Anyway, it's confirmed Shenlong will be in the movie. You know why? "Temple of the Dragon"
I'm not sure how that confirms that Shenlong is in the movie. There are dragon temples all over China, but that doesn't mean that there are dragons there.
In a movie about finding balls that summon a dragon where the balls used to summon said dragon are the main focus of the story, you'd think that a dragon (hopefully Shenron) would be in there somewhere.

I worded that poorly, what I meant was what he/she said didn't prove that there is going to be a dragon. I'm quite aware that there probably will be one. Hell, the word "dragon" is in the damn title of the movie!

Well, Daimao goes from old to young in the film. I would hope that would happen via wish.

Do we know that for sure though? I'm having some trouble keeping track of what's been confirmed and what hasn't.

Y'know, I'm not sure. It wasn't an official statement so much as people talking. The word was that the studio wanted to just go with young Piccolo, JM thought it was bull and had the makeup guy apply the old look, and they ran with it rather than blow a day of shooting.

But obviously anything "official" on Piccolo has been light. That could turn out to be just a rumor/wishful thinking.

What it was is that Fox wanted to do with young Piccolo but Marsters insisted on old and made his make-up artist make him look old. And then the Fox people liked it so they went with it. There's never been any mention of him gaining his youth back in the movie (and since he was to start young and it was changed during filming I don't see them re-writing it).

My thought is that Old Piccolo will be in this movie and then young will appear in the next two via some form or rebirth like that seen in the series, and Marsters will just play both Piccolos.

True, but..

TV Guide: Nice to know you’re so enthusiastic. Who do you play?

Marsters: Lord Piccolo. He’s thousands of years old and a very long time ago he used to be a force of good but got into a bad argument and was put into prison for 2,000 years. It got him very angry, and he finds a way to escape and then tries to destroy the world. The cool thing is, anybody who has seen Dragonball knows that Lord Piccolo transforms into a character named Piccolo, and that is a whole other ball of wax. That is one of the most popular characters in the whole series. I’ve been told I’m working for people who will just flay me alive if I give too much information, but what I can tell you is the character is green, bald and has pointed ears. Heroic wouldn’t be the wrong term by the end, but it’s a long journey.

Which is entirely true for Piccolo. Nothing in his statement implies that King Piccolo simply turns good by the end of the movie. Heroic isn't the term for Piccolo, in the 23rd budokai or early Saiya-jin saga, but by the Freeza battle? Sure. Despite his attitude in the Android saga he's long since given up being evil. I mean, hell, he got to train with King Kai instead of being sent to Hell when Nappa killed him.

Sounds kind of like an incredibly garbled version of Kami expelling Piccolo from his heart, sort of. Actually, it really sounds a lot more like Garlic than Piccolo. It'll be interesting to see how and if they include Kami in this movie, or any of the other gods. Goku is supposed to die at the start of the second movie, so presumably Kaio will be in that one.

Yeah you're right, it does. I don't see why they couldn't just leave that part of the story alone though...personally I think the change is kind of lame, but I'm sure there's a line of people waiting to praise it.

I really don't see how they would pull off Kaio-sama in the sequel.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I don't see him being any harder to do than Piccolo. Of course, I'm worried about how they're going to do Piccolo is this film. And then there's Freeza and his men in the second and/or third film...

Because in cannon, the whole Daimaou/Kami/Piccolo lineage with terms to connections to the dragonballs and who needs who to stay alive gets so convoluted and plotholey that it's hard for even me to fully sort out.

I can go with changing the two aspects back down to the Child of Kattatsu and then he goes rotten Lucifer-style as Daimaou alone. I actually really like the little bits I've heard about changes to him. But if Pic is somehow condensed in there as well, it'll break my heart. Pic isn't his father, and I'll miss him if he's gone.

I've been looking for that Marsters quote referring to Pic as a distinct person- it's reassuring. Thanks for digging that out.

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but this topic has grown to 65 pages. I thought I had "hit a nerve" when it was up in the 20s and then "hit the money shot" with the 30s. Now all I can say is that when the movie hits the silver screen it's going to be much more and this will not contain it. I think that it should be stickified, but this is not my forum. I hope that Veg doesn't lock it without stickifiying it. We need this thread for all the newbs who will show up after the movie hits theaters. I mean, it's going to be apocalyptic when that does happen. Just wait and see.

This movie is going to stink, I can already tell.

Just by looking at the cast and the promotional posters, it seems to be on the same level of suckiness as "Fantastic Four".

I can't believe Lord Piccolo said it himself. I bet this movie will be awesome.
