They were discussing the fact that he couldn't release his full power, to me, it means that Gohan wasn't able to turn SS2 during the battle against Dabura because he got weaker.mikey41 wrote:I agree, Goku and Vegeta were also judging Gohan while he was fighting Dabura and saying he got a lot weaker since he fought Cell. Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I was about to say this as well; Gohan was angry because of the attack on Videl during the tournament, while he had no reason to get mad and become SS2 against Dabura. Even with Piccolo and Krillin turned to stone, Gohan wasn't angry during the battle. One of the databooks (Daizenshuu 7 I think) says that Gohan's last usage of SS2 was during the tournament.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Daizenshuu 7 says he used it against Dabra.
And I don't buy that Gohan was only able to use it at the tournament because Videl was attacked. He had calmed down once Videl was given the Senzu, which was before his match with Kibito.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I'll join this discussion of Gohan's SSj2 transformation for a bit, because this really caught my attention.
When Gohan was about to leave with Kaioshin to stop the re-birth of Majin Buu, leaving his father and Vegeta to fight, didn't Goku remind Gohan to get angry? that when he's angry he was unstoppable? I seem to remember Goku telling Gohan something along those lines.
So it's really interesting because yes, he turned SSj2 in the tournament when he got furious during Videl's beat-down, and then during his fight against Kibito, which happened more or less, immediately after. Much later he fights Dabura when he's no longer angry, and Goku and Vegeta discuss how he's gotten weaker, and then, afterwards, Goku reminds Gohan to get angry. It really seems like Gohan never managed to completely master the SSj2 state. Looking back on it, it feels like he could only reach that form only when he was angry enough.
Now I can see that Gohan really had dormant power left, since the only way he could access it was with the SSj transformations, but he only had complete control over the first form. The old Kaioshin simply gave him easy access to that hidden power.
Of course, there's a lot of guesswork in here, and the Daizenshuu may contradict all of this, but the Daizenshuu have been proven to have incorrect information before, so I wouldn't trust it 100%. Anyways, for the sake of discussion, why don't we leave the guides out of this and just concentrate on the manga. Of course, in the original Japanese manga, Goku may not have reminded his son to get angry, at least not in those exact words. But still, I think this topic deserves a thread of his own, if there isn't one already, since it's a very interesting thought and worthy of discussion, in my opinion....

The way I see it no lightning in the manga = no SSJ2
So Gohan wasn't SSJ2 when he fought Dabura

Awesome video Mr. Mark! Too bad there isn't more clean videos of the movie officially released, since some of the images you used from previous movies looked a bit out of place. Nonetheless I really enjoyed it!MR.Mark wrote:http://www.dailymotion.com/user/f711513 ... deo=xyk6bq

To me, only when they have lightning around them I see them like ssj2.
So for me, In Buu saga Gohan only turnt ssj2 in the tournament against kibito.

So according to the Hollywood Reporter, Battle of Gods it's now on the 6th place in the international Box Office chart after one full week of screenings. Apparently it made $4.4 million this past weekend, increasing the gross of the film so far up to $18.7 million.

That event happened shortly before and it would make sense if he used that rage to go Ssj2. Hopefully when the Buu saga portion of the manga is recolored we will get a clear idea of whether or not he was a Ssj2.Saiga wrote:Daizenshuu 7 says he used it against Dabra.

According to Rentrak (a Box Office tracking site who Box Office Mojo use for their numbers) Battle of Gods made $4.4 million on it's second weekend and has made $18.7 million in total.
That's a very good amount. Unfortunately the yen is weak right now and had the movie come out when Film Z did that $18.7 million would have translated to over $21 million. It should easily pass 3 billion yen mark that Toei was hoping for.

Hmm I don't know how this movie revenue stuff works but isn't that too low? Or am I thinking wrong and 3 billion yen equals around $30 million?Bullza wrote:According to Rentrak (a Box Office tracking site who Box Office Mojo use for their numbers) Battle of Gods made $4.4 million on it's second weekend and has made $18.7 million in total.
