Oh, if it were "The Legend of Blanka", Blanka would probably be green
(maybe yellow in the first trailers, and fans would protest, but...).
You can't compare both movies that easily:
Street Fighter is more grounded in reality, so it's only natural that it would be less immediately identifiable than a
Dragon Ball adaptation.

I think you did compare them. You basically said "Yes. It's just as bad as Street Fighter."
There is not a single costume choice that has any similarity to the games in that movie, because they very openly decided to go for a "realistic" and "urban" look. In the case of Evolution, we at least get an orange Gi.

Does that necessarily say something about the quality of the dub? A lot of people just don't like buying TV series on DVD or reading subtitles.
Well you
could take those people into consideration, but the number of people actually enjoy the dub for the dub would
still outnumber those who were turned away from it. "DeeBeeZee" has quite a large following here in the States, or so I hear

I just quoted people. That's what I do. I'm a quoter.
But if you ever catch me subtly (I'm a subtle quoter) implying that I think both movies will suck, I have to warn you: that wouldn't be a comparison.

An urban look? For
Street Fighter? Get out of here!
('just kidding... the title just never was that fitting, was it?)
In the case of Evolution, we at least get an orange Gi.
What's Chun-li wearing
here?

Haha, the name never fit the game at all. And frankly? Never thought of it. You, sir, have a good bit of wit there. I like that. =p

Hm. Somewhat hard to tell, but that MIGHT be similar to her cotume? It has the neck...thing....ish....similar?
No hair buns, which I was sure was the most identifying feature of the character, but I suppose it's SOMETHING.

Hmmm... That doesn't sound at all like something that could be said about the lead of another live-action adaptation...

I think sometimes people forget that "good" and "bad" are subjective concepts. What anime "is" to an individual, will differ from person to person. Just because somebody likes to watch dubs doesn't mean that they don't know what "anime" is. And I'm not just saying that because I prefer dubs.
A. I didn't say they don't know what anime is because they don't watch the Japanese version. I meant they don't know it by name. They recognize the style ( SPIKY HAIR AND HUGE EYES) but if you said out loud the word "anime" they would look at you funny.
B. I'm so sick of the whole "WELL MAN THATS JUST LIKE YOUR OPINION" argument. It's really just a pathetic cop out when you have no real defense.

Of course the same fans who go "YO HOMEFRY DAT BATTLE WIT FREEZA WHEN GOKU WAS LYK KAMAHAMEHA OR SUM SHIT AND DAT TECHNO IN THE BACKGROUND WAS JUMMPIN'!" It's clear they could care less about quality so long as bright flashes and consistent music grabs their attention.

Well what else can be said? If you think the Freeza saga is the best and I say otherwise it pretty much comes down to a matter of opinion doesn't it?

I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I personally believe it comes down to debating the merits of each saga and seeing which comes out on top. Not ignoring everything and shouting "WELL THATS JUST LYK UR OPINION MAN!"

Right, I was just asking because I didn't get what you meant by that. I understand though. Well what if we debate about it and can't come to a conclusion? Then what?

Then the debate goes on forever. Or until someone doesn't give a fuck anymore (kind of like my feelings towards the Live Action movie).

My intention wasn't to debate, rather to remind you that what you like best or consider better is not fact. Because you continuously talk about it like that.
I don't want to debate because I like BOTH versions. And I feel no obligation to defend any reason you dislike it. I'm not the one who insults one or the other and by extension, the people who enjoy them.

At this point I can relate to that feeling.

It's not a fact if you said all whales should be killed besides the purple ones named George but I can still say that's a dumbfuck opinion and explain why.
I think my distaste towards the dub is well founded and I can indeed back it up so why shouldn't I voice the opinion when said circumstance arises?

Unfortunately, even other hardcore anime fans look down on Dragon Ball in this way, usually giving reasons that indicate they've only seen the dub.
