Yeah, Funimation stuck with Kikuchi's score for their dub of Dragon Ball. It's one of the reasons why that dub is somewhat tolerable, in my opinion at least.jcogginsa wrote:Did they use Kikuchi for the dub of Dragonball? If so, I was first exposed to it there. If not, I didn't here it until Kai's dub.
I do like it though.

Did Funi also do the Dragonball dub after they finished with Z, because the voice acting for the DB dub sounds better to me as well?

(Very) Brief Timeline:Regarder wrote:Did Funi also do the Dragonball dub after they finished with Z, because the voice acting for the DB dub sounds better to me as well?
1995: FUNimation's dub of the first 13 episodes of Dragon Ball
1996-1997: FUNimation's dub of season 1 of Dragon Ball Z
1997-1998: FUNimation's dub of season 2 of Dragon Ball Z
1999-2000: FUNimation's dub of season 3 of Dragon Ball Z, with voice work moved from Canada to Texas, and music taken over by Faulconer
2000-2001: FUNimation's dub of season 4 of Dragon Ball Z
2001-2002: FUNimation's dub of season 5 of Dragon Ball Z and their relaunching of Dragon Ball, redubbing the first 13 and continuing on
So, yes and no. They started with DB before skipping ahead to DBZ. Then, at the same time they were doing the Boo Arc, two years after they'd switched to their in-house cast, they tried Dragon Ball again. So the voice cast was indeed more experienced by that time.

Well that explains it. I definitely didn't see those 13 eps in the '90s. The 23rd Budokai section was the first section of DB I saw, and I was very impressed (I know you didn't rate that part too good, but I guess I just liked the Piccolo Vs Goku stuff.)

Great video a always, i didn't notice that mistake Kuririn made while they went to Guru, funny thng is, if battle did engaged, Vegeta with his 30.000 wouldn't do much against Nail 42.000
I agree that part with Kaio sending Goku clothes was weird, but he couldn't teleport it to Goku in space, because if he could, why he didn't teleport Goku to Earth after he got wished back?

That's a good point. I hadn't thought about that. Maybe Nail would have actually gotten to do something useful. Although since Vegeta ends up being so necessary in this arc, it still would have been rather useless after all. =Pcoola wrote:Great video a always, i didn't notice that mistake Kuririn made while they went to Guru, funny thng is, if battle did engaged, Vegeta with his 30.000 wouldn't do much against Nail 42.000

Oh wow, it never occurred to me that Goku's little dangly bits on the boots were only introduced on Namek, I always assumed they were always there even after reading most of the manga
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Haha, I actually made a "Goku and Vegeta Boot" guide here on Kanzenshuu about five years ago.ekrolo2 wrote:Oh wow, it never occurred to me that Goku's little dangly bits on the boots were only introduced on Namek, I always assumed they were always there even after reading most of the manga
And it's not just the dangly things. The colors swap at some point around this time too. Prior to this, the trim of the boots were typically yellow while the non-dangly lace was red. Around the time the dangly things are introduced, the colors swap. And that's essentially true for both the anime and manga.

Interesting, aside from the boots I also never noticed the different kanjis on Goku's gi and even less blatant, Kuririn's gi with a different kanji. I've got to check if the anime corrected that (although with scenes such as the one with Gohan, Kuririn and Piccolo moving away when Goku is about to fight Freeza where Kuririn leaves wearing a battle armor, then flies away in his orange gi, I'm forced to keep my expectations low), but hopefully you'll eventually cover that.
And nice video, as usual, I always learn new things from them!

This is my favourite part of the series even if Bulma got shafted. i always thought the adventure parts were more exciting than the constant string of battles that kept happening in latter sagas.

Yeah this is something I never got. Why didn't Toriyama ever write Bulma to go after a dragonball or multiple dragonballs? None of her ships emit ki, she's smart enough to pay attention to her surroundings unlike Gohan and Krillin when they get excited about a dragonball and/or get powered up, she really could have played an almost subterfuge/spy role, and no one would see her coming because she's not a fighter. Man, what the heck?
Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/4/16!)
The panel referenced doesn't exist in the anime adaption. Instead of focusing the camera on Kuririn's back during that dialogue, it's his face where the camera is placed. The first image I provided isn't clear from the source episode, but it seems Kuririn retains his "Turtle" kanji during that particular segment.Rubens wrote:Interesting, aside from the boots I also never noticed the different kanjis on Goku's gi and even less blatant, Kuririn's gi with a different kanji. She's not that good at not panicking, she can't really defend herself, she's not fast at all, her normal Ki is still readable by scouters and the enemies still have eyes and ears.FoolsGil wrote:Yeah this is something I never got. She would only be good at it if she had some sort of mech that was good at going unnoticed, fast, pretty good at combat, with some sort of AI to compensate for her panic.
Basically, she would need an Iron Man suit with Jarvis on the wheel and a stealth mode.

Well the cartoon gave her some stuff to do. A lot of people don't like the original content there, but honestly I didn't mind i.FoolsGil wrote:Yeah this is something I never got. Re: MistareFusion's Dragon Ball Dissection! (Updated 12/4/16!)
I'll be honest, too. While the cartoon made her even more unbearably annoying and gave her tons of extra insufferable scenes, I actually really enjoy the two episodes with Blooma and the Dragon Ball. I mean, yeah, what got her into it was excruciatingly stupid ("I don't want to get wet!"), but once the, pardon the pun, ball got rolling, it was actually quite fun, and she handled herself very well.Kid Buu wrote:Well the cartoon gave her some stuff to do.
