It would be a plothole if it contradicted something in the story, and it doesn't. They don't explain it, sure, but Toriyama never stated it wasn't possible for the planet to come back, maybe it needs special requirements for it. Explaining Cell's nucleus needs more stretching than that. An early (and major) plothole would be the Dragon Balls re-activating in under a year during Red Ribbon arc.

Kaboom, a few pages ago there was a video of a guy going to the theatre to see the movie and at the end he opened the pamphlet and we could see the "Beers" page.

I would have been a lot more worriesome about how I was going to take the whole thing if they'd gone that route, yeah. I mean, there being other 'good' Saiyans in the past that got wiped out is already a little bit of a stretch...but it feels more legit than 'oh, the entire race was good, but then THIS GUY HERE went and ruined that!'. I'm able to deal more with 'Oh, there were some good ones, but they were weak and got wiped out'.

Oddly enough though, Super Saiyan God seems to fit better with the original concept than it does the one we actually got...so kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't, moment of writing I guess.

Whoa. That's just...awesome. Very well timed too since I'm in the middle of watching the Lupin franchise.

It's simply unexplained, at the very least. Though if folks like Kami are capable of restoring things like the moon, then it'd probably be easy enough for Kaioshin to restore Kaio's planet for him. Perhaps it was sometime in the couple of years before the movie, in thanks for Kaio's help with Majin Boo?
Why would they restore a little chunk of the planet instead of the original HUGE planet that Bills destroyed originally?

Links to illegal cam video of the movie will not be allowed, nor tolerated on this forum. If it's a video of the movie, which at this point is only in theaters, then it's probably illegal. Please think twice before linking to any such content, because we will warn/ban repeat offenders as we see fit.

There is still hope that Chozenshuu will explain it (though it's unlikely IMO). My explanation is that Goku used the Dragon Balls to revive the planet for Kaio as a present.
Using the Dragon Balls to wish back Kaio's planet "as a present" would be a total copout.
Would it be any worse though than Bulma offering up the Balls as a prize to be won in a game at her birthday party?

Which THAT finally clicked in my head, that was the issue I wanted to bring up a few pages back and couldn't remember. Seriously Bulma? You know Old Kai is somewhere pulling out his hair over this, considering they were JUST going over this in the last arc. They deserve Evil Dragons at this rate.

I dunno, a plot hole is something that literally can't be explained because of pre-existing facts. For the 20+ years it's been around, all we know Kaio's planet we learned like, two weeks ago in a mini-interview where Toriyama probably made his answer up on the spot. And the movie is at least 9 years after Cell's been dealt with, so it's not impossible it was wished back.

I've wanted to write up a news post about the "Cinema Today" article all day (found it at 5:30am this morning), but work-work has bogged me down all day. Maybe tonight... at some point. Ugh. :eh:

Oh those are cool boxes! X3
Nice use of scenery art and I like how they let you know who's inside each box.

EDIT: *Stares at the new photos*. Magenta~! It's magenta! X3 (The box lied to me; I thought it'd be red; now that I know it's magenta, it'll be super-hard for me to resist. Also I want to see this movie even more now.)
This ssjg Goku is now an insta-buy. Also smiling!Vegeta and Birusu.

Oh, some Battle of Gods stuff aired on the French news, on TV, and on one of the two main channels, no less!
The article was mostly about the new Kame Hame Ha trend these days. Though they spelled it "Kamehamea" and said that "it's a Japanese word that means striking a pose for a photo". Hmm, so I guess when Goku says it before his big blast, he essentially says "say Cheese / strike a pose for the big photo that's coming in your face!!"... The weird thing is that they later showed Goku using it (with Chichi by his side) giving an accurate description of what it actually is in the story.

Anyway, they had guys mentionning how it symbolized the outstanding success of the manga culture, the very essence of the manga culture, and they did show part of the trailer and mentionned the movie currently released in Japan "17 years after the series stopped" and ended on something like "we're still waiting for an exact date as to when the extraordinary phenomenon wave will be unleashed on us".

With the second main national TV news showing it (and when it was only released in Japan so far) and saying we're waiting for a date to know when it will finally be a devastating success here, it could prove to be quite hard to ignore the movie for long for the higher-ups in charge... Or so we can dream! 8)
Those news are followed by an "ever-extending super-success" TV show in France, most persons waiting for that widely successful show likely watch those news. That means quite a big amount of people, whether interested or not by Dragon Ball, are now aware that it's back in full-power mode with a big buzz and that there's a movie that's apparently something huge that started a whole phenomenon around the world.

Hmm, odd that Pilaf is still green, he's blue in the movie. I know Toriyama made him green thinking that was his color, but you'd think they'd fix it on the figure too.

Le 20h de France 2?
Nope, M6. TF1 is unbeatable with his "20h", but due to the Scène de ménage ever-increasing phenomenon, most people watching this show instead of the other channels' news will have their share of news right before it.
So it's mostly TF1's "20h" or M6 "quick news + Scène de ménage" for most people, with the second option becoming more and more popular.
Note that the Dragon Ball news was aired for the noon news and once again for the evening news.
