frantic and plainly overblown to be hugely enjoyable for me - even Toriyama has hinted that he deliberately dialled the ridiculousness up-to 'eleven' in near self-parody. It's one of the few cases where the more staggered-out adaptation in the Anime really makes something considerably superior out of the source material.sintzu wrote:Lord Beerus wrote: I'm probably in the minority that love the Majin Boo arc, and see it as one of the hight points of the series, and loathe the Android/Cell arc and see that arc as one of the low points of the series.

Despite Toriyama's jadedness being increasingly apparent with the looming sense of finality in the latter chapters, I believe that the Buu arc still stands up as a solid piece of storytelling when considered in its entirety.

The Champa arc for me has been very good. I like it more than the Buu saga and the Shadow Dragon saga. It feels more fresh and original than we have gotten with the world building that we are getting so far. I like the new fighters and I like the build up to it. Sure the fights could have been better, but the story has been worth it though. I hope they keep it up.

The anime's version is a lot better especially with the fights cause the manga's were way to short especially for the rematch between Goku and Vegeta and Goku's final battle with Kid Buu.Blade wrote:It's one of the few cases where the more staggered-out adaptation in the Anime really makes something considerably superior out of the source material.

i absolutely agree. I think that the staff at Toei really expressed themselves between the lines in the Buu arc in a fashion that added to, as opposed to detracted from, the story. It's always a balancing act, and I think that a combination of Toriyama's Manga allowing scope for invention and the anime staff being in a good place creatively brought about some great episodes.sintzu wrote:The anime's version is a lot better especially with the fights cause the manga's were way to short especially for the rematch between Goku and Vegeta and Goku's final battle with Kid Buu.Blade wrote:It's one of the few cases where the more staggered-out adaptation in the Anime really makes something considerably superior out of the source material.

The adaptation of the Majin Boo arc is fantastic. The animation and art style are consistently good, the filler was great, the fights were a step up to what we got in the manga and the pacing was damn near perfect. I honestly think out of all the arcs that Dragon Ball has ever had, the Majin Boo arc got the best treatment.Blade wrote:i absolutely agree. Re: Are you satisfied with the story of Super so far?
The Buu arc had a stellar beginning with the introduction of the seemingly powerful, yet mysterious Kaioshin. Sadly, things took a turn for the worse when Piccolo was immediately put out of commission and the once revered Kaioshin was reduced to a mere joke. The showdown between Majin Vegeta and Goku was unnecessary, as I felt we had more than enough Saiyan screen time by that point of the series. I will, however, acknowledge the beauty behind Vegeta's sacrifice along with his final moment with Trunks.
As for Buu, his lack of durability, arsenal of cheap tactics (absorption and constant regeneration), and embodiment of humor made him almost as distasteful as Broly himself; definitely not a fan of either to say the least.
Then there's Gotenks...
I'm not sure what I find more annoying, Vegeta getting a lead role or the birth of Gotenks.

I was, and believe it or not, still am to some extent. I just find his condescending demeanor unappealing to say the least.Lord Beerus wrote:Not a fan of Vegeta, I'm guessing?supercat wrote:I'm not sure what I find more annoying, Vegeta getting a lead role or the birth of Gotenks.
Given how he announces his comrade's forfeit without any consent for something as shallow as humiliating a fighter who simply looks like his deceased nemesis tells me that he still has some room for growth.
I'd much rather see him hold a greater degree of respect for his other comrades while maintaining a friendly rivalry with Goku.

But I personally love Gotenks as a character so I guess that's where our opinions differ lol

I'm happy with the story and the world building is greate.
I'm hyped for hit, monaka, zarama , whis(going all out) , vados and more new characters.
the only thing holding back super is the animation and fighting geography.
these are my two problems with super.

I just want to know what happens beyond this tournament. ^^; I was hoping the latest manga chapter would provide clues, but the manga's done with spoilers apparently and they've decided to have it just stay in line with where the anime is.
On hiatus.
