Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

But back on topic, am I the only one really fangasming about Super Saiyan God? I mean, I can't wait to play Zenkai Battle Royale when I go to Saitama for 2 weeks in July just to play the character. I'd like to include it as a part of the "manga story", but I'm conflicted. Seeing as he's said that he sees the movies as being in an alternate universe...but didn't Toriyama say that BoG (and Yo! Son Goku & Co.) were events that officially took place during time skips?

I've been fangasming over the power-up/form too. (Maybe my fangirling's been more on DeviantART than it has been here? I've got *counts* 14 deviations in my gallery including him since the beta artwork was revealed on Toei's office door on that TV show in late February. This is if I include pre-screenshot artwork where I briefly thought he had brown hair/gold highlights, or the time I thought he had purple hair).

I wish I could play Zenkai Battle Royale; I hope they eventually port it to consoles. >_>

The writing underneath says:

All I could understand about it was she's talking about a sense of speed and the battle with God and Birusu...was anywhere on the isthmus? (I had to look up the kanji and then the English word, I've never heard it before haha.) Oh, and that the music's cool too.

Hahahaha geez...I've just been reading up all I can about the movie, watching any clips I see...I can't wait to get my hands on it!
And yeah, I hope it gets ported over. I hope it doesn't play like the Sparking games, though. I didn't really like them...

It's just a translation that some people prefer. If I'm not mistaken; Bills, Birus & Beers are all valid.

"Beers" and "Bills" have both shown up on merchandise. I and a few others called him "Bills" for awhile when we had zero idea what the pun was supposed to be. It's since been confirmed to intentionally be based on virus, and unintentionally on beer thanks to Toriyama's mistake. The official movie program uses "Beers."

It's 地球 ("Earth"), not 地峡.

Well, he made the "different dimension" comment in Daizenshuu 6, which was years before the JSAT special or BoG, so he obviously didn't have them in mind when saying that. He has said that he came up with the story for BoG by imaging if the manga's serialization had continued, so there's that at least. But I don't think he's said anything as explicit as it "officially taking place".

Yeah, I remember reading him saying it was like the manga continuing, but I dunno if that's enough to go, "Yep, confirmed. Battle of Gods is official in the Dragon World." Regardless, I like it. I'm just trying to piece together what is "official" and what isn't.

Update on the Box Office

It made $4.55 million/444 million¥ on it's second weekend.

It has made $19 million/1.85 billion¥ in total.

That's a very good amount and 63% of Film Z's through the same point (it started off at 50% so it's holding up more).

It only dropped 37.7% which is a much better hold than movies like the One Piece, Naruto and HXH movie.

Hope for 2.5 billion Yen by the end of it's third weekend.

Seeing the guide book video just makes me want my own copy to arrive this week that much more. I hope it's this week.


I hope a listing eventually appears for the animanga; I wonder if they're waiting til they get closer to the dvd release date for that since the animanga'd be full of screenshots that haven't been released yet.

I have the animanga for the Jump 08 special, but I don't remember how much time passed between Jump Festa and the animanga being released, and even so that's a different case altogether I guess.

I wonder if OPZ's animanga is out yet. That'd be a better reference.

Does that mean there's a BOG animanga already in print? I'd imagine if there was that Julian would've mentioned it already. Confusing.
