I hope I wasn't being misunderstood in anyway. There really isn't much of a division with the manga aside from the shift in tone. That's almost like saying people don't really the difference from Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, when there really isn't. It's just Naruto.
Naruto, a series about Sasuke Uchiha, you mean.

Angle Grove Youth Center

Chatwin-Son: "Guy's, Alpha just called, Piccolo's attacking the city!"
Park-Yamcha: "Dang!"

*Gang runs into conveinantly empty and unnoticlable hallway*

Chatwin: "It's morphin' time!"

Hm, let’s see… girls in costumed tights? Check. Karate moves complete with “ha”s at every punch? Check. Contemporary setting that looks more like the Youth Center than anything out of Toriyama-land? Check. And of course this wouldn’t be complete without the cliché of striking a cheesy victory stance followed by running into your boyfriend’s arms.

Well, I’m not one to knock the Power Rangers, but I can safely say that pink leotards don’t belong anywhere near Dragon Ball, thank-you-very-much.

I'm sure we can all relate to that. I've seen a good number of interviewers and people covering the movie's progress casually make the mistake of throwing in that "Z" in there :?.

As mentioned in the podcast, there will always be "idiot fanboys" that make me want to hang my head in shame, but it's just one of those things in our fandom that we've gotta deal with, I guess.

Piccolo gets easily defeated, but then pulls out his predictable trump card. BOOM! GROWS INTO HIS GIANT FORM!!!

Yamcha- We need to get into the Megaz... What Goku!?

Goku- Yamcha, I'm the red ranger so I get to call the megazord.

Totally random, I know...

No different from what most US Dragonball fans are used to.

I don't think it's that much different from the early Budokai, except for being indoors and with bleachers.

Please feel free to rip my a new one for this, but the more I look at the scans of Chatwin the more and more he starts to look like Goku to me. Maybe I've just been looking at the same 3 pictures for too long.

Corny one-liners doesn't really sound like the anime dialogue I know.

Well, that's not the anime dialogue I know...

And I'm not really sure that's a one-liner.

Okay, I admit DB has had some ridiculous clothing, but considering Chi-Chi went two decades without a pink leotard, I don’t see the point in throwing her in one now…
Rocketman wrote: No different from what most US Dragonball fans are used to.
It’s admittedly a minor detail, but that doesn’t make it any less lame.

Being indoors and with bleachers is enough to make them totally different. Besides, it lacks that traditional, rustic, “non-hockey-rink” feel:

Point taken, but when you couple it with everything else, I don’t know, it just feels off.
