Vegeta even remakes that he'll find his own of defeating Jiren and that he doesn't need Ultra Instinct to do it. Which just further highlights Vegeta's extremely dogged, brazen and resilient attitude. It's one of those character drive moments in self awareness that you don't much from characters in Dragon Ball, so it was nice to see it. It also served as good lampshade hanging for why Vegeta has been acting the way he has been in this arc.
Exactly! This is what I've been saying all this time!
He's arrogant and cocky because that's his Saiyan pride, something he can never truly throw away.

Funny, he threw that away in the last arc when he claimed he was fighting not for his own sake, but for Trunks' Future. Even Black, a Shinjin, remarked that his behaviour was quite un-Saiyan-like.
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

Vegeta can still have the pride of Saiyan and while also fighting unselfishly for the sake of for others. They traits aren't mutually exclusive. It's just a matter of how you balance them.

I still haven’t lived down going, “Who the heck is Tao Pai-pai?” that one time I was talking with Ei’ichiro Oda-kun. But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

I believe Super should have explained that earlier in this arc because people were getting confused about Vegeta in this arc.

Why his is getting power-ups from stuff that caused him to get his ass kicked in the past? I guess Vegeta should have unlocked new powers against Frieza, 18, Perfect Cell, and Buu. This is terrible writing the direction they are going in. His behavior is now a strength when we've been told that's a huge flaw in his fighting style. Bad writing IMO

He's trying to turn his flaw into a strength for him. That's good writing not bad at all. It shows growth from Vegeta.
