Honestly, I have to ask the same thing.
Gozar wrote:Metalwario64 wrote:Yeah, they are all very different. The singles were too bright and greenish, while the Season Six footage is darker, but more vibrant. The Dragon Boxes are a middle ground.
Agreed...Though I'll gladly take the Season Sets color over the old Singles.
Same here, except for...
SEASON TWO!!!

No! I'm not! Between Season 6 and the Dragon Box stuff I honestly can't see the difference. I can't tell the difference between HD and Blu-Ray either. Should I go to an eye doctor!?

I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Any way you can post three links to the three different images, labeling which is which? The cut-up picture is a bit difficult to decipher, and I can't really tell which looks better to me. The GIF moves too fast and gives me a headache.

Actually, HD and Blu-ray is practically the same thing.

Well, Blu-ray and HD(-DVD, I take it is what you're talking about) are practically the same, so that's no big. But if you can't discern color differences that are that varied...eh, it might not be a bad idea. This coming from someone with terrible vision without contacts in.

It's quite easy to see.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Could somebody describe what I'm looking for ? One just looks brighter than the other a bit I guess and one has brighter colors ? Is that right !?

I think it's most obvious when you look at the GIF and stare at the pupil of his eye, his hair, and the skin on his hand(each separately, of course). A lot of people are talking about the kamehameha, but I personally think that one bright ball is the same as any other bright ball, no matter how saturated the blue is.

I was actually talking about the streaks around the image, not Gohan's hand itself.

So are you guys saying that Season 6 is TOO saturated (if that's the right term) and that's why the DBOX is better ?

I'm still waiting to see some of the shots of lines disappearing, because some of those scenes shake quite a bit, I'm interested to know that with the scaling back of the DVNR, did this kind of fix the problem?
Anyway, I'm actually tempted to pick up the Dragonbox single of the end of the SSJ2 Gohan and Cell fight, because if you have the FUNimation single, you might as well be looking at a game of tetris.
Anyway, It's nice to see the quality of these sets improving, it is a little sad that it took them this long to reach this point though.

Hm. The Singles are obviously outdone in clarity by the Season 6 set and the DragonBox. But look at the color of the eyes on both the singles and the DragonBox. These eyes are supposed to be a lighter green, the Season 6 eyes are definitely far darker than they are supposed to be. At least, that's how I see it.

Just want to throw this out there...
Is it possible that FUNi took EXTRA care with this Episode (When Gohan defeats Cell) because it's such a major Episode?
There's A LOT of screen shaking scenes in this Episode and the line disappearing seems to be completely MIA in the Episode.

That can actually become a problem.
I remember having to turn the damn saturation down on my TV whenever watching Dragon Ball GT's DVDs due to the saturation being unbearably high. Especially during scenes with Super Saiyan 4 Goku.
Bright colors + high saturation = blinding light!
But yeah, exaggeration aside, too much saturation can be a bad thing. Granted, it's *close* to the Dragon Box quality, but it's still somewhat overly saturated.

What I don't understand, is how can a DVD have such shit quality (the single release) because those old singles only had three episodes on them, which is like 60 minutes of footage. That isn't very much considering the average movie is 2 hours, plus they put bonus features, and those don't have horrific macro blocking.
